Problem action/adventure. For example i read a teen wolf fanfiction called alternate last year. And honestly it was good, the plot was thought out it wasnt just the typical what if they went to a different school or blah blah. It starts at the beginning of season 3 Scott hits his head and the whole story is like a long dream but he wakes up in school, everything is different. Stiles isnt his best friend, jackson isnt popular, Derek is a school teacher, etc. But he tries to figure it all out basically he has to fix whats wrong with everyone and make things right. He befriends lydia who's a nerd, falls in love with Allison again and helps Stiles deal with abuse and his controlled life. At the end he wakes up and realises it was all a dream. It was a good length and the plot was good, each chapter had a purpose not just droning on and on. Thats the kind of stuff i like to read.
Another tip: USE THE ENTER KEY!! I've seen so many fanfics that are literally just a wall of text with no paragraphs. Is it really that hard to just press enter every now and again to separate, for example, the discription of an item and when a person is speaking?
raven m I'm kinda late but press the enter key every time new dialogue is introduce. Every time a character is about to speak, press the enter key! I hope this helped a bit~
This is my endless loop: 1. Gets a great idea 2. Writes chapters 3. Takes a break 4. Go back to writing 5. “WTF is this? Why did I write this?” 6. Deletes the whole thing 7. Repeat. (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)
1. Gets a great idea 2. Literally writes like 1500 words at the *most* 3. Gets bored and decides to come back to it another time 4. Loses interest and deletes draft 5. Repeat 🕺🏽
You've forgotten the most important kind of fanfiction.. X readers... EDIT: why are y'all still interacting with this comment, i was TWELVE when i wrote this
I fucking hate them, mainly cuz all the descriptions are the same and oh my god there is no fucking plot. I read a few x Natasha Romanoff in a nice little story book, they were cute. Little adventures and shit.
Another tip; Don't be afraid to further explore canon characters. Introducing a new character can be a great way to deviate from the standard plot and further explore the personalities of the canon characters by putting them in new situations etc. and this in turn can be used to further flesh out your original character. And never forget that adversity creates relatability. People have struggles, having your characters struggle makes them relatable and more interesting to read. Something as simple as forgetting a bag with something important in it can open up a world of possibilities for character conflict and development.
Russel Niel Manrique Silva It's easy to get discouraged when it seems like you're just sending your hard work out into the void but don't give up! For me I write fanfics because it's fun or because I want to read a fic with certain characters that no one else has written yet (like wanting to see two characters interacting around a certain trope like amnesia or something but you can't find the fic you're looking for). That way you're writing it for yourself / out of your own interests or just because there's not enough Batman x superman fluff in the universe. If other fans like it great! If no one shows an interest, who cares you enjoy reading it yourself and it's something to work towards. It should also be noted that A lot of fans stay silent on fics because they're shy or think 'oh man they're so great how could they not already know'. If there is a problem with the writing then it's hard for many people to give criticism, they don't want to offend or undermine someone's work just because of a bunch of typos - so a lot of people stay silent instead. If you're not getting the viewers you want the simple answer is to just not care and continue writing to cater to your own interests (e.g.I want to read a fic like that one I just read but no one's written it good enough so have to write it for myself ) other ways to drum up readership if you really want it, is to post it on tumblr as well as a fanfiction site like Ao3 more platforms, means more chance at an audience! But the important thing to remember is that fanfics are made for fun and revelling in your fandom feels so don't let it bring you down. Good Luck!
Incase you are gonna do a self insert keep yourself limited to a deus ex machina don't make yourself the mc or protagonist or replace any carector inside the story
I don't hate Dramione but I just can't imagine Draco having a crush on Hermione. Since he hates muggle-borns and Hermione just so happens to be one. And Ron is not rude or a horrible character. Sure, he can be mean sometimes but he's kind for the most part. I just don't think Dramione makes any sense.
That's one thing that surprised me about the series when I watched it the first time (the whole way through), is when Hermione turned out to want Ron instead. I mean, at the beginning of the second film (I think) when Harry's on that staircase, Ron sees him, says his name, and smiles. Hermione turns around, sees him, smiles fairly slowly, and the way she says his name. Tell me that doesn't indicate she has a crush on him. Then in a later film when Harry's facing that dragon. Why would she be so concerned for his safety like she was if she didn't have feelings for him?
@@jiminsjawlinecutme1897 ooc stands for Out of character. So when you're writing a fanfiction meaning you're using characters (that arent yours) from a show or book you might make them say or do things that isnt normal for them , or that doesnt fit with how they acted in their show.
*GUYS! (」゜ロ゜)」I MADE A MISTAKE at around **3:22* It's supposed to be *Self-Insertion* not *Reader-Insert* #derp Thanks for that user who corrected it! (couldn't find your comment, did you delete it?)
+RafiRaffee that's ok . may i ask u a few questions? ; 1)have u whatched: tokyo ghoul, kuroshitsuji and death note.if not well i think u really should 2)do u believe in friendship between a guy and a girl well i do 3) which camera do u own please keep reading i am sorry my english is kind of bad
I beg to disagree with the self-insert thing. Self-insert CAN be done well, as long as you don’t make your avatar character absolutely perfect. Give yourself some flaws when inserting yourself. And don’t expect the main cast to know your avatar immediately.
One of my favorite types of fanfic are self-inserts that are done well, and most of them aren’t even x reader fics. Sadly, those kinds are extremely rare; I can only count the number of ones that I’ve read on one hand
I agree! I've read several reader-inserts that were incredibly well done. This is especially the case when they have an interesting, unique story about how they got into that world and experience inner conflict about staying vs. getting back to their own world (if they even can).
+Galaxy Neko I Totally agree with you. Have you ever watched diabolik lovers fanfiction!? GODDAMN, Whenever I checks for new fanfic, it's either and OCXsakamaki or nothing. I feel like- "GOD! they should go take a break from MAKING FREAKING OCs!!,"
+Savithri Raghavan I've never seen Diabolik or read the fanfiction...but damn that sounds annoying. But I understand! KH is sadly like that too. RikuxOC, SoraxOC ughh.... Sorry but no. Dx
+Galaxy Neko Me too. I don't like them 'cause the OC isn't apart of the original story, so I don't know whether they would actually fit or not (the OC with the character I mean).
Interesting video, I don't read or write fanfictions mainly because it is something that doesn't interest me and because the majority of the fanfictions I have glimpsed at are very cringe worthy, which may be because of the points you mentioned. I know not all fanficitons are like this and I'm sure there are well written ones, but most I have seen are of a poor standard, this is just my opinion. Through my years of doing English and analysing texts I also have some tips which might be useful for fanficiton/writing in general. One important aspect for a good story is to have character development. You have to show how the events which occur around the characters shape them as individuals either through how they act and see themselves internally or through their relationships with those around them. People change. Characters change. The character from the beginning of the novel should not be the same as the end. Another point I think where people struggle is where they lack description, in this sense meaning. The point when you mentioned the author describing the person's clothing, I don't necessarily think it is the length which is the main problem (Quality is better than quantity), but the lack of meaning and detail. Yes whilst it is detailed it is not detailed in the right way. This is where I think it is important to SHOW NOT TELL! So the example when describing the ripped stocking and spiky boots, Instead of just saying that 'she wore ripped stocking and knee high leather boots.' You can describe by not just saying what is, but using descriptive words which apply to your senses and SUGGEST what it is! So this is by using the 5 types of imagery: visual, auditory (hearing), olfactory (smell), gustatory (taste) and kinesthetic (touch). So the sentence could be made better by saying ' As I/she walked the touch of the smooth leather beneath my/her knees chaffed against the pockets of skin poking through the rips of my/her stockings. Winter is coming I/she thought (lol yes xD), as I/she brushed my hand against my/her leg and felt the small sting of the protruding cold metal (this suggests that these are the spikes without saying it).' I hope this helps anyone ^_^
+alistar ash You are a rare treasure on the internet: someone who is willing to help others with constructive criticism. Not very many people do that without needing to be promted first. Thanks for that! :D
Exactly! I am writing a fanfic, but it's a serious, genuine story. I don't like the stereotypical OCs, over-the-top sex scenes, and terrible grammar that fan fictions have become known for.
Thankyou this really helps me! At school I was always considered a really good writer but I have always been horrible at writing fan fictions. I add to much detail and I need to figure out a clear plot. Can't wait to begin writing my phan fic
I don't read/write fanfiction but these are some really good points when writing any sort of story! But when I do stumble across one, I feel that the writer didn't proof read it before submitting it, and it will usually be filled with mistakes or just be very confusing xD
Same but I'm not sure yet because I want to make a fanfic about a Underrated ship non-canon but I'm little scare that people would think that is stupid.
I adore reading and writing fan fiction, so this was super helpful for my publishes! I write my stories mainly from video-game fandoms, such as Little Nightmares or the Dream SMP
I wrote one about Ouran High School Host Club, where my character is torn between Kaoru and Tamaki :) I ended up deleting it because I didn't make the plot before hand so I didn't have a place for my story to go. Thanks for the tips! They helped me alot :)
Thank you! This was very useful for me as I am new at the 'Fanfiction' thing. I have always loved reading them but only recently become obsessed with writing them...
i still really don't know how to write fanfics in my wattpad.. it's still blank and i don't have any ideas in my mind... so i write lyrics in my wattpad instead even my anime list too...
In my fanfic, Eli met Aesop in the first chapter, but they fell in love later in the series. The conflict was an obsessive friend of Aesop’s, and Eli’s past that hits him later on.
I really love the emotional fanfictions because at the end I always get to learn a little bit from them^^ By the way, when your able would you please consider making a video on how to make a good OC please?
Omg i wrote a whole new Warrior Cat book when I was a kid and gifted it to my then best friend who moved away to a different school when we were 9, so I never really spoke to them again. Now I kinda wish I had the book back because I thought it was good and I want to see if it was as good as I thought 😂 I never realized, I wrote a Warrior Cats book in elementary school and a Sailor Moon book in High School for an assignment…I’ve been writing fanfiction since I was like 7 and I never realized it until I read this comment 😅😂❤
- Key points - 1. Have a plot: Intro, conflict, climax, falling action, resolution > "a story without conflict is not a real story" 2. Stay in character (e.g. a bitchy person isn't going to be nice for no reason) 3. Avoid Mary Sue & reader insert > biggest turn off is when an author inserts herself into a fanfiction and makes herself perfect, flawed characters are more relatable 4. Don't use too many dialogues > sounds messy 5. Don't use too much description > consider what the reader is interested in, just get into the story! 6. Use the right POV: 1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person > limited input based on which character is telling the story 7. Don't type in a whole ass song 8. Check your spelling and grammar and find beta readers 9. Stay consistent with writing even tho you don't post it
I love fan fiction, its a good alternative to have when I've had my fill of the usual T.v, Movies, Anime and Manga. Its fun to see what other people can come up with, when using characters from T.v shows or Anime. I tend to write a lot of fan fictions from various Anime and T.v shows, but I can get easily distracted, then end up loosing interest all together. Which happens to annoy a lot of the people who read my stories, though, I can't say I really blame them - since I also feel that way with other authors who don't update regularly. Lol.
Maybe because I am not a true fanfic reader but I don't mind the in depth descriptions as long as they are creative and don't occur often thus messing up the flow of the story. The incorrect grammar is a HUGE turn-off for me! They're lots of fanfics that have good stories but many times the grammar sucks big time. I got into a few chapters of one badly worded fanfic and even considered helping the person out before realizing that the story was already done and there would be too much stress to work on it now. As a manga reader, I feel that last comment about the long breaks. Those who are being paid for the work they produce sometimes take up to years before they continue the work (WHHYYYY?!!! [..I know...they got their reasons...]). So, I won't try to imagine how painful it must be for a fanfic reader to wait without a hint of knowing when the next chapter will be uploaded. Thanks for your honest tips in this video, RafiRafee. Have a good day! Also, good luck to all those writers out there. Remember to be supportive, fellow readers! ^_^
+Kwanza Trotman Yep! In depth descriptions are fine as long as they make actual sense, unlike the example I gave in this video haha! (ノ・∀・)ノ Agree, bad grammar hurts my eyes too, even though my grammar is not perfect either, at least it's readable xD Yep yep! I feel really sad whenever the manga I'm reading goes on hiatus too. Same goes for fanfiction. Thank you for your comment! Have a good day! ♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪
Thank you so much . Whenever I read fan fiction(BTS) I always notice that any bts member is like really cold at the very start then like honey cakes at the end when they fall in "love" . It kinda irritates me in a way . I hope I'm not alone on this . Anyways thank you for the tips as I'm currently writing a fan fiction at the moment , it really helps !!!😊
Staying in character is so important, even with “dark” versions of stories and AUs that we’re all so fond of 😅 Now that I’m writing regularly, these tips are really useful.
Wow! Thank you very much! I'm planning to write a story (and draw the comic) this summer and the things you said are very helpful for me! I noticed some fails you mentioned but I also realised the other ones.
I've been trying to work on some fanfictions, mainly of x canon ones. I often avoid ship fan fictions because people can be very toxic about them and the characters are often very ooc which is honestly a massive pet peeve of mine. I get a bit worried though because so many people hate and actively shit on oc x canon stories. I also just love reading about peoples OCS since making and reading about characters is something I love.
i got a 2 tips first is characters you can make a personality for a character and then if you want to use a kpop idol, an actor, an insta model or whoever popular, make sure you write that before you publish your story, for example you have a character with a shiny personality and is nice to everyone, but you want him to look like Draco, then make sure you mention that, if you write everything about hogwatrs then it's stupid to change the peoples personality for the description, i think (personally) writing details helps with your imagination, as to imagine that scene and everything how it happened, but ofc you don't wanna over do it (as she said in the video) uste the enter key, it's better to make a few middle length paragraphs than to have the whole page written out or you can use pictures, for places and clothes even tho i personally prefer describing it out hope you stay motivated and do a great job❤️
I was planning on making a kpop fanfic and planning to make it absolutely amazing just like the ones that I've read Tysm for all of your amazing advices I hope these will help me ❤️
I really love this video and I was just wondering if you could do an updated morning routine or a reanactment of a fanfiction you have made. Love you ❤️😀
I literally came on this video to help me write good Harry Potter fanfic.. I DIDNT KNOW YOU WERE GOING TO MENTION DRACO HATING MUGGLEBORNS!😭😭😭 Back to the planning board
This is pretty informative and straight to the point, amazing video. That'll help me a ton with my Five Nights at Freddy's AU, which ironically enough, will not be told via text but rather as a series of 3D animations told in chronological order lol.
I've had some good ideas for Fanfiction in my mind for ages!!! I just haven't had the time to get it down on paper. Thanks for another helpful video!!!
Thanks these are really great tips. I’ve only just recently started writing fanfiction stories. I think my most populer one is Tempest’s Confession, it’s a Wings Of Fire fanfic
Wow! Really nice video! Thanks for explaining! Hey, can you please answer a question? Should I write the fanfic first, and then publish it, or should I write it until the end and then publish it?Thank you for your time :) ^^
+icantfindjiminsjams I think it's better to finish it first before publishing it, but a lot of people seem to prefer writing and publishing at the same time, so it depends on your preference really! (o^∀^o)
My story is too gosh darn long to finish at once before publishing, I also want to get a speedy opinion and build up a fan base going step by step. New ideas also come from the reviews speculations on what's happening and extremely useful advice is handed out on your content. You do you though :).
I've definitely written fanfiction haha... Of course, it was a Harry Potter fanfiction. The first draft was... absolutely awful. As of today (Jan 1, 2021, happy new year!) I've been working on the story for FIVE. YEARS. It's really weird to think about. But I'm also so proud because 5 years gave me a lot of time to get to know my characters and the characters in the HP universe better! I was definitely one of those authors who wrote Draco out to be nice when he's actually a huge git.... And I can write him much more realistically now! ("Realistically" haha,,) I'm on my second draft for the story and nearly finished, but I plan to make a THIRD draft just to make sure it's all good. I could go on about my story and how much of a pain it's been, but it's really a labor of love, and it all started with an idea and my (now) best friend ❤
I'm currently writing an 'Ouran High-school Host Club' fanfiction, and I love reading stories where the protagonist is hurting, and must rely on their friends and family to seek acceptance and love. The 'hurt/comfort' fanfics if you must.
yes. i've been writing a AU fanfiction of Legend of Korra. "Reign of Vengeance" is the title. the story follows Korra as she rise to power and makes grand plans to avenge her parents(Killed by Red Lotus) and get back on Suyin(who is the Great Uniter in this timeline).
Thanks a bunch! This doesn't just help fanfiction writers, but writers in general. I came here because I just finished spending 3 days reading the most amazing, nearly flawless fanfiction. I wanted so badly to be able to write that well, because I had a story I wanted to tell. A while ago I made a really bad, cringy fanfiction, one of those self insert, Me OC x Main character stories. I hated it, and although I wrote 7 chapters I quit. But with the extra dose of creativity, and these instructions, I feel I can do a lot better now, with a fresh idea. Just a tip though, to anyone reading this comment. Write a story you'd want to read. Make it a good concept, well written, and see where it will take you. Thinking this now, I'm going to cut out the OCs. Where 90% of the characters in my old story were OCs, now they will be canonical characters. I will keep them in character. And I probably will avoid a straight up romance this time, instead make the focus possibly healing after hurt, and friendship. So wish me luck guys. And once again, thank you. PS. The amazing fanfiction I was talking about is Phantom of Truth, and especially its sequel Shadow of a Doubt. Be warned though, they are over 300000 words combined, longer than the Harry Potter books I think. Make sure you have time on your hands before you stay up till 5 AM like me reading them >u
Wow, thank you for actually making this video! It helps me a lot! I'm glad you are one of those youtubers that reaches out to their audiences and takes in their suggestions. (^∇^)
Thank you so much dear... You are awesome... I really wanted to write a fan fiction but had no idea how to... Now thanks to you I know how to do it... Thank you
I'm a fanfiction writer and I write any fandom that I know and know the characters. Your video helped me a lot. So thank you for making it! ^^ By the way, I don't like celebrity X Reader. It just weird to imagine yourself being with the celebrity. I prefer anime characters and fictional characters. Because I know they do not exist in the real world except when they play as the character but it's okay they not like that in real world.
I read sometimes fan fiction, but the first I ever read is a fiction of the prince Nuada (in the BD or movie Hellboy). P.S. I love how you always make sure that you don't insult or said things that can insult other people ^^ (it's not something that every youtubers do :\ ... sadly) and Bonjour du Québec (it's a province in Canada) !
Some of the fan fictions I write are the kind where you make the characters from the movie watch the movie. It's all character reactions with very little plot other than everyone sitting around being forced to watch the movie, but the reactions are awesome!
The "Stay in character" made a lot of sense, so bcs im a writer who writes about kpop male artist along with the main female, Y/n. I don't use, Lisa, momo, mina, somi or other female kpop artist to be the female villain...instead i use them as Y/n's friend, siblings or family members related to her and I use my own made up characters to be the female/male villain. Because i find it super cringe to use them idols as the villains of the story lmao 💀
i can agree, i'm writing a story where Jungkook is a mafia leader, now i made him cold but also some moments he can be soft, BUT i announced that i own the personality of him as in the storyline, and that i do not expect him to act like that in real life, as it's just fiction and i'm using him to represent my character
Awesome video! Yes I have written fan fiction before and I've been doing it since 2012. I've written for Call of Duty, Halo, Alpha and Omega, Dragon Ball Z, Bleach, Naruto, Rosario + Vampire, Red vs Blue, Resident Evil, Minecraft, Fallout, and Undertale!
i used to write fanfics but i stopped because of several reasons. I didn't have time for it anymore since I've become busy with school, i've gone on a really bad writer's block, and I kinda felt bad about what I wrote because I was writing about someone who is an actual person (I've written some that are graphic and unrealistic, that's why). I'm not saying that it's bad. those are just my personal reasons. I think that it's cool that people share their creativity, and that there is someone enjoying their works. another great video! it's not really limited to fanfics, but your tips can also be used in writing in general. :)
I am always chanting "quality over quantity, show don't tell" in my mind and sometimes even out loud when writing descriptive bits. Another thing that really helps figure out the quality thing is "What can the people in the story see?" Like Raven's gloves and stockings, it's not important unless either the people outside can see it, or that specific pair of gloves is something for the rereaders to cry about because they know they're importantly sad later on. Important style choices are either relevant to the interpersonal(relating to others) or intrapersonal(relating to the self) Also, another descriptive thing that's really important to me. Like she said, too much description can get annoying, and fanfic vets know walls of text are such a turnoff. So if you feel the need to include a bunch of description, ask yourself what's really important, and once you've trimmed it, if what's left still feels like too much, it's super simple to find what you think is an appropriate separation point and split the paragraph. Interrupt with absent thoughts, even. Like the kind people could plausibly have while getting dressed. A simple "I'm hungry, better hurry up." or "These socks are too fucking small." or "Wonder what Georgia's doing. I should call her later." goes a long way to make your character feel like they're not fantastical hollow structures. Anxious thoughts, miffed thoughts, dumb and sleepy thoughts, "I'm not excited for science today," thoughts. Any thought someone could have passing through their mind while doing an activity that doesn't require much works. This is also a pretty cool way to show comfort, skill, or even passive klutziness. You wouldn't think about something occupying that happened yesterday while cooking over a hot stove unless you were either a really good cook or a really bad one. Even shooing away thoughts counts as a personality at play if it's accompanied by a "I have to focus on what I'm doing." a clumsy or disciplined person could both have that thought, distinguished maybe by a "I should be responsible" or a "With my luck, I'd burn the house down." And everyone's funny in their own head! Have the character think, or even mutter aloud, jokes to themselves to snicker at. And really, as one of the things I just love to see, PASSIVE DEMEANOR CHOICES. If a character is annoying, give them an ANNOYING WALK. PLEASE I LOVE IT SO. Not the mean girl walk either. I'm not hating on people who like it, but that's not even what I'm referring to! I'm talking they skip while humming loudly in the most inconsiderate way! They kick their feet up high and wear these loud shoes so everyone flinches at the echo-y click when their heels come down! Characters showing hyper-awareness or no awareness at all of their surroundings for responsibility, mental health, or personality reasons is so wonderful too. It's so weird to me that so many people from different walks of life can see the same overused blueprint and not think about switching it up. The stereotype of Y/N is this beauty-standard fitting girl who has no reason to hate herself or stutter that much. Give her a world-fitting traumatic backstory that explains the off-putting self-loathing and gives her an actual speech impediment. So as not to be offensive to people with speech impediments, if you want to go that route, do your research. Fanfiction is built on the concept of a base, added to by someone who cares. The difference between an oldie but a goodie trope like well-written enemies to lovers and a bothersome cliche is how it's handled. Put in effort, check your grammar, do your best with your ideas.
"What type of fanfiction is your favorite?"

It was a good length and the plot was good, each chapter had a purpose not just droning on and on. Thats the kind of stuff i like to read.
..... *Starts sweating bullets and runs away*
All I can say is... don’t let my parents check my watch history
I love how all the “how to write good fanfic” immediately pulls up those Harry Potter examples, specifically, *Draco*
We love a hot draco fanfic dont we xD
IKR
Yeah....
Lol yeah
I watched this video last year to write a Jungkook ff and.. now I'm here to write Draco ff and I forgot the Draco part in this video.
Another tip: USE THE ENTER KEY!! I've seen so many fanfics that are literally just a wall of text with no paragraphs.
Is it really that hard to just press enter every now and again to separate, for example, the discription of an item and when a person is speaking?
Digilover12 Yes this is very annoying and can make a fic unreadable for me.
How do you know when to put the spaces exactly I have a hard time with that
raven m I'm kinda late but press the enter key every time new dialogue is introduce. Every time a character is about to speak, press the enter key! I hope this helped a bit~
i wish i could scream this from the top of a rooftop so all fanfic writers could hear this
A.k.a. use proper grammar and formatting.
This is my endless loop:
1. Gets a great idea
2. Writes chapters
3. Takes a break
4. Go back to writing
5. “WTF is this? Why did I write this?”
6. Deletes the whole thing
7. Repeat. (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)
facts help💀💀
I'll be like write something and after completing some pages read it to check mistake and found the whole thing as a big mistake 😂
1. Gets a great idea
2. Literally writes like 1500 words at the *most*
3. Gets bored and decides to come back to it another time
4. Loses interest and deletes draft
5. Repeat 🕺🏽
Imagine being the reader though
IM SO GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!
You've forgotten the most important kind of fanfiction..
X readers...
EDIT: why are y'all still interacting with this comment, i was TWELVE when i wrote this
Fairy_Chan 101 I personally don’t like them, but I read them anyway because of good plot
your right
I love me some good danganronpa x reader fanfictions.
I fucking hate them, mainly cuz all the descriptions are the same and oh my god there is no fucking plot. I read a few x Natasha Romanoff in a nice little story book, they were cute. Little adventures and shit.
There are both good and bad ones out there. You can usually tell what grade level people are at depending on how they write their x-readers.
Something as simple as forgetting a bag with something important in it can open up a world of possibilities for character conflict and development.
thanks
Preach
Thank you!
Noice!
This was a really helpful tip that I didn't realise would be interesting to add in an ff, thank you!! ☺️💜
I get tired of writing fanfic when there's no one even trying to read them.
Russel Niel Manrique Silva Maybe cause you have poor description and choices of words when doing so?
Good Luck!

PREACH QUEEN! I hate when people make Draco so nice. Like no. And I hate when people make ron horrible so that dramione can be a thing. No.
What makes me really weird it's when they change the personalities of the characters
Same 💀-
OMG yesss I hate when people make characters so OOC
+shami pant Yeah same here!
+RafiRaffee ( • ̀ω•́ )✧

What’s oc???
@@jiminsjawlinecutme1897 ooc stands for Out of character. So when you're writing a fanfiction meaning you're using characters (that arent yours) from a show or book you might make them say or do things that isnt normal for them , or that doesnt fit with how they acted in their show.

I beg to disagree with the self-insert thing. Self-insert CAN be done well, as long as you don’t make your avatar character absolutely perfect.
Give yourself some flaws when inserting yourself. And don’t expect the main cast to know your avatar immediately.
Right, I'm fine with reading author inserts, I just don't like when there is no flaw as the character becomes to unrelatable.
HPMoR was a bit of a self-insert, and although some might hate it, a lot of people think it was one of the best fanfictions ever.
One of my favorite types of fanfic are self-inserts that are done well, and most of them aren’t even x reader fics. Sadly, those kinds are extremely rare; I can only count the number of ones that I’ve read on one hand
@@Samookely Can you name some of them?
I agree! I've read several reader-inserts that were incredibly well done. This is especially the case when they have an interesting, unique story about how they got into that world and experience inner conflict about staying vs. getting back to their own world (if they even can).
I just avoid Existing Character x OC stories like a plague. I really don't like them.
Dx
+Galaxy Neko if you like slash fiction though I always like it when they shove in a male oc within the main pairing since it usually very rare
ルカスチール oh yeah but only to make the other existing character jealous ;)

I’ve been working on a Warrior Cats fanfiction for a while now and I’m really excited about it! :D
- Key points -
1. Have a plot: Intro, conflict, climax, falling action, resolution > "a story without conflict is not a real story"
2. Stay in character (e.g. a bitchy person isn't going to be nice for no reason)
3. Avoid Mary Sue & reader insert > biggest turn off is when an author inserts herself into a fanfiction and makes herself perfect, flawed characters are more relatable
4. Don't use too many dialogues > sounds messy
5. Don't use too much description > consider what the reader is interested in, just get into the story!
6. Use the right POV: 1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person > limited input based on which character is telling the story
7. Don't type in a whole ass song
8. Check your spelling and grammar and find beta readers
Lol.
+Amber96Anime Yep I agree!
Haha I can totally relate to that (ᗒᗊᗕ)
Agree, bad grammar hurts my eyes too, even though my grammar is not perfect either, at least it's readable xD

I also just love reading about peoples OCS since making and reading about characters is something I love.
i got a 2 tips first is characters
you can make a personality for a character and then if you want to use a kpop idol, an actor, an insta model or whoever popular, make sure you write that before you publish your story, for example you have a character with a shiny personality and is nice to everyone, but you want him to look like Draco, then make sure you mention that, if you write everything about hogwatrs then it's stupid to change the peoples personality
for the description, i think (personally) writing details helps with your imagination, as to imagine that scene and everything how it happened, but ofc you don't wanna over do it (as she said in the video) uste the enter key, it's better to make a few middle length paragraphs than to have the whole page written out or you can use pictures, for places and clothes even tho i personally prefer describing it out
hope you stay motivated and do a great job❤️

("Realistically" haha,,)
I'm on my second draft for the story and nearly finished, but I plan to make a THIRD draft just to make sure it's all good.
I could go on about my story and how much of a pain it's been, but it's really a labor of love, and it all started with an idea and my (now) best friend ❤

What type of fanfiction do you like to read the most
Me : sweating profusely
Me : you know everybody does this I just need my daily dose of angst

Because i find it super cringe to use them idols as the villains of the story lmao 💀

i used to write fanfics but i stopped because of several reasons.

+Not Jemeh Ah I know how that feels. I stopped writing too once I got in college because there just wasn't enough time.

shh don’t expose yourself
I am always chanting "quality over quantity, show don't tell" in my mind and sometimes even out loud when writing descriptive bits. Another thing that really helps figure out the quality thing is "What can the people in the story see?" Like Raven's gloves and stockings, it's not important unless either the people outside can see it, or that specific pair of gloves is something for the rereaders to cry about because they know they're importantly sad later on. Important style choices are either relevant to the interpersonal(relating to others) or intrapersonal(relating to the self)
Also, another descriptive thing that's really important to me.
Even shooing away thoughts counts as a personality at play if it's accompanied by a "I have to focus on what I'm doing." a clumsy or disciplined person could both have that thought, distinguished maybe by a "I should be responsible" or a "With my luck, I'd burn the house down."
And everyone's funny in their own head!
I feel like she's staring at my soul... xD
