    I remember back in the day we had some large four wheel bale trailers with turn tables, it was a matter of pride to reverse one of those in to a shed without having to shunt forward.
    Thank you for the update. It was interesting to note that for the price of two modern balers one could have purchased the Barnby Manor Estate, (1000 acres) near Newark in 1967 for £25000

    I was quite proud of the fact,that I was the only one that could back a four wheel trailer into a shed without hitting the doors or pillars,that was with a load of small bales on it. And build a stack of small bales with a pitch roof that didn't fall down,it was build corners right stack will stand.

    Good morning Andrew , I know you don’t tend to Plough , I always used to Plough a quarter or a fifth of my acreage depending on field sizes , roundup first . I found it well worth it for structure and weed control . Hope you have a good autumn for drilling , and a proper winter and spring .

    Looks like self aligning Plummer block bearings so should be beneficial on a long shaft. Worth the investment and proved a worthwhile modification to a number of industrial production machines over the years in my experience. The worst saving you can make in heavy machinery is buying cheap bearings a lesson first learned in the army when so many cheap Polish bearings failed in gunnery owing to cheap purchases by MoD civil Service.

    Interesting update! Usually you incorporate all the straw into the soil, to avoid blackgrass contamination, and as green manure, right terminology?!? So with baling it’ll just be the stubble… will that make a difference to the nutrition of the soil with less material being chopped and incorporated? As you’ve baled will you need to compensate with a spray or sewage sludge or something?

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The lack of straw does not help because it’s organic matter going in but I think 1 year won’t make much difference.

    Watching from 🇺🇸, I didn’t realize so much of the straw went to be consumed at a power station. I don’t fault farmers at all for seeking out any source of revenue available (I would too) but am glad to hear yours goes for livestock bedding. Seems like a better use…
