The Recipe For This Video: 4 cups Flour (plus a little extra for rolling) 1tsp Salt 1tsp Baking Powder 2Tbsp Sugar 1cup Milk 2 Eggs 1/3 cup Melted Butter or Margarine(plus a little more for topping after frying) Oil for frying Cinnamon Sugar: 1/2 cup Sugar 2tsp Cinnamon
This were so good ! I remember when I used to be little and my family and I would go to Indiana Beach, I wouldn't do anything else but would have to have an elephant ear.
Putting the ingredients in the description box would save on going back over the recipe a few times. Using a cutter would help you make the “balls” easier.
I made these all the time when my kids were little but discovered another way to fry them, especially if you have a crowd and want something quicker. I used to pinch off small balls of dough and deep fry the balls then finish with butter and sugar and cinnamon. We always called them cinnam balls. They were awesome and cooked up so quick. Of course, I still love and make them the traditional way but the cinnamon balls cook up so much more in a smaller amount of time and are a hit in my family.
I have tried to make these before they came out so, so.. But just got out of the kitchen after following your great instructions.. And I'm Munching on a Elephant ear with my cup of coffee.. What a great recipe thanks a bunch for posting..
Thank you so much for sharing. I'd rather do this and make a bunch for my family and save the cost of entrance fair fee just to go in and buy one elephant ear. I did that last year only to find out they weren't even available:(
This looks so good! Winters coming... Fair is over so I know I'm gonna be craving these sometime soon! Lol now I can make them myself!! :) thanks so much for posting! God bless!
baking soda does not have the same chemicals as baking powder so I don't think you can use baking soda instead of baking powder but you could use yeast 😊
Hi I just tried your recipe and followed your instructions. My dough was sticky and I could not roll it out so added more flour. This seeemed to solve my problem but when it came to frying they just came out tough. can you give me some insight on how to prevent sticky dough and tough ears??
Will you love me and promise to make them for me once a month? I will love you and take care of you for ever and ever and ever.... hehe You made me so hungry!!! hehe

I tried this recipe and mine were very doughy on the inside.

Why the butter thing? Why cant it be mixed in with the wet ingredients?

Looks DELICIOUS!!!
These are bunuelos, not elephant ears, not even close
We call them elephant ears in America.
Actually what you are referring to is deep fried tortilla bread. They are similar but elephant ears are better.
What can I use instead?
A cup or win bottle. Something like that.
Will try and report!
Christopher Davidson it’s been 3 years...
What if you don't have a rolling pin? :(
flatten it out with your hands
you can use a cup and just use the cup like a rolling pin
true but then it would surround around the cup and u would have circles everywhere :3
Kate Willam i've heard a wine bottle works.
Use tortillas
Will you love me and promise to make them for me once a month? I will love you and take care of you for ever and ever and ever.... hehe You made me so hungry!!! hehe
Betty over at Betty's Kitchen channel also has an Elephant Ear video, but yours look better. And you dowse them with butter at the end. Awesome!
Betty uses yeast
