  • In November 2022 Baltimore native Wes Moore, a Rhodes scholar, Army officer and White House Fellow, became the first Black person to be elected Governor of Maryland. But his life story, as told in his bestselling 2010 book "The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates," could not have been more different from that of another Baltimore man, also named Wes Moore, whose fate was to be imprisoned for life for murder. Correspondent Russ Mitchell talks with both Wes Moores in this "CBS Sunday Morning" report that originally aired May 2, 2010.

Great throwback interview. Especially with Charles Osgood. I miss him on Sunday Morning, but the memories of him on the show, as well as vintage reporting/stories, are missed, too.

Edited to Add: Thank you for updating the disruption.
@CBSSundayMorning - Could you edit the video description to correctly read "first Black person to be elected Governor of Maryland" instead of "first Black to be elected Governor of Maryland" ?

I like what he said about how he thought that everything was supposed to come at light speed and didn't have the insight to see that he needed patience and time to create a better life the honest way

The benefit of a private education. That is the major environmental difference here and a good argument for school choice.

Baltimore City has lacked a decent education system to elevate this culture to contribute and to better themselves. This has been going on for many years.
