(Thinking you might catch this here) Just found this Channel in my Feed. *Subscribed, have watched 5, and shared 1 on Facebook* (the Effile Tower Sales X2 - baaaaaaaa) Cracked me up - see my comment on that one - funny. Enjoying this - a little too much! 🎈 HaPpY HoLiDaYs! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 🎄🎅🎁💫🎶🎆🎊🎉🎄 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 PS I truly enjoyed the Irish subjects - if you see this and if you have content on individuals of Western Ireland, specifically *County Kerry and County Cork I would be most appreciative.* (My lineage is from Kerry - my G Grandparents - Murphy and Sullivan; and the other side Cork, goes way back G Grandfather X 6 - Lynch, founded Lynchburg, VA) Also - the Basque Country - our pre Irish Ancient Lineage - those guys have a plethora of potential Stories. Even Julius Caesar advised his Troops to avoid the Basque - to the effect of: "they just keep coming back - ya can't kill the fellas" lol Basque are hard headed and tough as concrete! roflol - no wonder the Irish are contrary! 🍀💚🍀 Great work here - I love history, took it as electives so many time I ended up with a Minor in History back in College. I've done vast research over the past 5+ years - Good Narrative Speaking Voice and Diction. (Journalism was one of my majors - Voice and Diction, Broadcasting, Public Speaking a focus) Where is the Channel Host - Narrator from - I'm not familiar with dialects - and therefore I've mistaken an Irish for English recently. The man does not accent up at the end of words/phrases, like the more common Irish and Scottish accents - they are delightful. (I'm USA - and I've always had a good ear for US dialects - and that gets challenging even here, in certain regions.) *Lastly, there's a Channel I've followed for quite a while that you might enjoy too: "The History Guy"* - I believe you'll appreciate both his subjects and his style - and it's "a history worth remembering" focus. 💫🍀💫
It's too bad maclaine didn't realize the values his father tried to instill into his life! He had a much better start in his life because it was so important to his father. He threw it away
Relaxing voice, I sit with my eyes closed, my son puts my cell on pause, I look up at him like hey I can still hear what he is saying..... Another good one by the way thanks.
Came from your brothers channel by recommendation in his latest video, you guys sound very similar with your voices haha, I like the concept of your videos man they are pretty interesting ! Definitely subscribed
Your channel is a daily interesting and information source. Your opening, music, photos and narration are fantastic! You are one dedicated, intelligent and articulate cool guy!
Hello, I was sent to you by BC and CR. I am happy they did, and I have subbed. Now I will spend my evening catching up on all your vids. Great job, thank you, and stay safe and well❤😘👍👍🇬🇧.
Another wonderful video Forgotten Lives. Wow! This individual, James MacLaine was quite a wild one and seemed to only want the women he married for their money. He also didn't appear like the brightest lightbulb because he was constantly losing his money. Thank you for always being amazing!🙂 Well being so far in the past I don't think we will ever know if it was the same William Plunkett? The age definitely wouldn't make sense? Unless it was exaggerated because that's age was almost unheard in that time period.
@@lindamaemullins5151 An understandable response. Because I reread my own comment and I was confused as well. ☺️ I'm not sure what I was rambling about? 🤔
So highwaymen were basically 17th-18th century cowboys , interestingly the song whiskey in the jar dates from this time period. Other famous Irish highwaymen are James Freney, Count Redmond O'Hanlon, Willy Brennan, and Jeremiah Grant.
I've just found out that this guy was a distant ancestor of mine; it seems that I'm descended from his non-criminal brother. Very interested to learn this; thank you for the revealing presentation of his unfortunate story.
Hanged for stagecoach robbery and another for forgery and theft...that’s kind of harsh considering they didn’t punish rapists and child molesters the same (that’s still very much a form of theft, and far worse than stealing items which cannot remember anything being taken). The system of crime and punishment has almost always been quite the joke.
I'd heard of Plunkett but not of Maclain.Again, an interesting story so thankyou for posting it. I've no idea if Plunkett the highwayman did morph into Colonel Plunkett but legends do tend to evolve around so called romantic characters. I suppose it is unlikely but who knows... All I know is that I may need some kind of therapy to break my addiction to your channel .🤗
Idk if it's the same man, many criminals change their names even today when people are arrested & finger printed there may be a long list of fake names they have given to police on various arrests. Maybe he thought by adding a Col. before his name made him a new person ? 😊Very interesting story ,I am enjoying your content .
You’re very polite at the end of your stories, and I think that’s quite sweet. Only thing please try to cut the monotonous tone. Extremely interesting stories, please keep them coming. Thank you 😃👍🏼
I love your channel but please make the background music quieter. I often listen to some sort of narration to help me sleep and the music detracts from immersion into your storys. Either way, thank you for your work.
You have a lovely tone and style but your pronunciation is quite dreadful in places. Are you able to have someone help and point those out? "Find clothing', instead of fine and many more words. Some will call me a picky cow but you're obviously bright. Mispronouncing words can set you back. x
I enjoy your videos. But please stop using the term, "the person that did this." I'm not a language snob, but the proper usage is, "the person who did this." People are "who " or "whom.",and things are "that."
At minute 10:45 it's meant to say 1750, sorry about that didn't pick up on my mistake :/
Honest mistake :-)
It happens!
Don't worry! You are doing great! Relisten the videos as always. Thank you for amazing stories!

@@ForgottenLives You'are very welcome! Really, love all on your channel🙏
Great Video !! It's interesting to see how people can have it all and then for greed and stupidity they can loose it and end up in the gutter.

Very true! He coud have had a bright life!

Forgotten Lives 😀
My favorite movie is Plunkett and MacLeane, so cool to hear the true story of them.
Never seen, might have to!
same🥰
Yes , it is a fun watch and shares some astute observations .
@Arthur Duke Plunkett & Macleane is the name of the movie, asshat. Look it up.

Well done. Wow.... they had very stiff penalties for robbery. I may have to do some digging now because I want to know how Plunkett got off scot-free.
Thanks for watching! I think it was just because he escaped, there isn't too much information on it!
very well done... subscribed!

I love hearing about this time period, how do you choose your subjects?
Great!! I just research people's lives around the 17-19th century and see I find anyone fairly unkown and interesting!
@@ForgottenLives you should do a video about Sawney Beane.
@@your_belief_vs_everything I'm related to Sawney and have many momento's of his life.

Thank you again , for educating me yet again . I had no idea the movie was based on real people
Very good many thanks
I don't think the the other man was the real William Puckett, but there's just no way to know for sure. You always have such fascinating videos!

You have to think that with so many admirers he could have made himself a much better life without being a criminal.
Loved the movie
👍🏼👍🏼
Is it useful to you if I put up with the ads? If not, I'd rather listen to you 👍🏻
My great uncle is an ancestor of James Mclaine he’s called neille mclaine
Aging yourself would make you innocent. I doubt Plunkett was as old as he claimed. He may have not been the highwayman, we will probably never know.
there were women that cried after the Boston Marathon bomber was charged & sentenced.// thanks for the upload..
Tyvvm...interesting! Yes, believe date error??
Thanks for watching! And yes :/
Isn’t this a movie?
Plunkett must have turned Q. E. That's what I reckon.
But its also a sad story
You said 3rd October 1950
A rare, kind criminal... different
Education seems to have no bearing on criminals past or resent.it always seems to be money or jealousy that is the cause.
What about another aristocrat character? I love all your stories.
Dont you mean 1750
Yep my error!! I pinned it at the top of the comments sorry if I confused you!
1950? Dont you mean 1750?
