    I watched the Autodoc version of this and decided to go ahead and change my shock absorbers. By chance I came up on this video and I ended up using your method instead. Thanks!

      Yes I'm in the same position, saw the same Autodoc video, but they undone the track rod end and drive shaft bolts, but I found that's not required to do this job, seen several videos doing it this way, I found the top mount part particularly useful as all the other videos didn't go into that detail ! Though I have yet to do mine, I'm replacing the whole thing with new struts and top mounts and bearings, plus new coil spring so no need to compress the old spring, but still need to compress the new spring to mount it onto the new strut ! Feel a little nervous about compressing the spring now having listened to this lol, not done it before, how did you get on with your fitting ?.

      I bought a sturdy spring compression tool and with that it was a walk in the park!

      @@Colin623 ”spring compressor tool car” search that on TH-cam and You Will find What I used. The user Marco Pereira use exactly the same.

    Great video, this is the only video I have seen on YT that pays attention to the markings on the strut mount/bearing, love the way you explain everything and don't rush through it like most videos on YT. Thank you, I have to do this job soon, now I feel confident about doing this, don't have such a great spring compressor, but have got a decent pair, but also a cheaper pair that will act as secondary compressors once I have compressed the springs then I will add the second pair as a safety precaution !

    great instruction,and is there a lancashire tea ? ,theres only one yorkshire tea,i did not know that a strut cover was called a bugger in oldham lol,the strut compressor is a great tool but again the expense is justified by usage,and i have never met anyone on the tools who is not fazed when compressing coils,its bloody scary no matter how many times you have done it,great video lass.

    I have done as per your video, but not 100% sure everything is correct, when you replaced the strut mount/bearing assembly and tightened the centre retaining nut, does the top strut mount spin easily ? When I put the spring pressure onto it almost impossible to move ! So relaxed the centre nut and it moved but not easily ! is this normal please or have I done something wrong ? I can't do the second strut until I know where I've gone wrong with the first ! so would very much appreciate a reply please, Thank you.

    • @autolass
      @autolass  ปีที่แล้ว

      The centre nut has to be very tight, please don’t relax that nut.
      The bearing will move when the weight is back on it / when fitted 🫶🏻

      @@autolass Oh thank you so much, was sweating on this answer lol, I was kind of thinking this way anyway, but then I have no experience of doing this work before, so relieved I haven't messed it up ! Thank you for answering so quickly, I can now assemble my second strut assembly as I'm doing a straight swap for both struts, my C70II has covered 104k miles, so decided to buy all the bits and make complete new assemblies to do a straight swap !

    These springs fail all the time.
    Best to replace with Eibach Springs.

      Yeah my garage said the steel isn’t as pure as it used to be and he showed me sparkly bits in the break on my 2016 v40 springs which showed brass in the steel!
