I remember when they were building that, tons of re-bar in it. It was built to last. Never knew what it was for until today, so thank you for the info. Sky-tram, huh. 14 million down the tubes for a pipe dream. That's city Philly city government for ya. They should have started on the Jersey side. This expensive and embarrassing eyesore might never have been built if they did. How many tourists and native Philadelphians scratched their heads trying to figure out what this was over the past 20 years. Wtf took them so long to dismantle it is even more mind boggling.
Thanks. I've actually wanted to know the whole story. Usualy I can find enough to get at least an understanding. But it wasn't so for story. Now that I've watched your video I'm satisfied. Which is funny. Because I never settle for info from one source. Yet: Because I respect you as a Philadelphian that wants to document all that was about our great city. Be it good or bad. And as that historian I believe what you say rings true. Sorry. I know. To long. But I am so glad that you took time to explain this, thank-you.
In videos like this I usually have links to some news sources. The article for this story is very funny. I did a story about Larry from the 3 Stooges saving a family from a fire on Kensington Ave and that story has a source that is beautiful to read.
Very informative and fun !
I leaned alot about soda cans on this one!
The Philly Captain fancy pop tops 😜
I never knew what the hell that thing was!!! And I always wondered!!! Great video!!! Thank you :-)

I don't know how you start something without having everything 100% ready to go. Crazy

What about the unused trolley line under the Ben Franklin?
Is there a way to it?
@@ThePhillyCaptain You are the Philly guy, I know you will find a way.
Is there some reason to demolish it at this point? Are they putting something there after they get rid of it?
a massive urban development called the penns landing capping. has a huge park and a bunch of buildings where it is
