After watching many Bob Ross art pieces I was curious to see his teacher and I am glad to see the unique and detailed style, passion and personality this wonderful artist had and seeing how Bob got his amazing talent from Bill's amazing techniques and methods. Bless this man for teaching others to pass on his glorious work and his predecessors.

Calling Bob's capabilities "amazing talent" is an overstatement, he's not nearly as good in technique, brush strokes, colors, and couldn't paint almost anything besides these landscapes, Alexander had a bigger range, and you can see him painting a bigger variety of subjects.
But Bob is a far better entertainer, there is no wonder in why one reached a larger audience.

I grew up in the 80s and watched Bill Alexander and later Bob Ross on PBS.
We need more quality shows that teach and inspire people to create. Their shows are very mesmerizing to watch even if you don't paint. You learn prospective and how colors work together while watching. He truly was a master of his art. I am thankful his shows are here on TH-cam so I can share them with my children.

Alexander Art, I want to thank you so much for bringing 'Bill' back to us. Many years ago I spent days just waiting for that 30 minute 'Happy Painting' to happen. Bill is just as great today as he was back then. His art and passion is special. Bill and Bob Ross share many of the 'wet in wet' techniques, but each one is an individual and has their own special ways to handle the brush and knife. I appreciate viewing Bill's work again. As much as I love to see Bob Ross paintings in The Alexander style, and think them to be excellent works. I observe that william Alexander's personally perfected style of paintings are much more detailed and colourful than the clones. Bill was without a doubt a true master of His technique and should be held in higher esteem in the art world. Bill is funny and quirky and sometimes gets overexcited and passionate to the point that it affects how he expresses his language. May his mighty brush forever be the hallmark to the magic of the Alexander technique. He is loved by many including myself.

Bach innovated and took the concepts of Vivaldi to new heights. He was no copy-cat who parroted another great composer. Bach's work was unique and that's why we remember and revere him today. Beethoven did the same thing. He learned from his master, innovated the concepts and set a new standard for writing symphonies. In fact, Beethoven innovated the symphony so well that other composers in his time gave up writing them because they knew they couldn't create better works.

Actually Bob gave Bill much credit for his career. Bob actually went and studied with Bill. There was even an episode where Bill, literally, handed over the brush to Bob.
If you look at Bob's first shows, he uses the word "almighty' just like Bill.
I believe they had a falling out because you never heard Bob talk about Bill, or use the word "almighty' soon after Bob started broadcasting.
I'm assuming Bill had a problem with how much money Bob was making and felt some resentment. Then again, I'm just guessing.

What was that, I don't know what to call it, on the side of the first building? It looks like a gang tagged his house.
Don't get me wrong, I love Onkel Willi but that wasn't up to his usual stuff.

I dislike all those talks about rivalry that pop up around :(
My takeaway from this first Alexander's video I see is "Great, now I have TWO B( _insert your favorite painter here_ )s!"

I could not possibly agree more with this! There's so much to learn and take away from them both. I was, and still am, an avid Ross fan. I found out who his mentor was and decided to see what he can do.
I was ANYTHING but disappointed :)

Bill is a great painter, but Bob really has developed Bills style of painting in to something more refined, smooth and stylized, but maybe a touch too safe or neutral. Bills' style is more crude, messy and wild, but more visually interesting. Bill's paintings seem better from afar...?

Over silly things like that, I think anxiety is simply self-induced.
