In big stores, reallly make sure the person helping you is the AQUATIC SPECIALIST! It really depends on who helps you, and how good they are at aquatics.

I loved it when you said " oh another brown or silver fish"...lol! That's so true!! I envy you living in Chicago 😔 ( Aquatic Experience ect....). I am waiting on a fellow club member for his Apisto Inca 50 to breed. I want some!! Great info. Thanks for sharing 😊👍

After whatching all V part... Do i need to put bacteria in it ? When i started looking on how to setup a tank, most of the video/forum where speaking about Nitrate cycles... So if i follow your V steps... i can put my fish directly in the tank ? (Probably not :p)
Sharing my story :
The pet store vendor told me i need to way 3 weeks (for water conditionner) before putting fish... Currently this part is ongoing.
The fish have already been bough (simple goldfish basic to start) so he is waiting in a bacteria free tupperware 14L (3 gallon)... I swap water every 2 days even bough a test kit to look at nitrate and stuff (

I was really considering getting into fish and the aquarium hobby. That is until I watched parts 1-6. I have a 40 gallon tank that I use to use for reptiles that I was going to convert into a fish tank. You have officially changed my mind!

Oh man, I'm right there with you. Wife was telling me how she'd like to have a fish tank. I'm thinking 'hmm, her B-day is coming up'. I've watched 1-6 of this series and will now do my best to talk her out of it!

The top fish store in my area, oye. The advice they gave me about cycling a tank was COMPLETELY WRONG, based on your’s, and other TH-camrs’ advice. They wanted the sale and they used to not be like that. I went to PetSmart and walked out empty-handed when the guy there told me not to get any fish til I Cycled my tank. It’s crazy, you just never know. It’s really all luck.

I don't have access to any of the fish I want here, mainly dwarf cichlids like rams and kribensis. If I order them onlline do you have a recommendation for an online store that would have these and a good reputation for shipping fish? Thank you!

I mostly buy at the swaps and auctions. Much cheaper there. That’s where I sell too. 😀
As someone that works in a big box store I would say the issue we have is we have to buy minimum amounts of fish and I feel like due to the over breading or the fish in the bags sometimes 2 or more days prior to coming into the store. I would also like to add that we are not allowed to have a holding tank to quarantine that are aquariums are holding tanks till the owners take them home to Quarantine them before adding them into there tanks. Also alot of people lie about there tanks and then blame us for the fish dieing. I could go on. Love your videos and I always encourage others to do there research. Thanks Bud

Weird right?! 😀 I re-did the first 5 parts but haven’t gotten around to re-doing part 6.

But is it true that petsmart don't take good care of their fish?
Really depends on the individual store. I have seen some that revival any LFS and others that are horrible.

I’m more concerned with the nitrogen cycle and what fish are compatible because it seems every fish I research are aggressive males😅 I just don’t want to screw up; as a first timer that is. Thank you for responding! Can you please make a video of what fish are compatible and what fish aren’t?

Hi Jason, I am just starting out and researching about aquatics and finding your channel really helpful. I am not sure yet weather i am going to go down the path of a community set up and wondered what your thoughts and advice would be on adding the African dwarf frogs with tropical fish. i would appreciate any pros and cons. I might just stay with fish at first. Sometimes the frogs present feeding and stocking issues.
