    That looks like a very nice handy knife, with a good price. Might pick one up, thanx for the video!! Subbed!

    Did they make a bigger version of this design, closer to 4". I agree it would be the perfect knife if they did! Nothing wrong with the Bushlore, however, the thicker handle on this, is what makes me like this more!! Merry Christmas!!

    For some reason ... it's good to see how the Condor puukko fits into your sampling of the knife world. I don't know, does Joker make a puukko? If not, they should.

      Not sure if they have one called a puukko but some of their line are certainly similar.

    Both the Tops Puuko and the Condor are Goran Designs as you said and definitely take cues from Mors wants and needs in a knife , great video my friend i need to get a Travitta as well, Have the Tops and love it !

    I absolutely love that shape blade. That design is about as good as you can get. I believe with TH-cam people have lost touch with what you really need. They seem to have this crazy expectation of needing a giant chopper. To be realistic in my 35 years in the woods I’ve never needed a huge knife. Usually I used a folding lock back more then 20 years. I didn’t use fixed blades because they most likely came right hand carry. So being left handed I always had to get a sheath made. It wasn’t until recently knives started coming in sheaths you can switch either hand.
    I like the puuko design because it’s good for cleaning fish as well as wood work. I’m a fisherman. I love following rivers and lakes then camping and fishing. So I like a small knife and a machete.
    I use the coldsteel mini Pendleton hunter. I really love that knife. I just got the condor terrachete haven’t used it yet. I plan on messing with it tomorrow.
    But realistically a small knife and a folding saw will cover everything I need.
    How’s the heat treatment on the condor I’ve heard mixed reviews on their stuff? I guess you’d call it luck of the draw.
    Another knife I really enjoy is BPS adventurer an Hultafor OK4.

    Good discussion. I'm with you on handles. I've had surgery on both wrists and arthritis in my hands, so a thin handle is painful for me to get a grip on. I like putting curly maple or walnut handles on high carbon blades like Green River or Old Hickory, and I keep the handles on the large side.

    • @CommonCentsOutdoorsman
      @CommonCentsOutdoorsman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I can't think anything good about thin handles unless it's a small pocket knife. I like something to hold onto.

    Thank you for the video, really helpful.
    I prefer smaller knives like this Condor, you have a better control with it.
    For us in the UK, the only shop that sells it is in Finland and it costs $125, I'm not sure that's worth it.
    There are quite a few reports online that Condor's heat treatment is hit or miss, I would be interested if you can do a follow up video after you use it for a while.
    PS. Wouldn't someone who lives in the Amazon design a knife with a stainless steel blade?

      I really still like this knife.handles very well.have several other Condors with 1095 with no problems. This one will certainly be back on video. Yup, stainless would make sense. Thanks for the great comment.

    I've been wanting some info on that new condor. The older I get, the lighter and smaller my kit is getting. Maybe something a little different from my Mora, Hudson Bay and sak farmer lol. We did have a exceptional winter lol. Now that you're leaving the great white north, we'll have too start a new round of where's Waldo ! Have a great trip !

    Got my Trivittata. Wanted one so bad. Waited for the money, and orders it up. $126 CDN. Thought I'd try Condor one more time. Sheath was crap and my knife had a big gouge out of the edge. After three months I asked for any replacement. Got the Bisonte (which I never wanted) just to get something of value out of the purchase.
    Personally, I'll never buy another Condor again.

    Blessings. I’m looking to pull the trigger on either this blade or the Tanimboca. I wear large gloves and sometimes (as an electrician) a medium to get a better “touch”. I would like an edc that can go from work to woods. Something nice for holding and using for long periods of time. If you care to share your thoughts, I’m happy to listen. Thanks.

      You could not go wrong with either of these picks. Natural looking handles and brown leather are my favorite look. Both are comfy but I would give the edge to the Condor as it seems to melt in my hand. Tops 1095 gets the edge on steel quality though. If you're not getting too rough with it and want something lighter, nimble and less expensive, I love Marttiini or Mora. I have more Vids on Marttiini. The Lumberjack or Lumberjack Black Kaamos. These makers slso give you a choice of carbon or stainless on some models. I also enjoy the Rapala drop point hunter which is stainless. They all have a comfy grip and no hand fatigue at all. Stick tangs are tough enough. Can never go wrong with a Mora Campanion either but I like the Marttiini steel and edge better. It's a tough choice. Good luck brother!

      @@CommonCentsOutdoorsman
      Blessings. I appreciate your time and feedback. I’ve had a few stick tangs and for the most part they have been strong. However my Kansbol bit the dust (broke just inside the handle), and I don’t think I was abusive. As a matter of fact it happened while my 11 year old son was batoning a branch about wrist thick. My Helle….tang held up fine. It was the handle that time. Loosened up to a full 360 swivel and no amount of epoxy could hold it. So a “fuller” tang, is for me, peace of mind. But again, your insights are appreciated, and I enjoy your channel. So please keep talking that talk, because plenty of us out here love knives.

    I think Goran did the design but didn't have much say in the blade steel. A carbon steel is ok for an impact blade like a machete but a small camp knife you also gonna use for food prep in carbon steel and with a leather sheath that takes days to dry is not smart. And I've been to Colombia and Thailand during rainy season and nothing stays dry. So stainless steel and a kydex or plastic sheath is the way to go in these environments. I do agree that the handle needs to feel comfortable. But in these parts of the world you will not find Mora or Tops or Condor. They are made for the American market.

    • @CommonCentsOutdoorsman
      @CommonCentsOutdoorsman  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd rather have it in stainless also.

    • @StevanOutdoor
      @StevanOutdoor 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CommonCentsOutdoorsman Even a simple 440C, 12C27 or AUS 8 would do. Add a kydex or plastic sheath and now you have a functional small camp knife even in wet environments.

      @BOSExperience True. At times I would go out of my way to find stainless knives I like but simple carbons are cheap and easy for makers to work with so sometimes you gotta role with it brother. I do enjoy this one.

    • @StevanOutdoor
      @StevanOutdoor 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CommonCentsOutdoorsman I think you're right and also maybe Americans are more 'traditional' so there might be less demand for stainless steel knives. Here in Europe it's basically the opposite. For instance I really liked the ESEE RB3 model but it's like some 200usd in my country so pretty expensive. Still it's 1095 carbon steel with a leather sheath and that doesn't work for me. One river crossing and you spend your time outdoors looking after your knife. I came across this Chinese factory called 'Brother' and their model F006 is a copy of the exact knife but in 440C stainless steel and with a very good kydex sheath including a teck lock AND delivered to my door for some 30usd. It's a great knife that fits my needs and I don't have to worry about it after a river crossing.
