I was looking for an updated speaker to replace my Braven 405 and decided to order this speaker. Your review confirmed I made the right choice. It smoked the JBL overall. Thx!!
What a timely review - I've been waiting for this guy to come back in stock! Can't wait to take it to the beach. From what I've seen online, pretty much all the Tribit stuff is good and at a good value. Thanks for the review!
I finally got mine and I really like it. It's not going to knock your socks off in terms of filling a crowded room (unless you were to link 2 of them together) but it's it's not meant to. I really like that it seems to have been built with a very specific purpose of being small, durable, and easy to use without sacrificing sound. The sound itself is extremely full and balanced...kind of like my Galaxy Buds+. It definitely gets plenty loud for it's intended use. Thumbs up!
Believe me if you get 2 of these and are looking for a really good portable sound system set them up as stereo pair not party mode and you will get a really good sounding portable system I have them set up with a dual output 20,000 mha battery pack and they can play till the party is over but of course these are not boomboxes so as long as your expectations are reasonable you will be very happy with them.
The Tribit Micro is to be compared versus JBL FLIP4, not the CLIP, which is not on the same level of audio quality. There's even some good review around where the Tribit Micro outperform a B&O A1, which cost twice the JBL FLIP, and 5X the Tribit. Great design !
I’m a pretty avid cyclist and have had the same Boombotix speaker for around 3 years (unfortunately they don’t make them anymore) and this review was just what I needed to get a new speaker thank you!
Hey guys. How does this speaker perform with low volume audio? Tribit's SoundMax Plus cuts the audio on the lowest parts of songs (like the start or end of calm songs) or low background ambient sound on videos, when both the source audio and the speaker are low. Can anyone confirm if this also happens on StormBox Micro?
i have the same tribit its super bass , but i want t o know weather i can connect to the laptop with the cable of ear phone output and connect to the speaker with out Bluetooth so i can open you tube from my laptop and listen to music on the speaker
I know I'm getting old, a few years shy of 50, but I wish devices had less multi-function buttons (or more single use buttons). Specifically the phone button. I end up hanging up calls trying to use bluetooth devices when switching from music to answering a call. Also forwarding/selecting a track is another function I wish had its own buttons. I feel there maybe a market for devices with multiple buttons instead of multi-use buttons.
They've always annoyed me. Have to remember what every device's multi tap does. I'm all for keeping it simple/minimal/clean... but not at the expense of usability.
I just got a free Google Nest Mini. It's not as good as these two speakers but I was really impressed with the quality of the sound and bass was decent. Gr8 vid. 🔊
I turned mine on then put it in the washer and then the dryer. It's nice and clean and worked the whole time. this thing is one tough speaker. 5 stars *****
Bro I don’t know. I swear I cut that out. I obviously wouldn’t keep the bg music over the sound test so not sure what happened. I screen the video before render too so it’s a mystery. I can’t go back and change it either so looks like the video has to remain the way it is.
I thought it was intentional and something that an audio reviewer should specifically pay attention to.. sorry for the rude comment. I didn't dislike the video, but this was something to be pointed out. Now I know it was just weird sw doing its weird thing.
Any hissing / white noise / static? My problem is that almost all cheap bluetooth speakers start producing it as soon as turned on and connected via bluetooth...
No the Bose sounds better. But I feel most people went with the Clip simply because of price and the JBL name. And it was the speaker I grabbed the mist because of it’s convenience.
It sure does sound better than the bose and for half the price so for under $99.99 you can get 2 of these and set them up as stereo pair and you would kick the bose mini ass so bad it will go crying to its bigger brothers lol.
I’m not a scientist so I don’t know. But it is. Tested and confirmed. I’ve tested some waterproof flashlights with the usb cover open too and we’re fine. Some are waterproof, some aren’t.
It's a great sounding speaker for its size but a major flaw is the completely uncovered USBc port. Ok water and dust might not get past it but the electrical contacts themselves are unprotected. Otherwise this would be a great rugged speaker.
What do you ever mean by electrical contacts? Just dont charge it while wet. Otherwise sama like phone, no problem. If you so sceptical just go buy usb cover like you did your phone, didn't you?
@@fa14bi-78 What a satisfactory answer! 😂 Just cause of uncovered Charging port I chose charge⁴ over Flip⁵ Store guy didn't provide me this fact. 😀😀 But I don't think people submerge phone into the water as much as bluetooth speaker
The Tribit wins against the Soundlink Mini, the Soundlink Mini wins against the XB12, and the Xb12 wins against the Clip 3. Meaning the XB12 would stand no chance against the Tribit stormbox mini.
Man I've had at least 20 bluetooth speakers and for the size of the tribit stormbox micro I've never heard anything with so much real good sounding bass just to say that I had to set the bass frequencies on my eq to flat because it truly was just too much bass I've never had to do that with any other bluetooth speaker before so forget about the bose I have it and it now stays in the house in the sock drawer lol.
@@frankferman8994 Bro I'm sorry, do you have jbl go 3? Comparing jbl go 3 to tribit stormbox micro, which has better sound quality or clearity? I do not mean louder and bass, but only sound quality.. Thanks.
I just sent you a link to Alan Ross review of the jbl go 3 and the tribit micro he is very knowledgeable and has lots of technical information including frequency response charts for all the speakers he reviews I think you will find the information you are looking for on his review.
I love love love the size and the form factor of the Clip 3 but the sound is just meh. with said it wouldn’t be difficult for the StormBox Micro to sound better. So, I’ll just relegate the Clip to podcasts and use the Micro for music.

Hearing on a jbl tws. The difference picked up is insufficient and not doing justice. Hearing from this video the bass amd loudness hardly have any diffrence. They sound very similar even though I know the tribit would eat the jbl for breakfast on bass and loudness. This diffrence cannot be heard here. Use a better mic or do something , i dotn know.
@@ChrispyThings suit yourself. I was wrong for thinking you would be smart enough to know the purpose of doing comparison videos, which is actually to bring out the differences. Go ahead keep making useless videos.
Nice video but is that really a comparison? The Tribit Stormbox Micro deserves to be compared soundwise, to the B&O Beoplay A1 and even THERE it scores, because of it's price! JBL's Micros are pathetic.
Yes it’s a perfect comparison since JBL is one of the leaders in consumer Bluetooth speakers, regardless of personal opinion. And they’re the same class/size of speaker.
@@ChrispyThings Same size, price range, yes of course you are right but JBL's Micro speakers are for some reason, dismal. That is what I meant by same class. This Tribit is an excellent speaker and deserves to be compared to the heavyweights in Micros, B&O, Bose, Vifa and Soen etc
@@apusista it's not a good comparison, A1 is a lot bigger, at least 4 x the price and sounds much, much better. Better to compare it with speakers of a similar size and price range unless it can compete. A comparison with B&O P2 would be relevant but not the A1
@@edewar6004 Fair enough but I meant "if you consider the price to sound ratio", it beats all of them. The Beoplay A1 is definitely better but as you said, 4x the price and larger. It's crazy how much better the Tribit is compared to the JBL Clip 3. That bass is no joke either.
The down-firing bass is for placing the speaker on a cafe table, whose large surface area can magnify low frequencies. Clever.
