I was following the route of this thodu after the incident. It has 2 main branches which join to the north of Pattoor Junction. The branch to the east comes from Vayilikada and beyond via Plamood, Marapallam bridges. The branch to the west comes all the way from Njandoorkonam and beyond via Gowreeshapattom, Cosmopolitan Hospital Murinjapalam, Chalakuzhi lane, Ulloor bridge.
A little distance after these 2 branches combine, slightly to the north-west of Pattoor another small branch joins.
This branch originates from the Observatory Hill, probably somewhere near Public Swimming pool, flows through Valsala Nursing home lane, probably goes underground at Bakery Junction to resurface below the Panavila Jn-Chengalchula road, cuts through Chengalchula, goes below Model School Jn-Chengalchula road, flows behind Hycinth Hotel, Malayala Manorama office etc to reach Thampanoor KSRTC bus station, from there it flows underground around the bus station, next to Indian coffee house, resurfaces next to Railway parcel office where the incident happened the day before, then it cuts through the Railway station underground to resurface at the Powerhouse road, crosses the road proceeds towards Pazhavangadi Nalumukku Jn, turns right to Thakaraparambu Road, crosses the Powehouse-Thakaraparambu road, runs parallel to the Railway line till Uppidamoodu bridge, somehow reaches the front of the Vanchiyoor court complex, turns left proceeds to Pattoor Jn, crosses the junction and flows further to meet the combined Amayizhanjan thodu mentioned earlier.
Once all 3 branches have merged, the river widens and flows below the Kannamoola bridge, then the KIMS hospital bridge, winds around Pulayanarkotta hill and empties into the Akkulam lake some distance ahead of the Akkulam tourist village.
