Matt, I would like to compliment you on something most often overlooked by most TH-cam channel creators...you have remarkably clean audio on your channel. Most videos I see are not very well managed in the audio department. Yours is clean, no echo, and very succinct. Great job. And, your tutorials are awesome!
Perfect timing for an update and your video to help understand it! Thank you. The Point Color was a saviour as I had a set of hockey photos with the girls wearing bright pink sweaters. It was a killer trying to get the colour balance, reduce the glare of the ice and get enough contrast in the shadows. The Point Color was so much more functional than just the HSL sliders and other tools. Your video was very helpful. I still have a ton of work to do to get where I would like but off to a great start. Awesome video Matt. Thank you
Matt, I've been following you since the NAPP days and you've always been MY favorite instructor - clear, concise with no added bull!%$#. For me this upgrade is huge with respect using the Point Color on my color infrared images. It really is amazing how far LR has come. Thanks so much.
I watched two other videos covering this Lightroom update and yours is by far the best, including some crucial details on the newly presented features.
Thank you so much, Matt. Fantastic tutorial as usual. It feels like Adobe is clearly aiming LR at photographers and Photoshop at designers. So less and less is needed to move between them, although the new 'Creative Fill' in PS is mind-blowing (Well sometimes, lol)
Per usual, Matt, your video here is like your other instructional tuts; concise, spot on and most importantly- easy to understand for even the most novice CC user. Thanks....again. :)
Damn! That worked well for me today. I came onto TH-cam to find out how to move my photos to an external HD. Scott solved this for me. Because of time restraints and life in general photography has not been so prominent for me for some time, so it made sense to me to archive to Apple photos for my limited needs, and not needlessly pay the fee to Adobe, as I was just not using it. Then the very next video in my feed was this one, so it looks like I’m now going to be paying for the Adobe Photograhy pack and Apple’s larger storage plan. 😂 I’ve loved LR since version 1, but today it came out wearing a new dress. Another top vid Matt. 👍
That HDR feature is honestly pretty cool. Can finally view high res digital photos in ways never seen before. Since I have an LG HDR monitor and LG OLED it makes this very cool!
It's definitely cool. But I can't show the coolness to anyone because nothing will even record it. If I do a screen recording, once I click that button the photo looks horrible in the recording and nothing like my computer. Great if you have the screen... bad if you share your photos with anyone who doesn't (most of the world).
@@MattKloskowskigreat overall content, but HDR is more prevalent than you think. Iphone, Andoid, Chrome, etc will display if you have an HDR screen. Most modern laptops and monitors have some (maybe not full) HDR headroom.
All I know is when I record it with my screen recording software, the whole image goes to ugly (in the resulting screen recording) the moment I click that button.
Matt, do you know if the "Blur" analyzing is taking place in the CPU or Graphics card? I assume the graphics card but you never now. It's relatively fast compared to Denoise which I know takes place in the graphics card.
Hi Matt, great video! Could you please let me know if I can have l Lightroom Classic (Oct 2023 Update) on Windows 10 21H2 without any problems? According to Adobe's website, version 22H2 is required. I've actually installed it on 21H2, but I'm wondering if I'll have any problems with it. I have Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC, which cannot be upgraded to 22H2.
Any chance you can do one on the new lightroom mobile? I've used it for years and now I can no longer batch edit, can't find my photos easily... it just feels like the ruined the app :(
I need clarification on the sequence. If I do generative fill - they try to do some dodging and burning - they filled areas act differently. Is that because I didn't merge the layers?
I agree... It's not huge. But remember, we got some good masking updates during the year as well as DeNoise which immediately saves anyone who edits high ISO photos about $100 a year from buying other plug-ins. Those were mid-year updates which I'm thankful I didn't have to wait, but it does spoil a little bit of the Adobe Max week surprises.

Of course you’re correct. I shan’t be deserting the product but feel that time would have been better spent harmonising Lightroom and Photoshop rather than producing somewhat gimmicky additions to the product.
Definitely not. For people that care, it’s nowhere near coming to an end because we know a good photo can’t be made by a blur filter. For people that don’t care, those lenses were never even on the table for them to consider. This changes nothing for people that appreciate good photography.

None of these features require you to use them. Heck you can even hide the panels so they don’t show up anymore if you find the interface too cluttered.
@@MattKloskowski no I know, I just remember the day when Lightroom was in beta (I feel old) and how simple it was. Now there are so many options and things you can do, it does feel a little bit overwhelming not gonna lie!
@@valerievaleriem1769 I was going to mention this too but was worried I'd get hate haha. But I was going to say, more tools to make your photos look fake! It's a strange time for sure. It's been one of the reasons why I been using film a bit more.
Not quite sure a good marketing strategy for a photo editing software company would be “get it right in camera”. As a photographer I can’t stand the blur feature… as a shareholder in Adobe… bring it on!!!

Thanks. I just received the update yesterday. I haven’t had time to fully explore it yet but your synopsis simplifies things.

informative video on new features in ALR.
Thanks for the demo. Would be nice if Adobe would add in the lens blur a luminance slider that varies according to the depth mask you set.
Thank you Matt
Good stuff! Thank you Matt
Always awesome content 😊
Thanks for the great (as always) tutorial.
I truly enjoyed the video. You are always honest and forthright in your videos. God bless.

Thank you!!

You're welcome!
This is great. Now I is wish they would make the spot healing brush as good as it is in photoshop or add the new remove tool.

Marvelous, tried blur and first attempt it crashed and I was taken to an Adobe crash page!
If you have a monitor that can show the HDR effects and you make some adjustments with that, will that show up when you export and Print?
No, that's my experience anyway. I tried exporting as jpg and got a very flat image, nothing like what I created.
How can I use upper vrsion lightroom catalogue on a laptop or computer having a lower version LR. Kindly help

Hi. It’s not something I could answer. I would have to defer to Adobe on system specs. Thx
Curious what other people were expecting and missed out when others say “not much of an update,” just curious?

what camera and lens were this pictures taken with? seems like a Sony
Yes Sony. If you go to my website and click the Gear menu you can see what I use. Thanks

Yes. You'd need to do it first, or merge layers and do it after.
Where can I download this?????
You say Boka, I say coffee.
Wow that's it? Is that the only new thing in the latest LRC update?

The days of fast aperture lenses is coming to an end and it makes me sad 😢

Features like this are going to hurt large aperature lens sales IMO.
large aperture you mean...
