All well and good, but my transmission is in the truck. Not on the ground. So how about a video showing how to install this shifter with the tansmission in the vehicle? When I spoke to a rather condecending representative at American Shifter he told me it was possible to install the shifter while it was in the vehicle. He referred me to this video where the tranny is on the bench. Rather off putting experience. Thanks! American Shifter. I will be shopping elsewhere.

Half way through my install on a TH350, not happy at all. No instruction sheet supplied and the downloaded ones are bare bones at best. Both left and right side plate angles dont match the top plate when everything is tight. Same for the mount plates from the top plate to the shifter mechanism. The vid shows them nice and snug and straight against the shifter but mine sure aren't. I'm on a tight budget and though the lower price would benefit me. What WASTE of money. Maybe this would be an ok install kit for a seasoned pro, but a first time backyard guy (me) I'm having a hard time. Shoulda went with a Lokar. Its called American Shifter, yet all the parts bags are labeled made in China.

It would be nice to add a few shots of the side install. The short all-threads with the jam nuts apparently just float in the transmission holes. The instructions that do not come with the shifter (they have to be downloaded from their website, which are not very complete at all) do not mention this or much else. If you have a converter for a 4x4 you will probably have to create your own mounting brackets.

I'm here for the same reason. At 00:25 its like they intentionally install the side bracket as quick as possible so you dont see the "hollow boss" install (thats what Lokar calls it). That hollow boss is included in the kit, but it doesnt fit in the hole. The downloadable instructions are terrible. Since this is just a blatant Lokar copy, I recommend the very nice Lokar instructions.

Ok I seen all the bad input on this shifter. Does anyone have any positive feed back? I like the way it gives 8 mounting positions for the shifter. Since this will be going on a th350 but in a high mount looks like I may be able to use the existing boot hole.

that janky plastic shift knob is supposed to stay on the arm with those loose threads?? and the jam nut is upside down... ugh. still looking i guess.

The technician uses the adjustable wrench backward. "Allthread rod" for linkage???Sophomoric at best...

Even Lokar uses all thread. That and the rod ends are the best part of this kit.

I'm sorry but the linkage looks pretty damn flimsy! Hell the whole setup looks fuckin flimsy! I would be scared that if I speed shifted that the damn thing would break-off in my damn hand! Now I am starting to understand why Hurst kits are so expensive!

How is this not a patent infringement on Lokar? This looks like a China made cheapo knock off that looks flimsy and not well made. I'd pass. You get what you pay for.
