As a Christian, the details about how the half-shekel temple tax was paid at various points in time is so interesting because of the story about Jesus paying the temple tax in Matthew 24-27. I understand him not mentioning that directly but the Christian Gospels give precious details about 1st c Judaism and sometimes testifying to some of the same information in ancient Jewish texts.
