Eh, I think alot of the characters in mid and legendary are garbage tbh. Especially Sokaku, Franco Bash, Axel Hawk Jubei. If there is one character I’m hoping to see again it’s Rick Strowd.

Fatal Fury's original Japanese game is Garou Densetsu, which literally translates as Legend of the Wolves.
The wolves in question were Terry and Andy. For some odd reason, only Terry kept the nickname of legendary wolf.

With the new game on the horizon, I've been hoping SNK can release a Fatal Fury Fighting Collection, similar to what Capcom has been doing. I'd love the whole series in a single collection!

Hotaru is one of my favorites, she is really fun to play as and also has that certain essence of the era I feel like she has more going for her in her non-Garou appearances, though, and I think her color balance can be a bit too blue sometimes (she looks better with pink and/or purple)
Of course Rock is the best, though now that I think of it Rock and Kain both also had that essence of the era.
Also Lily is probably not getting rated in any of these lists any time soon but it's still amusing how she's only playable in MI.
I like the cycle of Violence Dynamic of Terry and Andy being adopted by Jeff Bogard and Geese killing him.
Then Geese adopts Billy, Terry kills Geese and now Billy wants revenge.
I did like in KOF XIII when they put Raiden and Hwa Jai in Kim's team as substitutes for Chang and Choi respectively, partially because it feels like a thing Kim would try to do in Fatal Fury if he could, and mostly because I like whenever SNK decides to dip back into their vaults to bring back characters they tend to forget about otherwise (even if Hwa Jai was just recycled Joe Higashi spritework). But otherwise yeah Hwa Jai didn't really have much going on besides that.
Now if only SNK would dig some long forgotten Art of Fighting characters out of the vault for future KOF games...
They actually joke about this. If you put Hwa Jai against Human Saiki they both mock each other for being cheap headswaps.

I once read that SNK considered adding Jack Turner and John Crawley from the original Art of Fighting to King of Fighters XIV, but they felt they were too obscure and that's the problem with AoF characters, save for Ryo, Robert, King, Yuri, Takuma and maybe Kasumi Todoh, Mr. Big and Eiji Kisaragi, the game's roster isn't that memorable
I kinda prefer the Wild Ambition old man over the others because he just looks like a mean crank at the end of a rough life.
Kim is an interesting one. I would snap reaction, knee jerk slam him him into a high tier... but then I thought about it and the reason I like Kim so much is almost entirely King of Fighters based and not Fatal Fury.
How do you reconcile that? Does that hurt him? Does it not matter?
Kim without his extended cast of characters or his sons is so just infinitely less interesting. But the complete Kim package is an icon.
Also its pretty wild that there are eight, EIGHT(!!), Kim Kaphwan spin off characters that never appeared in a mainline Fatal Fury. Six if you want to say Garou counts, which is still nuts. That's like having eight Street Fighter characters who are entirely defined by their relationship to E. Honda and nothing else. That's crazy. But also part of Kim's charm.
I'd say Garou count. In Japanese, Fatal Fury was called Garou Densetsu, Mark of the wolves is indeed part of the same serie.
@@emperormegaman3856 Yeah, it is... I suppose I still have a weird bias where I think of Garou as a sequel series to regular Fatal Fury. But then again I'd never say a SF3 character or an Alpha character didn't count as a core Street Fighter so it's a non-distinction.
Besides the kids show up, albeit unplayable, in older Fatal Fury games regardless so it's a moot point.
Still though I think it's wild that only three of nine Kim-team characters are from Fatal Fury. That's enough fighters to fill an entire 90s sized roster 😂

Billy Kane would be really cool if portrayed as an enemy to Terry since their foster homes/orphan days, after Geese killed Jeff Bogard. If they made him jealous of Terry because he always were cooler than Billy in every conceivable way, but got adopted by Geese in his late teens, not as a son, but as a hired gun!
That would improve Billy Kane's character.
Billy should also interact with Rock seeing how both are connected to Geese
I love Mai from the bottom of my heart. Having her come to SF is a dream come true for me because I’m better at the SF format, but Mai was always my FF/KoF main since 92.

This tier list is pretty much perfection.
Only changes I would make are Xiangfei as Legendary (call it bias but she's one of my favorite characters in the series) and Sokaku as Hungry (his moves are really flashy and unique and he's got a great design).

I agree with so much of this list. Terry, Mai and Geese are so good, they crossed over to different franchises outside of SNK, and Rock should be next in line.

When it comes to female character designs, I always had a weakness towards midriff baring blondes. So Blue Mary's high tier placement is ideal, kudos for that. Also liked Cammy's SF6 redesign ofc, despite the short hair.
My mid riff tier list in SF6 goes:
Cammy's default outfit
Chun's outfit 3
Kim's outfit 2
Manon's outfit 2
Marisa's default outfit
Juri's default outfit. Sorry girl, you need to work on those abs.
A.K.I, who gets negative points for being the only SF6 female without a mid riff outfit.
Glad to see Yamazaki in Legendary but honestly i see him even above just how badass yet decently written he is
Hes gone mad as a result of witnessing his father figure die in the most cruel ways which...lines up i guess with how the Yakuza handle thing, hes always been a character that alternates between a cold calculating individual and a maniacal person which also reflects in his brutal gameplay
But the cherry on top for me is how he has the Riot Of Blood from Orochi, the same thing that BOTH Iori and Leona inherited (which are both strong and cool characters in their own respect), but unlike those two SNK made him being the ONLY ONE WHO DOESNT GET AFFECTED BY IT because he's so gone off the deep end, is really wild and worthy of praise for how much liberty they allowed a non KOF central character in the lore, and really makes you think once again what amount of horror this guy witnessed to withstand something like that
I admit Raiden gets cool points from me over Big Bear based entirely on how he was introduced. The Fatal Fury attract mode and the LARGE sprites helped sell that game, and here's this giant masked dude beating the crap out of you. And then you actually fight him in the game and he's cheap as hell unless you cheese him.
He left a giant impression, pun intended.
I agree with Geese Howard being the best fighting game villain ever, there is a very simple alternate timeline orientalist martial arts B movie vibe to Fatal Fury 1 that kinda got lost along the way . Even if that got us more crazy an memorable characters later in other games like Krauser and KOF ones. Its a simple revenge story, and the music and climax with geese is perfect.
So just to let people know, we believe Kevin is indeed confirmed for city of the wolves

After all these years, I can't believe I never knew that was his catchphrase. I always assumed it was Cody's catchphrase from Final Fight/Street Fighter. That's what I get for trying to speedrun the true ending for Mark of the Wolves using every single character.
Never played a Fatal Fury/KOF game, but I’m excited to get into it after the SF6 reveal and this new game! Perfect timing for me to get up to date on all these characters
Oh mate you should, if you're PC download fightcade or get your hands on a few of the better games; I always prefered KOF to SF and its so much fun.

Yamazaki is peak to me, just for the fact this man have Orochi blood pumping on him and yet he shows full capability of controlling himself makes him a menace! Would love to see him have a bigger role, get a treatment where he turns into a villain like Bane with double S: Smart and Strong.
Another reason for why Terry is in godwolf tier(impo)is that he has a frickin pet monkey which I just learned about recently and that he’s never shown up in later games?
Like come on SNK give me merch of this monkey I will happily pay all my hard earned cash on him
when it comes to the GOOSE, i would really want him to appear on City of the wolves, but as a Nightmare Geese Dlc
and have it that he is a reacurring nightmare on Terry's mind after the incident where he took his life, but have it that Terry finally moves on from that
either that or make him be the reason why Terry is so skeptical of Rock's new adventure of learning more about his lineage
I remembered when KOF: Destiny suddenly updated Jeff Bogard's design from a dude wearing kung fu clothing to kung fu trucker, I was admittedly a little stoked to see the Bogard Bros adopted father finally be playable in the near future. Jeff apparently knew some of the masters like Takuma Sakazaki and Terry claims Jeff was someone he could never truly surpassed (Geese killing Jeff when the latter was weakened depending on the adaptation).
...And my disappointment rises realizing SNK will probably never pull that trigger.
A Bloody Roar character tier list would be cool.

I really like this tier list you did. i can really agree with it especially rock in God wolf but I cracked up when you said max will quote on quote "kill" you if you didn't put rock in God tier but tbf Rock does have the moveset personality story anc overall nature that makes him a God tier and i like he's getting character development in city of the wolves i just hope the SNK team will give him the character development he deserves and as for hotaru i can definitely agree with you with her cuz at first i honestly didn't seem interested in her until i played and learn a bit about her from her story from the snk wiki and her moveset personality and overall nature is what makes me love about her my only issue with hotaru is that i hate she gets treated like an underrated forgotten character every time she gets brushed off by her brother gato 3 TIMES and i'm sick of it i don't want that as her narrative story plot. I like it when she slapped him in her ending rather than doing nothing and honestly i'm REALLY hoping the SNK team give hotaru the proper character development treatment she deserves rather than being brushed off by her brother a lot like making her more serious and determined. Also another and the MAIN REASON why i love her is because instead of just her going after her brother i found a kof fandom website in espanol that mentions hotaru is in love with rock meaning she may have feelings for him probably because of how he offered his help to her look for her brother gato and was in her likes for helping her but the two never really interact a lot despite seeing each other which is honestly why i hope in my perspective the team will work on hotaru and rock interactions more and longer forming a cute and healthy relationship to eventually falling in love with each other and becoming a couple. Heck you even have a church background which can be used for weddings when you got to talking about hotaru. I can imagine her marrying rock one day lol XD
Before my brother passed away he modeled his style off Yamazaki, down to a T. And he was a bodybuilder so he was able to pull it off lol. Objectively I would've accepted Hungry Wolf as well, mainly cuz his fighting style is weird, but I won't complain with Legendary.

Pretty accurate list! The Real Bout characters feel pretty underrated, I hope they'll return in City of the Wolves too
Plus Blue Mary has her own music video in Real Bout on Neo CD, that takes her to legendary for me, i'm not aware of any other character that had that.
I just wish Andy got as much recognition as his brother did. He deserves a chance at the spotlight.

Real talk I want Andy to be the new bad guy. Think say they find out Geese is their dad(hair color, knack for martial arts, Geese always took them serious above any other characters, build , Andys fire is the same color as Geese, they never look anything like Jeff Bogard) and without a figure head like him south town would plunge into chaos by his and many others opinion not to mention of the Bogard brothers Andy would take it the hardest being Geese son and maybe delusional on who was the real good guy / bad guys in years past. Hell we already got Dark Andy as a EX it writes itself. You could even progress Mai as a character in turn making her his Kunochi assassin or even have them settle but not any thing like she fore saw or wanted.
I agree with most of the rankings, the 4 godwolf in particular. but I do like cheng chinzen or whatever his name is, I find funny and well animated on real bout 2 he looks kinda cool would put him higher

Apparently SNK should make more female characters since all of them are in upper half.^^
I think SNK should make a "The Queen of Fighters" game, I know they made things like SNK Gal's Fighters and SNK Hereoines Tag Team Frenzy, but I want something that would be more in line with KOF, with characters like Goddess Athena, Eri & Fio from Metal Slug, Akari, Yuki, Kaori and Hibiki from Last Blade, Shiki and Iroha from Samurai Shodown, etc.

For me my top 3 God Wolf picks are Kim Kaphwan, Blue Mary, and Ryuji Yamazaki. All 3 have my favourite gameplay and designs across the Fatal Fury series. Doesn't hurt either their persoanlities are fun especially with Kim's insatiable desire for justice & Ryuji's insanity. Hope they all return (or at least for Kim we get Kim Jae Hoon) for City of the Wolves.
As fo my favourite game in the franchise so far itts Real Bout 2 but I have high hopes CotW to surpass it potentially.

Disagree with several of the Legendary placements, that category should be semi-exclusive. Personally I would put all of the Kims (father and sons), Jenny and Grant on Hungry. I mean, I love the Kims and Jenny, but they're just a tad not legendary yet. Also Rock I would put in Legendary; only actual God Wolves are Terry, Mai and Geese. Rest I pretty much agree.

I'd have allowed Alice in through the side door if only because Fatal Fury already has perhaps the highest male to female ratio in fighting games. Like even Art of Fighting would match Fatal Fury in total women if not for the forgotten character pulled from Wild Ambition. It's kind of a weird oddity that nobody notices, because Fatal Fury is not an especially macho franchise. And maybe because Mai and Jenet are so extra that they almost count double.
Totally agree with Terry and Mai being God Wolf tier, the pair of them and Iori are my KOF mains.
First 3 guys are fairly accurate. It's true Terry is bit more over but Andy and Joe aren't that bad. If they get something special then it can elevate them.
