Excellent series, both from the german and japanese perspectives. Gives insight into what these men endured on a personal level, as opposed to just broad historical fact. U- boat service was unbelievably brutal and the horrific conditions made it even worse.

A chap I used to know was in the Royal Navy during WWII. He said that when a submarine came alongside and
they opened their hatches, the stink was incredible.

This narration should be in a book. It's so well written and moving.

I’m under the impression that this is an AI / robot “reading” the actual book - a memoir. Many comments on other memoirs similarly “read” indicate that this is true.

The merchant marines - unsung and uncompensated heroes.

At 37 years old I can say these randomly put together memoirs have left me knowing much more about the key battles and pressure points in the German and Japanese Armies and front lines, and cities. It really gives you a first hand account most scholars will overlook.
The battle for Karlhiv (spelling?) for instance. That seemed to be more important in clearing out the German lines than almost anywhere else and you rarely hear about it in long series. The notion that US and British infantry won the war is also a joke. Russia had already won basically by the time Normandy had happened. It shortened the war only.
Sad that the NATO led west are now ran by FABIEN CLUB International Socialists. Just like WW2, the primary future enemy is communism (China and its allies).
