For a family of 4 in 1989, this game was probably around $30 including concessions. You get baseball, Crackerjacks, hotdogs, some soft drinks, and free wrestling! Talk about fun for the whole family at an economical price!

What's CRAZY about this whole thing was it "started" at home plate, then went up the third base line. Then gravitates to the pitchers mound area, then back toward third base. Just when you think it's over...BOOM...back to the pitchers mound, up into right field, then to the bullpen area and then back into right field...This was EPIC!!!

This one ranks right up there with the old Mariners-Orioles brawl from around the same time period at Camden. Seems like the Mariners were always involved in the most entertaining brawls in baseball. Like the other one I mentioned, this one had multiple different scuffles break out on multiple occasions.... just when it looked like things were settling down 😂 It was like everyone was calming down, and then suddenly you see bodies start flying again and more punches being thrown and it gets wild all over again like the brawl isn’t going to end 😂

Derek Foster I am from Southern California but we were visiting in Seattle in 1983 and saw a game between the Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays. They just happened to be the team in town when we were there. Being used to Dodger Stadium and the L A Dodgers, I thought it was unique that we basically could walk up to the ticket window and buy three good seats for that nights game. You're right, there was about 6000 in attendance that night.
The M's did win, it was a Gaylord Perry game. But the comment I most remember is my mother saying about the Kingdome "it has all the ambience of a parking garage." I agree! I have never been to Safeco Field, hoping to get there soon. But, from what I've heard it is a really nice place to play baseball and to be there as a fan.

Good old 45, Rob Deer. The Mariners were probably lucky he was a gentle deer and peacemaker that day. That guy would either strike out or hit a home run and was my favorite player growing up

Favorite? I hated that guy when he was on the Tigers in the early 90's. I was 10-12 age. He mostly struck out but had an occasional home run. He pissed me off more than anyone. He was #44 when he came to Detroit. Cecil Fielder had #45.

I grew up an Angels fan and I loved it when the Tigers came to town. I would marvel at Rob Deer's freakish stats (for example) in 1991; 25 homers, only 64 RBIs, 175 (!) strikeouts and a .179 BA! That's some crazy stuff right there.
