    Since the cam shaft consists of symmetrical sections you can model one and then pattern linear, rotate each section in the desired angle around the center-line, lastly add relations,...of course the ends has to be modeled alone....!!

      Nazar Ramsey yes.

      Not all camshafts are symmetrical, IE the lift on ex and int aren't the same.

    could make a video on mechanical mates in solidworks assembly

    Hi, may I know where did you get the dimensions? If you have a source

    Hi I have a quick question.
    If I'm designing a camshaft for a 2 cylinder 4-stroke diesel engine, how many cam lobes should I design? Up to 4?

      +Veivien Yam Depends on your number of valves/ final cam drive design, i.e. cam lobes direct to the followers or rockers to control one set of valves etc.
      If you want to design a traditional concept without rockers and push-rods, you'll want one lobe per valve. However, it's not as simple to just position a set of cam lobes on a rod or two for inlet and exhaust, there's so much more work needed to justify your design such as when to start lift, height of lift., lift duration etc etc so your quick question doesn't really have a quick answer.
      Two good books to get you on your way;
      Motor Vehicle Science for Technicians by S. J. Zammit (good entry level), and;
      Internal Combustion Engine Fundamentals by John. B. Heywood (probably the book of all books that even other books use, can be pricey).
      Hope this helps.

    How many degrees each cam rotates over it's own axel?

    can you make the solidworks design of four valve two cylinder valve train engine?
