She crushed this song…what a talent. She gave the world goosebumps then dropped the mic, left the stage and left the world jaw open.. Perfect move. Screw the big lights girl…you have nothing more to prove! I hope she realized how much joy her voice brought to so many people .
This song totally kills me, everytime, I'm a Swede living abroad for over 20 years, and this one hits just about every string in me! ❤ Though next year it's ESC in my hometown, and I'll for sure be there, nothing could keep me away!!
You might like to know that Molly was poised for an international career at one point, and was even based in LA for a while. Unfortunately the label and/or management was very focused on her losing weight, so she ultimately lost interest and moved back home to Sweden. I suspect she draws from that experience when singing this song. It's also probably the reason this didn't lead to much else - the American music industry probably views her as "difficult", as the music industry tends to do when they don't get their exact way.
Thank you so much for this information. I so totally agree. I think that it was a blessing in disguise for Molly that The Musical Industry in LA, this satanistic industry, and she did not get along. They did not succeed to destroy her. And she move home to Sweden again.
So much sounds like the story of Saara Aalto in the UK. We need to stop this ridiculous non-script American dominance of our music cultures. Europe has the foundation for our own music. We have so many traditions.
Great insight and a positive argument against corporate intrusion into the arts. Respectfully, the commenter indicting the "American dominance" (while not without fault) is not completely forthright. The British music manufacturing industry dates back to the Beatles through today (from the Sex Pistols to the Spice Girls). Eurovision, which plays into this song as well as several other great bands, contributes to the corporatism of music (and yes, this includes the monstrosity that is "Idols" and "Got Talent" machines).
@@mememooree Thanks. Yes, I feel I should point out that I never meant to single out the LA ”chapter” of the music industry, (or the American industry as a whole), although it may well rank among the worst. (The bigger the money, of course the worse it gets). And not because it doesn’t deserve it, but because they ALL deserve it. The music industry has always been a hellscape for artists everywhere, all over the world. And artists have been systematically screwed since day one, back when labels brought in unwitting travelling musicians from the street and paid them a minimal one-time fee for a recorded performance. Some have successfully fought back, but not without gaining a reputation of being ”difficult”, or even crazy, (see Prince for example). But they are few and far between. And now that no one pays for music anymore, it’s worse than ever. It’s hard to recommend a career in music to anyone these days, sadly. (Not unless you’re already established and have some serious clout). For someone like Molly, who by the way is a beautiful and charismatic, wildly talented young woman with no weight issues whatsoever, there is no doubt in my mind the best course of action was to regroup back home. She is talented enough that the ”mountain will come to Mohammed”. Which is exactly what happened in this instance. Meanwhile she’s enjoying a prosperous career in her native Sweden, (and Scandinavia at large). Bottom line: Mental health is a serious issue in the industry, (as evidenced by the disproportional number of early deaths, and the wide acceptance of self-medication), and you need to take care of yourself - no one else will.
Molly is fantastic. I really love her live performance for the Oscar gala (the song was nominated, but didn't win) recorded from Husavik, Iceland (due to covid). Thanks from Sweden ❤
That performance (recorded the night before the awards) is my absolute favorite as well. In that production I think it's only Molly that isn't a local resident. All musicians are local, and you have the local school choir (though some of the kids had to borrow a "lopapeysa" from a relative or friend, since they didn't have one of their own). You have the typical Icelandic weather (cold, rain and windy) and the other contents of the lyrics: Húsavík itself. Skjalvanda, the water off Húsavík. When the camera zooms out at the end you can also see the northern light in the sky. In the recording used for the movie Molly's pronunciation in the Icelandic parts of the lyrics isn't nearly as good as in the Húsavík performance.
Truly appreciate your comparison note to 'Never Enough'. Both songs resonate a goosebumply emotion with similar yet distinct passion; but the similarity is remarkable in all the best ways. Thanks for all you do!
Husavik is a wonderful little town in The north of Island. As a flyfisher i'v been there twise. Husavik is also known for the whalesafaries. As a swede i'm proud of Molly. She has an amazing voice. Thank you for a great reaction. By the way the movie was fun to watch.👍
I never heard this singer before, but she is amazing. I have been following you for awhile now and you always leave me feeling great. I just realized how much emotion you put into your reactions with your hands, it’s beautiful. Thanks 😊
Yep right there with ya. Love the fullness and bass in her low and even the bass in her mix not to mention the clarity in her text right throughout. Beautiful voice. Another nice reaction. Thanx.
such a beautiful voice i have seen this before and loved this version so much. thanks for taking us through it and i really enjoyed your reaction to it.
Shiver me Timbers! - every time I hear it, from my feet to my head. Your analysis is fascinating as usual, and makes me wish I had a voice that would benefit from your expertise. Plus, also love the movie.
Husavik! I listened to it driving through Husavik a couple of years ago and for the first time payed attention to the line "Where the mountains sing." The thing is that the night before I and my wife - then fiancé - had the privilege of actually hearing a mountain sing to us. Three long notes that changed in a harmonic way, over and over again. The wind can´t do that.
I think I’ve watched this about 20 times since Bethany reacted to it. The whole video was stunning; her voice, her presentation and the vibes she sent out were fantastic. Sad to hear they (producers), didn’t give her the opportunity to show her chops internationally. She certainly has everything to be a very successful artist. If you haven’t watched the movie Bethany suggested, I recommend it.
@The Vocalist You should listen to Helen Sjöholm, an amazing swedish singer. Gabriella's sång, from the mocie As it is in heaven. And also Peter Jöback singing Guldet blev till sand.
Her performance in Husavik for the Oscar nomination was stellar, complete with the Northern Lights overhead and a childrens choir. You should watch it. I was so disappointed that it didn't win.
It is just a fantastic song. I have seen your reactions on several scandinavian singers (aurora, angelina etc) and love your honest admiration towards this beautifull nordic sound. I would love to see you react to the swedish band dirty loops "breakdown". I think7know you will love this and looking forward to see your face lit up in awe. (maybe...).
I visited Husavik on my honeymoon in 1992. Met the local bookstore owner, who showed me the amazing trompe l'oeil church. Had a surprisingly good pizza, at a time when you could count all of the restaurants in the country on fingers and toes. And, like everywhere in Iceland, met only wonderful friendly interesting people.
I would love to see your reaction to Chris Kläffords cover of Billy Eilish Ocean Eyes or his cover of Chris Stapeltons Tennessee Whiskey… or basically anything from Chris Kläfford since his amazing vocal skills and range are flaunted in pretty much anything he does.
I got nothing. It’s amazing how differently songs affect on different people. Latest song that got goosepumps and tears all over me was that Journey live version of Send her my love. You can find it in TH-cam. Absolutely amazing! I really love early 80s Steve Perry voice ❤❤ So beautiful
My goodness. First listen, what a fine tone that only a woman can create. gorgeous. Amazing way slight changes blend into song with her voice. Naki(Kiwi) 8:45
Thank you for a fantastic video. I love this performance so much. Could I dare to recommend another song with Molly. Molly Sandén performs Don't Wanna Miss A Thing at the Polar Music Prize Ceremony 2022, with Diane Warren herself in the audience.
Lovely singing and reaction. Huseby is an Old Norse expression for the settlement of the local chief/Lord. Around 250 farms/places have that name in South Norwsy and South Sweden. Later the word "hus" was used for arm castles in Scandinavia. Vik is a Scandinavian word for a bay and in Old Norse also a name for a fiord. Hus(a)vik is a name for the place where the local chief had his ships.
For me this song is the unofficial winner of the 2020 song contest which was canceled for reasons we all know... it gets 12 points from me! This the song makes me proud to be from Island, but i am I'm Austrian...
Thanks for introducing us to new artists we may never have listened to❤! Would love to see you react to Jess Glynnes' I'll be there for you! Her voice is so unique. It would be great to hear your take on it.
Thank you very much for your video, excellent analysis, I love that song and for a while I was obsessed with it. Greetings from Peru, I recommend you react to some Latin singers, I leave you some songs in case you want to listen to them: Mon Laferte - Tu Falta De Querer, Vicentico - Solo un momento, Natalia Lafourcade - Hasta la Raiz, Susana Baca - Maria Lando =)
Thanks for the reaction.❤ Molly Sandén is one of Swedens🇸🇪 best female singer. She has done a lot of good work and I recommend you to watch and listen to that. She singing about Husavik in Iceland🇮🇸, but this video is from Öland in Sweden🇸🇪. Hugs 🤗
Im so glad to see someone else recognizes the enormous impact this song has. My experience with the movie Eurovision was much the same as yours. I think the reason the song is so important and should have gotten more attention than it did is because its a song for the world about the great admiration and love so many have for the small towns and the people who live their they have as family and friends and al it means to them. It captures the emotion of the desire to leave that small town and spread your wings, and what a great many discover that they are leaving what they really love behind, and thats a mistake, a mistake they decide they do not want to make. Life isnt always easy in small towns. The smaller friendlier communities have both their advantages and disadvantages, but in the end, when YOUR people are all there, its so so difficult to justify leaving that for the hope of anything that could ever be better. Growing old with those you love around you is priceless. TO live an entire life that way is beyond priceless for many. Its a life no money or fame can replace for those who feel that way. This song literally lays bare the emotions of someone who has felt the tug and seen the reasons of why they should move from their home town, but knows the value of the reality of staying there simply is irreplicable to them by default. For someone who hanst had that 'hometown" experience, the sheer depth of all this is never going to be realized to the true extent of what it means to those who have. And as I said, small hometown life isnt always easy, and for some the better choice will be to leave. But as this song shows, for countless millions around the world, their hometown and the people in it becomes a huge part of who they are and how they feel about everything they know of. Leaving it behind is often a dream so many determine can never provide a life they will ever cherish as much as living out a life with all the people they were young with, and are now a part of who they are to their core. And because small towns exist around the world, its a song for the world. We are not so different.
I’d brand this performance as perfect. For all intentions and purposes. Would going all out Whitney agree with the song? Sure. Would going all out Christina Aguilera work? Yes. I’d argue, though, that this version of the song is not lacking anything and that it is, for lack of a better word, perfect. Stellar, stellar performance by both Molly and the pianist. Stunning.
Wow such a beautifully haunting voice and song....also love the video....Your reactions and articulations of the vocals is also great...you may want to check out this year's AGT 2023 there are some insane singing talents with impressive vocals, there is the teen from Indonesia Putri Ariani, the fisherman guy Ronald Albante from Phillipines and sultry sexy voice of Cakra Khan....love to see your reactions...😃😃😃
Thanks for reviewing this, I wondered if anyone would. It is so beautiful. The Fire Saga movie is one I watch when I need a lift, movie was totally up my alley in terms of sentiment and cinematography. I liked the music and musical sequences a lot. I feel/felt like you did, goose bumps, after the movie and after this version of Husavik. I wonder if Molly is just well known and appreciated in Europe... and doesn't get much play in North America. I fully expected to hear a lot more of her work after that movie but one does have to seek it out. Are you familiar with John Grant? Not connected to Molly that I know of but I bring him up because he is an American singer/songwriter who is far better known and appreciated in Europe. I am a huge fan of his, his voice and fiery emotional expression... I could go on a lot. Anyway, if you haven't heard him, there are many TH-cam videos, some of my favorites are from a performance he did with Allan Toussaint, or a full concert at Ancienne Belgique, if you want to have a look.
She seems to sing exactly on the lower edge of what she´s capable of. Which I, maybe because I´m a man, feel is very touching. I had the opportunity to sit fairly close to the great American / and a little Swedish too / opera singer / soprano / Barbara Hendricks on a outdoor concert many years ago, and when she used her lower register, low in her chest... something broke in me. It´s as if they deliberately give up their strength, they open up for their vulnerability. I love it! Also the limited amount of wailing that Molly Sandén uses in this performance is classy. It´s far too often overused I believe.
There is a billion good songs out there but there are only a few that fall into the category of "Ahhhh". Like ABBA, those girls had some incredible voices, simply incredible and back then you did not have all the voice chutaloohoo's you have today. Some singers are just way, way above others.
While we're on a little trip to Iceland, I am reminded that I don't think you've reacted to Sigur Ros. They have a new album out, but I think given your tastes I would recommend their live in studio performance of Ara Batur at Abbey Road with a small orchestra. It's absolutely mesmerizing, and one of the best uses of orchestra in pop music I've seen. Jonsi has a wonderful and highly distinctive voice. th-cam.com/video/vUK_ou_mTQE/w-d-xo.html
Well, If they had rolled it as a Eurovison-song for real, this song had won 100%. Check out what the actual songs was on that Eurovison :) This song had won :)
Vocalist, Did you know that Angelina Jordan has released a song off her upcoming album called Love Don't Let Me Go. The EP will be called Old Enough. It is Amazing. It will take you back to the 60s or 70s. You will really like this, I guarantee that.
Ever listened to Dolores O'Riordan? Would be interested in your thoughts. "21" is a good range piece from early. "Zombie" most known. "Linger" ""Dreams'
Thanks for a great reaction. I prefer the live performance from the Oscar’s ceremony though. It’s just more authentic somehow. Fun fact: Molly voices the Swedish version of Rapunzel in Tangled and her sister, Mimmi, voices Anna in Frozen.
I could picture a literal choir or host of Angels singing this in harmony, together as one. No sarcasm. This song does not sound like it was written or created on this earth. This song was not for humans to sing. That is what makes it even more goosebumps inducing, because she killed it. 11/10.
Please react to latin music, from vintage artists from Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, Mercedes Sosa, to contemporary like Mon Laferte, Abel Pintos, Carlos Rivera, theres so good music, songs, so richness, textures, dynamics...❤
would love to see a follow up where you compare the movie version to this version, especially where they add movie effects or, I think, rachel mcadams. (and will farrell, who's not a bad singer but totally disrespects this song by participating.
I don't know any vocal teachers who speak about the voice without trying to sing what they mean in the way you do. Its kind of impressive that youre trying to talk instead of sing your explanations lol
You should react to her performance at the Oscars 2021😱😍 She performed IN HUSAVIK with an Icelandic children’s choir! th-cam.com/video/UamELF1MyN0/w-d-xo.html
It's not even mild, it cuts through really hard and I don't know why, because Molly has an absolutely amazing voice! Though I read somewhere that she was extremely hungover when she recorded it so maybe her voice wasn't up to par and they used auto-tuner to pitch it perfectly. Sadly they overdid it like many of todays producers do. Auto-tuner is a wonderful tool if you use it gently but easily turns into something horrible and static when overdone.
You should listen to this from a harbor in Island when she even has the child choir singing. It's the original and much better than this! Search, Molly Sanden - Husavik (Live at Oscars)
Patriotism runs Deep in America. If excellence appears in other parts of the world it challenges the belief in US as the greatest nation (all areas) on planet earth. That is why Molly Sandén is not more famous ”over there”. American music industry tried to import (buy) her and transform her. She declined in the end, Thank God!
As a Swede of course I am happy that you love this :) She is a wonderful singer! Thanks for reacting to this one!!!
She crushed this song…what a talent. She gave the world goosebumps then dropped the mic, left the stage and left the world jaw open.. Perfect move. Screw the big lights girl…you have nothing more to prove!
I hope she realized how much joy her voice brought to so many people .
Sweden #1 ☝🏽
This song totally kills me, everytime, I'm a Swede living abroad for over 20 years, and this one hits just about every string in me! ❤ Though next year it's ESC in my hometown, and I'll for sure be there, nothing could keep me away!!
So was she singing Swedish or Icelandic? You guys have an amazing talent there!

It was her contacts in LA that, more or less by chance, gave her this "gig".
Great insight and a positive argument against corporate intrusion into the arts. Respectfully, the commenter indicting the "American dominance" (while not without fault) is not completely forthright. Watch eurovision, you won't be disappointed in the soundtrack

she is crazy good...how this woman is not recognized world wide
She is just to a small crowd in comparison to others that are more commercial, coming from Houston Texas, USA
Husavik is a wonderful little town in The north of Island. As a flyfisher i'v been there twise. Husavik is also known for the whalesafaries. As a swede i'm proud of Molly. She has an amazing voice. Thank you for a great reaction. By the way the movie was fun to watch.👍
My home town :-) I was born there and live there until i was 33 years old
This is so beautiful. I hope that Molly Sandén will get together with these songwriters and write a song for her for Melodifestivalen 2024.
I never heard this singer before, but she is amazing. I have been following you for awhile now and you always leave me feeling great. I just realized how much emotion you put into your reactions with your hands, it’s beautiful. Thanks 😊
I love her voice and what she does with it ❤️ Heja Sverige! 🇸🇪

Yep right there with ya. Love the fullness and bass in her low and even the bass in her mix not to mention the clarity in her text right throughout. Beautiful voice. Another nice reaction. Thanx.
Another great song and acoustic performance from Molly Sandén is her song Rosa Himmel on the TV4 Late Night Concert.
It is a crime that it didn't win the Oscar. Such a beautiful song.
The instrument arrangement is also really good. Many details that many don't know about but that lifts the track to new heights.
such a beautiful voice i have seen this before and loved this version so much. thanks for taking us through it and i really enjoyed your reaction to it.
I've watched Eurovision 3 times. I LOVE it. So weird, funny, and amazing music.
Shiver me Timbers! - every time I hear it, from my feet to my head. Your analysis is fascinating as usual, and makes me wish I had a voice that would benefit from your expertise. Plus, also love the movie.
Everyone has that romantic notion of their hometown in the back of their mind. Especially the further you are from it.

@The Vocalist You should listen to Helen Sjöholm, an amazing swedish singer. Gabriella's sång, from the mocie As it is in heaven.

the sweetest reaction to this song. It's true, Molly Sanden creates literal magic in this song :_)
I thought I recognized something with her voice and you mentioned Never Enough and the light bulb popped up over my head. She is great.
It's a beautiful song so thanks for you're reaction!
I visited Husavik on my honeymoon in 1992. Met the local bookstore owner, who showed me the amazing trompe l'oeil church. More swedish female vocalists are: LOREEN. FIRST AID KIT (Polar Music Prize). Helene Sjöholm and many other...
She has with her voice brocken some mikes 😂🎉
I don't know what it is whit this song, I start to cry everytime I hear it! 😅
thanks
Completely off-topic, but I absolutely LOVE your curls! ❤❤❤
Thanks for the reaction.❤ Molly Sandén is one of Swedens🇸🇪 best female singer. She has done a lot of good work and I recommend you to watch and listen to that.

The Speorg Note!
Hey, I loved your videos of Disturbed and Tool. If you want to hear more metal with great vocals I also recommend Chevelle. Try "Comfortable Liar."
I love Chevelle. One of my favourite bands. I saw them Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace live when I lived in the US. Such a treat.
If Molly goes full power.,.... Atombomb.
you´re beautiful you your self....
Have you looked into Voice Play, specifically Seven Nation Army cover?
Her last name is Sandén not santian😉
Please cek american got talent, putri ariani ❤❤❤❤
Pleaaassseee do Dallas green from city and colour
React Putri ariani -America's Got talent please
I don't know any vocal teachers who speak about the voice without trying to sing what they mean in the way you do. Its kind of impressive that youre trying to talk instead of sing your explanations lol
Have you done Chris Cornell from Soundgarden or Layne Staley from Alice In Chains? Both fabulous in my opinion. Love your videos.
Nutshell unplugged Layne is on point. Cornell Sirusxm cover of Prince Nothing Compares to You.
You should react to her performance at the Oscars 2021😱😍 She performed IN HUSAVIK with an Icelandic children’s choir!
th-cam.com/video/UamELF1MyN0/w-d-xo.html
Heard Tommy Johansson?
imagine a duett with Molly and Loreen :O
Singing in two different languages and neither is her native tongue is quite impressive in my opinion. Anyway, REACT TO YAYA DING DONG! 😆
If I may suggest an, in my opinion, appropriate synonym to "simplicity"; clairity.
Could you be any cuter? I don't think so. I love your enthusiasm. And, your expertise.
Sertap Erener aşk live performance reactionn plasee 🥰🙏💙💙
Molly brook to mamy miles.
I think there is some (mild) autotune on the vocals. Not sure why, because she is a great singer.
