Better to take chances and risk getting tko'd, but also have a better chance at knocking Israel out and winning. Standing there and doing nothing, taking no damage but then losing the fight unanimously is the worst option.

I love Yoel, but I’m so disappointed in him/this fight. I figured he was gonna literally give it everything he had so that he would finally get that belt he’s been robbed of once or twice (debatably) before his career is over. I seriously don’t understand what he was thinking...was just bizarre. I understand that it was a bad matchup--both counter punchers and all, but come on use your wrestling if you’re uncomfortable going forward, or something! Super upset about this one.
Whittaker destroyed his confidence after gassing him and dominating 4&5 in the first fight. Has been super conservite style Yoel.

Mayhem World Against Costa he gave it everything he had, and the judges scored it against him (he actually won). Against Whitaker 2 he gave it everything, and he lost (he actually won). Now he fought smart, did more damage (leg kicks don’t count, that’s not real damage) and he lost (he actually won). The truth is: the UFC likes well spoken champions. Izzy is well spoken, Romero isn’t. That’s why the UFC loves Izzy. Even though hems a running coward. Romero is awesome. If he were well spoken, they would market him like Hercules.

He's the champ! He doesn't have to prove anything. He's the guy that you go and you have to take him out HARD to show who's top dog. Romero was just standing there and not engaging. Adesanya would have been dumb (and he even said so in his press conference) if he tried to go after Romero and risk Romero's poweful counter punches.
Just to be clear: if Romero was the champ and Israel was the guy just defending, I would be saying the same thing.

Yoel is a tactician, he's known for several other stunts he's pulled in the past like waiting too long in a corner, not standing up, faking eye pokes etc. don't be a follower of his tricks, watch with your own eyes. Fought jones because there was noone else at the time and Chaels wrestling could have posed a serious threat to jones, ultimately it didnt ofc. Chael got a lot of opportunities because if you gave him a microphone he sold fights, but also because he had decent skills.

That's why Conor McGregor haters will still pay to watch him fight and why he's the PPV king. He always comes to fight, win, lose or draw. Adesanya was exposed tonight. Well, Costa has done that every fight, so why would it be wrong to think he would do it again? He did it against Romero as well which resulted in him winning the fight, he knocked Romero down and pressured him around the cage for 2 and a half-round. He is clearly confident in taking a punch and has no problem in making it his fight, controlling the octagon etc.
Adesanya, on the other hand, was out here talking about finishing Romero, retiring Romero. Romero fought the way he did to prove a point that Adesanya had no intention to truly fight unless you bring the fight to Adesanya he does shit all. It was funny seeing Romero stand there, especially in the beginning, Adesanya had no idea what he was going to do, barely had the courage to step forward and obviously not to exchange. The toughness of a fighter is revealed best when they are fighting against an equally fierce opponent. Joanna showed a lot of people just how tough she is. I admit that I myself underestimated her. But only because of how insanely badass Zhang is. I actually thought JJ won that fight. Reach made all the difference.
In my opinion JJ won that fight but it was extremely close, more of a draw if anything if I’m being honest. But I really do think judges take damage/how the fighters look into account when scoring. You can’t give the person who got punched up so badly they look like a beluga whale the win (Joanna) when their opponent looks in significantly better shape damage wise (Zhang). I think if the hematoma didn’t form on Joanna’s head she would have walked away with the belt. But in a fight that close the crappy judges will never give the win to the person who looks more damaged even though in my opinion Joanna won that fight. The reason I think Joanna won is simply based on scoring strikes, Joanna hit Zhang more than Zhang hit her. Unfortunately the crappy MMA judging we’ve been dealing with seems to focus more on who looks the most damaged in standup fights.
Also for anyone thinking I’m just a Joanna fanboy... I actually had a lot of money on Zhang and I’m glad my bet won. But I can’t let my bias interfere on this fight. It was truly the best women’s fight in MMA history and a top 5 fight overall in MMA history.

Remember how Izzy also did nothing for the first two rounds? Three landed shin kicks in the first round to the biggest power shot of the fight and a huge flying kick to the body. You might not like him standing still but he did way more those first two rounds than Izzy did. And Izzy refused to fight the 5th thinking he already had the decision.

Crazy night of fights! Awesome. Even yoel and Izzy. That was a good fight too. We just got spoiled by all of the previous gifts of performances. Main event was slower than the rest of the card but still a fun fight. You never know what's going to happen at any moment.
Of course he put all the blame on Yoel and not on his new golden boy. Even though it was Israels face that was looking like he was running into a bus somewhere in between rounds.
