Maybe have a welder put a small tac on each of the 2 bolts for the light bar wear you can get to it with a small dremel if you need to take the light off. The problem with the safety bolts is harbor freight sells a security bolt bit removal kit cheap
New subscriber here. Loving the channel! I just went looking for the proclip and it appears they don’t make that one anymore. Now they have a way less convenient one that mounts to the left of the screen. Have you seen anything else similar?
I have heard reports that its also possible if you can get the switch that is used with the GM sport bar light kit, You can use that to switch other brand relays and you will get the little AUX Light indicator on the cluster. but it does require adding wires to the stock harnass to access the BCM. And in a few days I will have the parts to add HID to my 2020 Z71. Also got the Gen5DIY-HID harnass.

Hey man really been enjoying all your Colorado vids. I just bought a black 2017 Z71 crewcab and I am loving it! Based on your recommendations I have ordered the tail lights, 3rd brake light, LED low beams (for now), interior LED lights, vinyl stickers for the chevy logos, a heat gun, caulking, dielectric grease (never even heard of this thanks!) I did read some reviews of people saying the 3rd break light you installed can leak into the cabin and cause damage due to a poor seal on the light. I am going to put a small amount of caulking around mine to make sure it doesn't leak! Might be worth to make that modification. Love your vids and the look of your truck!
Thank you! I'm glad I could help. The tail lights are definitely problematic without that sealant so you'll definitely want to make sure you get it sealed up good. Mine have been PERFECT since I did it! *knock on wood*
The other day someone in a parking lot stole someone’s tires there where attached to the vehicle. Lol, so they jacked up the car to remove them, that is crazy. Winter tires in Canada is like gold over here.
The AFE GT momentum cold air intake paired with the AFE throttle body spacer made 15 WHP on the dyno! by far the best cold air intake for this truck I have it on my 2017 GMC canyon
Excellent! Suspect mods will work for my 2016 GMC Canyon. I really like the OEM style switch. And, the light bar is something I have been considering. Nice C7? too. Have a 99 C5 vert. Our tastes in cars and trucks are very similar. ;-) Glad I ran into “you.”

I added the factory fender flares already with black raptor side steps shortly after purchase. Left them black (not painted) keeping the my truck’s Black/White theme going. I did make the mistake of not future thinking... cutting the 3m tape. Very smart.
That phone holder should be up higher. Looking that low requires you to take your eyes completely off the road. I've got my plastic clip holder on the vent nearest the wheel and you can at least use peripheral vision for the road while glancing at Waze. In addition, that sharp edge is going to represent a hazard to a passenger's left knee in an accident.

Damn I got the same switch only I don't have that extra wire coming out the back I seen on that website you got it from it's out of stock it took me 2 weeks to find one OEM switch with the two extra buttons hopefully I'll figure this out I picked up an oem sports bar from Facebook marketplace the wiring harness that goes from fuse panel to the sports bar is completely obsolete
I kinda miss the color but the ZR1 is an improvement in every way over the Z06. I may do a red wrap in the future... we'll see. I'm digging the black for now.
@@HorsePowerObsessed I just wrapped my audi myself, because I wanted to see how hard it was. I learned a lot. Mostly that I'll never let anyone touch my car. It's soooo easy to cut your clearcoat or deeper, even doing everything the "right" way, which is really the only way. Black would show every mistake when unwrapped and there will be many. I'd leave it be, or do something that can be done 100% with knifeless tape.
@@HorsePowerObsessed I'd definitely be up for helping out as long as it was knifeless against your ZR1. It's pretty easy skills-wise but it is a ton of work to do a whole car. I probably watched 48 hours worth of CK wraps youtube, which is an awsome channel for DYI wrapping. In one video he had a 3M company guy show how he does every body panel knifelessly. Yeah, I already had half my car done when I saw that one. I'm from Philly originally and have family there, so I'd love to swing by someday and say hello and help out a little if you are ok with someone even looking at your car.
See your also in Pa. You have any problems passing state inspection with the LED lights ? All the aftermarkets say their for off road use only but nowadays there are so many vehicle's with stock HD's I can't see lights being a problem.

I have a 2019 ZR2 and wanted to install a factory switch, but the ZR2 doesn’t have fog lights so I wanted to install some Led off road and a nice light bar. But after seeing yours I know which one I am installing. Which brings on another challenge with the switch. The parts people at the dealer don’t have the time or just don’t want to help research. Because there is no place to put a nice looking quality switch. But you have me thinking about the way you went with the factory switch I might be able to use the factory fog light position for some Rigid 360 4” on that switch but I probably need to know the wiring pins to do that. I f you happen to know or if anyone knows please help. I would very much appreciate the help and your time with this. Thank you. And keep up the nice work your putting into your rig.

HorsePower Obsessed Well, I’m sticking with the 2 inch rough country level for now, because I’m a broke college kid, lol. But, I keep catching myself checking out the 5.5 inch BDS kit, it seems well worth the price, so I hope to do that in the future. I haven’t seen many Z71s with that setup.

Question, where to take new truck to get wash during the winter? My 05 Chevy Colorado always took it to the carwash but I can tell now I have micro scratches and swirl marks, yesterday I tried to foam blast my new truck but it just was too dayum cold, we have a brushless car wash here but it just doesn't the job, ugh!!
They are just the rubber all weather mats from GM for the Colorado. Definitely my favorite set out of the offerings out there. I think they are thicker, better fitting, and nicer looking than the weathertech counterpart.

Love this video. Had a question tho hopefully you can help me. I have the rough country but now they come with 2 settings & a different button. I want to add the switch you put on but there’s 2 setting on the light bar. One is dim enough to run normally without blinding anyone and the second one is the really bright setting like you had in this video. How do I go about connecting it to the new switch to be able to use both settings instead of one? Do I connect the low one to to the fog light button and the bright one to the other button? I hope I’m not confusing you here lol
OK I have a 2018 Colorado dark Green.. I am up in Canada Quebec,, so have separate Black mags for my snows.. Like he Black mags better so may buy another set for the all seasons.. Snows are mandatory up here in winter.. .Question is I have stock tonneau cover on a crew cab/5 ft tonneau... I love your headache rack... do you have a video on that and can I keep the stock cover ?

I've been looking at a catback exhaust system and the only one that sounds decent IMO is the Flowmaster, but I want the cabin to remain mostly quite. to remove the bumper there are two bolts in the lower air duct after installing a light bar there is no way to reinstall those two bolts holding the bumper to the truck . what should I do? sure easy leave them out but is that right? the bumper is just not as secure as original that's like leaving to lug nuts off a wheel and calling it good enough

@@vepo2341 I use the Pro Clip mounts that are magnetic. It has half a stainless steel ball with a magnetic mount that can be rotated to desired angle. You only attach a flat stainless disc to the back of your phone, ipod etc. It holds very tightly and won't fall off with bumps, but pulls off easily. I have the Pro Clip magnetics in all of my cars and my family all have the discs attached to the back of their electronics. Very low profile.
You didn’t show the part how you did to make the aftermarket light bar to work with the OEM switch. I got a wire from Baja light but I’m trying to plug the OEM sport bar lights but that part where I have to integrate it to that new OEM switch like yours don’t know how to do. Can you give me some insights?
I did show all of it. This isn't an OEM light. It's from a website that takes an OEM light and adds a wire to the back to allow you to hook up an aftermarket light bar such as this.
Does the Go Rhino exhaust tip change the sound at all? I want to do something with my exhaust to beef the sound up but i dont know what will do that in a V6...

I really, really like that phone mount but I can't find it anywhere online! I even chatted with a proclip rep about it but he said they don't have it available for the 2019 Colorado. Do you have the exact link to the mount?
Look at coursems mount it secures with bolt behind radio bezel and is so sturdy and perfect position. Best mount I've had and I had proclip before this.

Hey man love the content and information with the mods. I have a 2019 Colorado Z71 and I'm ordering the tail lights but when I click the link for the third brake light it says it doesn't fit 2019. Do you think it will fit and it's just because of the name posted on Amazon being '15 through '18? I'm almost sure it's the same. Any advice is helpful. Thanks

You are correct it is no longer available. It a shame has the replacement 855584 mounts over the vent which is not acceptable. Great video by the way.
I'm late to the show. All the cool parts I want for my truck and can't seem to get. Offhighwayequipment site cant be found. Major disappointment I want that switch. That cool phone holder has even been redesigned to fit in front of the vent.
Update I found the switch part #23458495 via Coloradofans.com and available from tascaparts.com. Thanks again for letting me know the option. I really didn't want a tacky switch butchered in my dash.
That switch won't work with an aftermarket light bar. This one from offhighwayequipment was altered to have a relay, etc. built into it for use with aftermarket equipment.

That's where it's meant to install. There aren't any sharp corners on it.

Nice work but $300 and change for the OEM switch, I think I'd opt for a nice aftermarker.
I would like to keep stuff looking stock for the most part, especially on the interior but to each their own.

Hand washed is the best. Touchless is your next best bet but like you said, it isn't always 100%

Hey OPO, love the videos and you have given me many ideas for my 2020 RST Colorado. I've been looking at a catback exhaust system and the only one that sounds decent IMO is the Flowmaster, but I want the cabin to remain mostly quite. Have you seen, or better yet heard of anything that sounds good to you? Why haven't you tackled the sound of the Colorado yet? bp in Garland TX

to remove the bumper there are two bolts in the lower air duct after installing a light bar there is no way to reinstall those two bolts holding the bumper to the truck . what should I do? sure easy leave them out but is that right? the bumper is just not as secure as original that's like leaving to lug nuts off a wheel and calling it good enough
You can still get to those bolts, just don't bolt the light bar in until after you get those 2 bolts put back.

@@vepo2341 I use the Pro Clip mounts that are magnetic. It has half a stainless steel ball with a magnetic mount that can be rotated to desired angle. You only attach a flat stainless disc to the back of your phone, ipod etc. It holds very tightly and won't fall off with bumps, but pulls off easily. I have the Pro Clip magnetics in all of my cars and my family all have the discs attached to the back of their electronics. Very low profile.

I got a wire from Baja light but I’m trying to plug the OEM sport bar lights but that part where I have to integrate it to that new OEM switch like yours don’t know how to do.

I did show all of it. This isn't an OEM light. It's from a website that takes an OEM light and adds a wire to the back to allow you to hook up an aftermarket light bar such as this.
Does the Go Rhino exhaust tip change the sound at all? I want to do something with my exhaust to beef the sound up but i dont know what will do that in a V6...

😭 they have a new phone mount and it sucks, it mounts in Front of the AC vent and blocking off the 8 inch screen at the same time.
I'm not sure why they changed it. I feel like this design was way better myself.. 🤷♂️

Look at coursems mount it secures with bolt behind radio bezel and is so sturdy and perfect position. Best mount I've had and I had proclip before this.

Hey man love the content and information with the mods. I have a 2019 Colorado Z71 and I'm ordering the tail lights but when I click the link for the third brake light it says it doesn't fit 2019. Do you think it will fit and it's just because of the name posted on Amazon being '15 through '18? I'm almost sure it's the same. Any advice is helpful. Thanks

You are correct it is no longer available. It a shame has the replacement 855584 mounts over the vent which is not acceptable. Great video by the way.
All Chevy headlight switches are "blue ring" or "red ring" for some reason.

I found the switch part #23458495 via Coloradofans.com and available from tascaparts.com. Thanks again for letting me know the option. I really didn't want a tacky switch butchered in my dash.
That switch won't work with an aftermarket light bar. This one from offhighwayequipment was altered to have a relay, etc. built into it for use with aftermarket equipment.
