That cackle Seth makes when his jank works is a thing of beauty. Someone should edit together all of his best cackles much like the hit our swans draw some cards montage.
I'm fully aware of how powerful Death's Shadow is in theory, but I swear to God I have never seen Seth lose to Death's Shadow with an against the odds deck. Maybe I'm insane but it seems like the lowering your own life total can leave you open to unexpected jank that can steal games.
so at 4:51 you should have let declare blockers resolve, you had lethal on board, since your Horde and Leige Have trample they need to be careful how they block, and assuming the snapcatser is the only new blocker and your opponent uses the fatal push in his grave you could stil have won. Don't assume your opponent can see what you can see and is thinking like you are. TLDR: SETH STOP CONCEDING SO QUICKLY.
Yeah, I feel that saying it's not fun winning due to mistakes made by your opponent is a fairly weird statement. Assuming parity between players (so similar skill levels and your deck is an average match up against theirs), you generally win due to making less mistakes than your opponent. That tends to be how games like this work. Now it's not true 100% of the time like it is in chess, but mostly you win because your opponent made a mistake (that mistake could be as far back as deck building, doesn't have to be during play) and you didn't. It's a very large part of the reason I'd inform new players to always make your opponent kill you instead of conceding, it gives you more opportunity to figure out what your mistake was and it also gives you more information about what the opponent is doing. Obviously Seth doesn't fall into the category, but I do think he sometimes concedes to easily. Taking myself as an example, I'll rarely concede unless my opponent has the means to kill me on board and I don't have any outs. This is mainly because I've had people concede to me at the point I ran out of steam and would have had trouble closing the game. While I also get that many people don't like sitting through an opponents combo, I also feel that it's important to make them use the combo, for a couple of reasons. First is that they could fizzle and second is that if people constantly concede to them the chance of them fizzling in the matches where the opponent makes them use the combo goes up, as they don't get as much practice sequencing it. I'll generally give people a minute or two to kill me before conceding (unless we're running out of time in a non mtgo game).
I'm going thru tech school in the Air Force right now, and I just wanna say I love your videos, amazing content and much needed entertainment at the end of a long day! Love the swans montage!! Keep being awesome!
When I watch your past videos, I can't help but notice they're improving in quality all this time. You're becoming better and better at entertaining, Seth, good job for you. And awesome deck, by the way. ^^
Beyond even the amazing Swans segment, my favorite thing about this video is the fact you got to use Liege of the Tangle and win. I got that card as a mythic ages ago and I've never managed to use it because of its cost, so I was very happy to see it wreck face. Great job!
Seth! Love the deck as always. I would be so happy if for some reason you saw this and could tell me what forest that is. That is my favorite forest! Hit your swan and draw some cards.
Sad I missed this when it was new. Tribal Elementals is my pet modern deck. I run evoke creatures alongside cloudshift and undying evil, not unlike your evoke esper budget deck. It actually packs quite a punch. Many decks just die outright to an early game evoked Shriekmaw with a flicker on the evoke stack. Soulstoking out a Reveillark and flickering it on the stack is game breaking as well. Even the sideboard is filled with evoke deck tech. Wispmare kills enchants, Ingot Chewer kills artifacts, Offalsnout exiles graveyard cards, etc. With all those "creatures as spells" in the deck, you can get away running Ancient Ziggurats too.
I don't think so. When playing swans you really want to dig as deep into your deck as possible in order to find your combo pieces through all of the lands I:e it's the scry 2 that swans really values , although even then it's pretty much just a dead card put into the deck.
The seismic swans montage made me realize what you should`ve done for episode 100: you play tron against viewers that play a best-of list of old AtO decks
In the third match, it seems like mulling for a piece of removal or counter makes you pretty golden. I think its a little greedy to not at least try to have your sideboard cards, they are worth like 4 regular cards!
It's possible we should have been more aggressive there. The problems is if we go with Liege our opponent can block it with the 8/8 Death Shadow (and take zero) and if they can also kill the Horde of Notions we're at risk of losing on the backswing.
It's super risky. If we Generator our Liege and our opponent can eat the Liege with Death's Shadow by cracking their fetch and then a removal spell on Horde means we likely just lose on the back swing.
I'm surprised that there is no Primal Beyond in this deck considering the color requirements and the fact that it is a 5 color elemental land in addition to the Cavern of Souls; especially considering Primal Beyond lets you pay for the activated abilities of your elementals as well.
Man!!! I used to play a mono-red version of that. With Nova Chaser and Fling! You should try it someday Seth. It was Budget. But you can cut down the Breach, Horde, 2x Mulldrifter, 2x Liege and Remand for Nova Chaser, Fling and Koth and change the manabase. You even get Blood Moon! hahahaha
Deck is super sweet- but do you think it'd still work if you removed the Horde of Notions plan, made the deck U/R (keeping Leige of course) and added Blood Moon? I think that could make the deck more resistant.
True, but bringing the deck down to two colours means you don't HAVE to use Cavern. Or even just use a couple as a backup in the maindeck or sideboard? Not every deck breaks down to Blood Moon, so against mono-blue, UB or UR control you can always take Blood Moons out and slot in the Caverns.
Aye, tis true. I guess you could just run less mountains and use a playset of Caverns? I wanted to make the deck irl you see, and I don't have a playset of Caverns so I also wanted to make it a wee bit cheaper too xD
That was insanity. Liege Of The Tangle. Who knew it'd be one of the best targets to cheat in? Also, so much love for you using MagicManSam's hit-our-swans montage. Did you have to ask for permission to use it?
All in Shaman is pretty much a traditional tribal aggro deck that tries to be extra fast thanks to Burning-Tree Emissary (I want to try that deck again with Metallic Mimic though, which seems like the perfect lord for a Rage Shaman deck).
Thanks to Magic Man Sam who made the Swan's montage. You can check out it awesome channel here! th-cam.com/users/themagicmansam33
MTGGoldfish Is there a link to just the montage?
I don't believe he actually posted the montage on his channel, he just made it for fun and posted it to twitter.
Original montage was posted on his twitter:

Great idea to include it!
BEST INTERLUDE EVAR!
THAT "HIT OUR SWANS, DRAW SOME CARDS" MONTAGE OUT OF NOWHERE. TOO GOOD
That was brilliant editing
That was actually originally a mashup by TheMagicManSam on Twitter like 6 months ago that he tweeted at Seth.
Jebuscus Graham timestamp? 15:35
Best part of the video
"If our opponent has a planeswalker that wins the game, we lose"
~SaffronOlive, 2017
This genuinely mad me laugh
TRIUMPHANT RETURN
OF HIT OUR SWANS
the swans reference had me rolling
the flash back was amazing
That cackle Seth makes when his jank works is a thing of beauty. Someone should edit together all of his best cackles much like the hit our swans draw some cards montage.
That flashback edit was GOLD
"Hit our swans, draw a card!"
I WAS DYING LAUGHING
"I'm never afraid of death's shadow no matter what i'm playing i never lose to it"
-paraphrased but more or less a quote from seth
You enthusiasm is contagious.
The swans montage is priceless. It had me actually laughing out loud.
"Oh they have to be so tilted! They're breaching real creatures, and we're breaching Liege of the Tangle, and it's beating them!" XD XD XD
Troll Seth is best Seth.
That laugh tho.
That laugh can only be described as a cackle.
"Aaaagainst the Odds time! Playing some, Ugg." Thanks for catering to your Caveman audience! Much love!
I'm fully aware of how powerful Death's Shadow is in theory, but I swear to God I have never seen Seth lose to Death's Shadow with an against the odds deck. Maybe I'm insane but it seems like the lowering your own life total can leave you open to unexpected jank that can steal games.

The problem here is casting dismember with snapcaster mage effect, on horde, I think...
You're right, but it's not really fun winning because of opponent's mistake right?
Wrong.
Well, you win most Matches because you did fewer mistakes than your oppenent.
Yeah, I feel that saying it's not fun winning due to mistakes made by your opponent is a fairly weird statement. I remeber Mulldrifter in a "why not in modern" video. Well, i think you found a home for it. x)
I guess you could say that you were in your element when you beat deaths shadow
Henry Wallace lol
I don't know which is a purer expression of joy, children's laughter on Christmas or Seth's screams when a tier 1 deck gives him the GGs
15:41
I had anime open in another tab and I thought it had started playing without me clicking play. Threw me for a loop.
This deck was so good it made Seth go insane
I liked it when the guy hit his swans...
I'm going thru tech school in the Air Force right now, and I just wanna say I love your videos, amazing content and much needed entertainment at the end of a long day! Love the swans montage!! Keep being awesome!
HIT SOME SWANS!
fueledfire draw some cards

"let's just get mulldrifter. I mean liege of the tangle. That's what i meant."
Damn straight that's you meant.
God, that Breach v. Breach battle was bloody AMAZING.
My favorite part is where you said Swans
Having a 1 mana tutor for your breach target AND backup breaches certainly helps. Deck seems really sweet.
15:41 - 16:15 We need a 1 hour loop of this.
yes please
Rumor has it that the military plays and endless loop of this at Guantanamo to break people.
Your elementals breached your opponents' unmentionables.
that breach mirror was beautiful to watch
MTGO needs a more video resources to capture such moments.
Liege of the Tangle > Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
Seth, you had the mana at around 3:00
Two from generator servant and six from lands. Liege costs 8. It would of had haste, thus lethal!
Does anyone else love that Seismic Swans for killed by lands?
I love this deck! I want to see more!
Seth! Love the deck as always. I would be so happy if for some reason you saw this and could tell me what forest that is. That is my favorite forest! Hit your swan and draw some cards.
TantrumTriesHard That is an Odyssey forest. Card number 349 to be exact.
This deck was awesome. I wanna play this now. Also you were laughing so hard you forgot to bring in Cloudthresher against Faeries, lol
We've been waiting for years! The brand new sequel to When Harry met Sally, "When Timmy met Johnny!!"
Sad I missed this when it was new. Tribal Elementals is my pet modern deck. I run evoke creatures alongside cloudshift and undying evil, not unlike your evoke esper budget deck. 33:10 "Liege plush" why did that make me laugh :D
The lesson from this against the ods is that as long as what your breaching is large, swingy and can win you the game it dosn't have to be emrakul
I mean I've always enjoyed watching against the odds, but this one, my god saffronolive you are a genious.
This deck was sweet Seth! Are you going to be working on it more or streaming it? I'd love to see more!
"We don't have anything for this match", he said, not siding the Relics against a deck with Tasigur and Gurmag Angler in it.
Is swans going to be better now that it will have access to opt?
I don't think so.
When playing swans you really want to dig as deep into your deck as possible in order to find your combo pieces through all of the lands I:e it's the scry 2 that swans really values , although even then it's pretty much just a dead card put into the deck.
I don't think Opt is better than Serum Visions is most decks.
The seismic swans montage made me realize what you should`ve done for episode 100: you play tron against viewers that play a best-of list of old AtO decks
In the third match, it seems like mulling for a piece of removal or counter makes you pretty golden. I think its a little greedy to not at least try to have your sideboard cards, they are worth like 4 regular cards!
one of the best against the odds I've seen so far keep it up with rouge tribal
That was a super flavorful deck Seth. Great job \o/
Thanks for the swans montage, you're the best Seth!
Oomg! Love this! ELEMENTALS!! "THROUGH THE SOULSTOKE"!! LEIGE OF THE TANGLE!!
That swans montage was awesome lol Seth I think I've seen you survive 3 emrakuls already too XD
October 14th is the 2 year anniversary of 34 Rhinos, the best Against the Odds deck. I hope we get a Modern version!
I'm INLOVE WITH THIS DECK!!
3:41 you had enough mana to cast a haste uncounterable liege of the tangle... that seems like game to me
It's possible we should have been more aggressive there. The problems is if we go with Liege our opponent can block it with the 8/8 Death Shadow (and take zero) and if they can also kill the Horde of Notions we're at risk of losing on the backswing.
Did you notice that reservent adds mana for any spells? it seems not looking to this games
Emrakul choking on big fat elemental shafts, Seth you are a legend
3:25, isn't generator servanting out Liege a lethal attack? You held the Liege till you soulstoked it, but never discussed using generator servant.
When is this deck going to be on stream
Elemental Breach beats Death's Shadow, Swans beats Elemental Breach, therefore Swans beats Death Shadow? Ban Swans now plz, unbeatable and OP.
That "swans" flashback was perfect
Around 11' you could've cast the Liege, but you've still won by cheating with the lord
I came down here to say this. Generator Servant gives haste, no need to use Soulstoke there. Still worked though
OMG Seth you took out your ancestral recalls vs the swans deck :)
That last game could not have been a more perfect end
Where was the Tron match up that is obligatory whenever you play modern?
Not boarding relic in against death shadow was a punt
seth you might want to play omnath locus of rage in this deck as an additional finisher
popky101 you don't get very much value out of him when you breach it out.
the jank is strong with this one.....
would you consider playing a janky combo brew i made on against the odds?
I think that could make the deck more resistant.
it does. but blood moon screws with your caverns
True, but bringing the deck down to two colours means you don't HAVE to use Cavern. Or even just use a couple as a backup in the maindeck or sideboard? Not every deck breaks down to Blood Moon, so against mono-blue, UB or UR control you can always take Blood Moons out and slot in the Caverns.
the main draw of cavern is the uncounterable stuff. so yes, your plan seems good
Aye, tis true. I guess you could just run less mountains and use a playset of Caverns? I wanted to make the deck irl you see, and I don't have a playset of Caverns so I also wanted to make it a wee bit cheaper too xD
Why would you side out Ancestral Recall against Swans deck?
I love that seismic swans bit. You should edit stuff like that in more it was gold
Loved this video and the list! 10/10
How about silent arbiter and a bunch of creatures with menace?
2:25 you sure you gonna end that game with that "razing veen"
and at 3:41, why not hardcast that liege of the tangle
That montage was gold!
Elementals vs Faeries? This really is Llorwiyn standard!
im gonna build the swans deck just for say "hit the swans draw some cards" to my local game store friends xD
This deck makes me so happy. Liege of the Tangle was the first mythic I tried to build around. I built a crappy ramp deck, not this magnificent beast!
15:37 Relive the best part of the video here
That was insanity. Liege Of The Tangle. Who knew it'd be one of the best targets to cheat in?
Also, so much love for you using MagicManSam's hit-our-swans montage. Did you have to ask for permission to use it?
Is this when you make one of those "Hit our swans, draw some cards 24 hour megamix" videos?
Seth. I think we all need to know what the "CatsCars" deck is....
Could Wispmare and Ingot Chewer be superior enchantment/ artifact destruction sideboard options for this deck?
That's a good question. Being Elemental is an upside, although they might still be worse than more efficient options.
I was dying with the Swans edit.
Seth, Question. Isn't that similar to All In Shaman with just the fact its a tribal aggro deck but with through the reach and a few bigger cards?
huh elemental breach has nothing to do with aggro?
All in Shaman is pretty much a traditional tribal aggro deck that tries to be extra fast thanks to Burning-Tree Emissary (I want to try that deck again with Metallic Mimic though, which seems like the perfect lord for a Rage Shaman deck).
Is there a reason for not playing primal beyond?
No cloudthresher versus faries Seth :(
I'm so sad that we didn't get to see the Magical Christmas Land fast Liege.. :'(
That montage was amazing
no tron match up?
Closest i've ever come to first :) Love your content Seth!
Why not cast liege in game 1 of match 1? Could've made it hasty as well.
That Death Shadow was big, and we would have had to sac a creature.
Well, I definitely have newfound respect for Liege of the Tangle now.
This was awesome :D
Take a shot, everytime he says hit the swans, draw some cards :)
