  • It's barely been 24 hours but it's already time for a swap! I used my Keychron Cherry Profile Double - Shot PBT Full Set Keycaps Hacker Mint that I originally bought for my K4.

You should note that from an ergonomics perspective, you are meant to rotate the split keyboards inwards like the Alice layout. It helps to keep your wrists in a more natural position. The advantage this has over the Alice layout is that you can position each half separated to acomodate your shoulder width and you'll feel more comfortable long term.
    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the insight! I'm trying that out right now and the angle is making a difference!!! can't believe I didn't do this earlier because it makes perfect sense. This will be noted in my detailed review of the Q11 for sure.

This is not correct.. it depends on how wide you like your keyboard. If you fully open your shoulders/chest, tilting them outwards is the natural tilt. If you wee going to keep your shoulders/chest close, why get a split keyboard? Just get an Alice.

It IS kind of hard to get used to rotating the separate halves when its not in an ortho columner layout. It sort of feels more natural to have it straight, but separate. You are correct, though that it is more ergonomic to rotate the halves.

I went down the mechanical keyboard rabbit the last couple years and now I am wondering if I need to go to an ergonomic keyboard. when I try to type efficiently, I always feel like I am squeezing my shoulders together and twisting my my wrist. to the point where I touch type with my right hand while hunt and peck with my left. I've looked at these split keyboards and am curious if these would suffice or go crazy expensive and get a custom ergo

This board was super uncomfortable at first but after just a week I feel awkward when I use a "normal" board. It feels weird that my thumbs are touching each other on this apple "magic" keyboard I'm using right now. I didn't know I would like the Q11 so much but it's really great. I think my next board will be one of those crazy expensive ergo boards unless someone in my family takes the hint and gets me that Lego board for my birthday.

That's interesting...I've noticed other people doing this with split keyboards. They separate the halves then tilt each half THE WRONG WAY so it feels more like the poor wrist position they've always been used to.

It's not wrong.. normal Alice keyboards are tilted inwards because that is the angle your wrist tilt when your shoulders are close together. With a Split you are able to open your shoulders up which changes your wrist angle. With your chest/shoulder open, your wrist angle is more straight or a little outwards. If you went inwards it would push your elbow out like you were doing the chicken dance lol
