Creating index and views that has less than 5000 items still does not work when you are trying to sync the calendar with outlook in SharePoint Online. Any idea how to make this work?
Nate, if I am using Sharepoint strictly as data storage and the users have mapped drives and do not sync to the libraries, and don't even access the website is this 5000 limit an issue? I have a library that has 85,000 items and they appear to be doing well....
Hi Shawn, no you shouldn't run into a view threshold issue when syncing libraries. This would only apply when users are viewing lists and libraries in the browser.
thank you this is a great video. I have a question though, because i use my list and my "all issues" view as my source for my PBI report. If i modify the view, my source will be compromised and i would have to pretty much modify my entire report, and for my report i really need all the data. Is there anything i can do so that i dont lose my data?

Hi Nate, awesome video there describing the solution in perfect detail. Would the large data sets also affect the BI visualisation ? Because everytime we refresh, BI fetches the entire list data would that be a problem ?
Hi Nate - great video. I have a document library that greatly exceeds the threshold limit. I need to add a calculated column to it, and it isn't letting me. I tried changing all the views (there are only 3) so that they are filtered on indexed columns, but it still gave me the error when I tried creating a calculated column. Do you know if there's a way around that? I really don't want to move the documents into folders at this point. (Also - in case this matters - I know at least one user of a library has created a document view - so could it still be failing because of that, even though I've tried modifying the three public views?)
If I create multiple document libraries in a sharepoint site, will I have sync all of them to my desktop? and if so, will they be in all different folders? is it easy to edit files (Like InDesign files) cross-document libraries?

Good info Nate and very well demonstrated, but it would have been very nice if you would have also suggested using modern view, as modern view is capable of showing more than 5k items in a view when not sorted with columns like people,look up and managed metadata.
I found it. Looks like we are already in Modern View but we are still getting the error "The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold."
@@hondabuf may be due to below scenario Columns with column types like people, lookup, or managed metadata can cause list view threshold errors when sorting. Hola Nate un saludo desde México. Mi primera lista aún no llega a las 5000 elementos estoy a 600 registros de ello. Vi tu vídeo y creo me ayudó mucho. Espero dentro de 2 días ver el comportamiento de mi lista. Estoy un poco preocupado ya que esa lista esta conectada a una app en Power Apps y si algo va mal la producción en mi área se detendría. 😬😬😬
Migrated all my users online average library size is my organisation is 580,000 documents in on library all metadata tagged Some I have managed to resolve. I even ran out of index 20 is the limit . I have scares to show ....... lol

there are no options when I scroll all the way down, on local server. so there is no options to change view.
