You went a really complicated way to get in. I went here today and it is very easily accessible from the m and s car park. It is rather steep to get down but manageable. We didnt have any trouble finding it.
No it is not easily accessed from the carpark. Watch our first video. TOTALLY OVERGROWN, no path, it hadn't been accessed for some time: th-cam.com/video/Sq8n9qiy0mM/w-d-xo.html
You mentioned the royal train during the war. The train was actually stabled in the cutting you walked through with a loco attached so it could be pushed into the tunnel in the event of an air raid. My father was one of the police officers sent to guard the train and he said that at one point in the early hours the King climbed out for a stroll and a smoke stopping for a brief chat as he passed.
You can't make that up, that's MAGIC. That is a gem. I did wonder, about that, it would be very claustrophobic being in that cave at night in a train carriage. What you have said makes perfect sense. Thanks for that. Anything else you could share would be welcome. That is the point of this work.
interesting! the royal train now gets parked on the machen quarry line. a few years ago 2015? a local lad got too close and later had his front door kicked in to check his shotgun!
The other end is well blocked ... buuuuut its a well lit bone dry area

You made hard work of the approach - it is easily accessed from the M&S car park.
