That "worst" seat there at the top of section 329 is actually pretty cool for football. That little green shed was for end zone cameras because the view is directly between the uprights. Back in '04-05, the guy in that seat loved it because of the great end zone view and the shade of the camera box. I sat in sec 238, row 10 right in front of that.

They’re very strict in Oakland, can confirm. Ridiculous given the attendance. Then again the prices in Oakland for the product are ridiculous too. That said, Oakland’s security is also very easily avoided to anyone paying attention (because they often aren’t once the game starts).
My first game at Oakland was in the 90s. I was on a business trip and had a free evening. I walked up to the box office, asked for the best seats available, fully expecting nose bleeds, the ticket lady pointed to the whole map and said "everything is available". I sat on the far end of the A's dugout for like $25,! I've gone to many Oakland games since then and it hasn't changed at all, aside from a slow and steady degrading. RIP Oakland A's
The whole Oakland situation is sad. I think they are trying to make it harder to get in so they can move the team already or till they get a new stadium. However, Oakland is in severe debt right now so if they try to build a stadium is almost political suicide. The problems isn’t that they don’t want ti help them. It’s that they can’t. Great video, Zach. I feel so bad for the Oakland fans going through this. As you walked amongst them, you still see a love for the team. Kids and families going to games and enjoying an exciting walk off win against a division rival so beautiful. Especially with that drumline. I know that the As have been trying to work on a new stadium for several decades now. Personally, I wish there was a way that the As could build their new stadium right next to the coliseum in the parking lot. It would just so much easier for the fans to attend the games as well. But I know that the team wants to cash in the ballpark/real estate boom that several teams have been successful in implementing. That's a big reason why they've been pushing for the Downtown terminal for several years now, even though there are so many logistical problems with that site. Yet, as they have been pushing for this very difficult deal to pass through, they have also been deeply teasing and courting Las Vegas for some time now. I hate seeing teams move. It's the sad history of any sport.

Oakland does have a great fanbase. It's just unfortunate that the front office doesn't put a good product on the field for them. It's even more unfortunate that the city doesn't help them out with a new ballpark. I fear they will follow the Raiders to Vegas.
Great fan base show up even when the team is struggling. Oakland has always been competitive. Look at the cubs always had a packed house even the team was bad. And Oakland not supporting is going to cost them their team. Las Vegas is getting more people to show up at their minor league game in a smaller town. That’s shows another city wants a team. A few years ago I was wandering the lower concourse at Target Field in Minnesota late in the game with not many people at the game. While standing behind the left field bleachers, in the concourse, just checking out the view from there, one of the security guards came by and moved me along "You can't stand here". I wasn't in anyone's way, not blocking anyone's view, literally wide open around me. Pathetic.
I remember visiting Chicago in 1992 with my pops to watch a couple ball games at Wrigley. We bought tickets from a scalper we thought were pretty good, but we ended up right behind a big ass support post beside the right field side. So, pops and I went looking for empty seats closer to the field. Well, we found some great seats beside the bull pen in left. Then, during the 7th inning, a man and a woman show up to claim their seats. Who arrives at a baseball game in the 7th inning? It was ridiculous.
Dont blame the guards man. Blame their shitty managers that tell them to do that to the fans. Im sure if they didnt have to they wouldnt do what theyre doing. It bothers them too having to tell fans to back off.
Hey Zack - greetings from a fellow Guilford College Alumni / Scrabble enthusiast. Love to see you chasing your passion and being an inspiration for all the young fans. Hope you are able to continue finding great ways to encourage the youth and keep alive the fun in our national pastime. It's all about the fans! Would love to link up with you if your travels ever bring you through the Greensboro / Winston Salem area again!
As a kid and young adult, I attended games at the original Comiskey Park in Chicago. Built in early 1900's, there lots of posts and steel columns supporting upper structures. The chances of getting an instructed view were pretty high because of that. Also very dark I under upper levels, even during the day.
Zack is always such a class act. Always giving away balls to the kids. Not using his influence to harass the security guards. Being friendly to fans. Keep it up Zack!
I grew up going to that stadium, that is sad. You used to be able to get to the back where the players used to park, I got Mark Mc Grwire and Ricky Henderson’s autographs after the game. My childhood was pretty awesome because of that park.
I remember in Tiger Stadium there were seats literally behind stanchions in left field and right field. I mean you literally had a big piece of steel directly in front of you approximately 10 feet away. On a good day you MIGHT see an outfielder make a play. It was kind of cool though. Those old ball parks had their own quirks. Today's stadiums are ergonomic this or OSHA that. It takes their charm away in my opinion.
I had the pleasure of attending games at the coliseum during the late 80's. Seeing the greats play from the 3rd deck through binoculars. There were the occasional 1st deck games under the overhang and then there were the bleachers. Fun times and great memories. Haven't been there since 1992. Thanks for that trip down memory lane.
Just recently found your Channel after getting back into watching baseball and collecting again. You are the kind of person that keeps sports alive! Love the videos and the passion Zack. One day I will make it over to the USA to see a game or two myself.
Went to a game last week at the Big A when Oakland was in town, had the chance to talk to some folks from Oakland who had driven down to visit family and were at the game. It's sad hearing about the good old days, when the Coliseum was packed because of the shape of it apparently the sound would bounce around inside the stadium making it even louder than you would expect with 40k plus fans in attendance. Hopefully the move to Vegas comes soon and the A's can start playing in a packed house again. We southern Californians would really be in baseball heaven with the Dodgers, Angels, Padres, and Athletics all close enough to watch
I live far away on the east coast so doesn't affect me either way. But how can you root for them to go to some horrible indoor, artifical turf stadium playing in front of Vegas tourists vs. playing outdoors on grass in the California sunshine?
And here we are, May 15th 2023 with Fisher having basically destroyed a fanbase, a legacy, and doing his best to fleece Vegas into helping him continue being a rich swine. Every baseball fan should know the name Fisher as a disgrace to the game of baseball.
It’s frustrating that the A’s are my favorite team. I always wondered what it would be like to a support a team that could win a world series. that would be so cool.
In the early 1970s the A's were the best team in baseball& you saw empty seats during the playoffs( they did manage to sell out the world series.Reggie, McGuire, Canseco, Bando& more...hated that disease by the sleaze, my nickname for" Outlaw land, oops Oakland!
I used seat geek yesterday to get my tickets to the blue jays game on Sunday in the first row above the bullpen for just 90 dollars Canadian for two tickets thank you
Hey Zack, I commented on this topic yesterday, but I think you should go to a aviators or river cats game. There are a lot of ball opportunities, and it is a ton of fun. Love the vids!
Yes. This is why I like Tropicana Field. Usually their attendance is low, so I can go see them when the Cubs come to town, and it's just a chill atmosphere with mostly Cubs fans.
You should have met the angels fan recording himself at 16:10 He is trying to attend 162 baseball games for the Angels. He has tiktok but i forget what it is
Not only do the A's have little fans, the fans that are dedicated to the team don't even go because of protest. I live in SF so I'm not exactly sure if that is true or not.
They have little fans, big fans, and fans of average stature. The A's organization has always prided itself on offering a diverse, inclusive atmosphere to anyone that wants to see the sport!
It's a really rough situation all around for the A's. They have tried to build a new stadium in the past in various parts of the Bay Area, but every time they have some momentum, there's like a couple other issues that come up. sorta like one step foward, 2 steps back. so while a's ownership isnt great, you can say that they have at least tried some solutions. It's just that there is a lot of local politics that really cause the A's to struggle getting anything going, and the city leaders/local politicians are equally to blame
If I recall correctly they have tried to relocate or get a new stadium but it keeps falling through. Something about the voting failing at every step. At this point I think they're waiting for a lease to finally end so they can ship them off the Vegas. A good video to watch is the Urinatingtree video on the A's collapse. It's actually really good.
The A's just recently in early July got over a city hurdle for progress on a new stadium. They are definitely trying, but some city officials are still resistant. It wasn't approved to go on the November ballot for voters to weigh in on yet. This year, the GM also let most of their top talent go, and the team raised ticket prices, especially on season ticket holders. There isn't a lot of love btwn the fans and the organization right now.
Oh goodness stadiums have come such a long way. We had such a long debate here in Minnesota about how we shouldn't use taxpayer money, blah blah blah, and we had two teams crammed into a stadium that was far worse than A's stadium. Then we finally got the Twins their own place and Vikings got one too. They are so friggin nice. Why did we wait so long and play in that moldy colorless concrete giant known as the metrodome?
I feel bad for Oakland their owner ruined it and their stadium is terrible, if I were the players I would be a little disappointed if I saw very few fans at home.
It like the Oakland A is a small business and the big business, like the Yankees or Red Sox or Dodger. The small business tried to complete with the big business but fail miserably while the big business dominating the small business down, forcing them to close while making the small business workers work for the big business as corporate slaves. That pretty much happen to the A
@@aeiranozanghan8429 The only thing small about Oakland is their payroll. Their are 8 million people within easy driving distance of Oakland. It is a huge market filled with some of the wealthiest people in the country. There are more than enough people to fill a stadium. Their billionaire owner is just cheap.
@@wsol80 I agree, the problem is John J Fisher the owner of the A's won't spend money. Trust me if the A's played in Las Vegas, John J Fisher will still have one of the lowest payrolls. He needs to sell the team to someone who will spend money and let that new owner decide where the A's will play.
I was able the catch a game there in 2019. It’s true they haven’t maintained the stadium very well and Mt. Davis is horrible, but it also didn’t have all the other nonsense you see at other stadiums intended to attract casual fans and non-baseball people. The crowd was smallish but everybody there was there for the game… great fans. Also loved the history of the place. Between the A’s and Raiders there have been an amazing number of legendary players that called that place home.
@@ldfreitas9437 The reason the "Catch" was such a big play in 49 lore is primarily due to the fact they had been the laughing stocks of the NFL for decades prior to Jan. 10, 1982. Throughout the 60's and 70's Frisco was pathetic. During that same period across the Bay AL Davis was building a perennial bully in the Oakland Raiders. While SF was starving for something to cheer about, explaining why that fan base would basically come UNGLUED over one game winning T.D. pass, the bully of the AFC was involved in several AFC title games... as well as causing the NFL to create new rules to deal with the Raiders. See: Holy Roller, Lester the Molester and "Stick-um". Not to mention historical games like "Sea of Hands", "Immaculate Reception ", Ghost to the Post, The NBC debacle called the "Heidi Game" and who could forget Mike Davis intercepting Brian Sypes end zone pass with no time left to propel the Raider's past the Brown's at the Mistake by the Lake (Cleveland Municipal Stadium) during the divisional round of the 1980 season. Yeah, sure, the Raiders tanked after the 9ers got Montana but remained competitive at least. My point, the Catch is one play. Thankfully the Raiders gave me decades of excitement back when the NFL wasn't populated by millionaire crybabies kneeling on the blood soaked flag like Crappernick did.
The fact of the matter, and I'm 68 and grew up in the Bay Area, is that the Athletics never should have moved to Oakland in 1968. They had really good attendance in Kansas City. Basically, a new stadium was built along with the arena to see if the City of Oakland and Alameda County could poach teams from somewhere else, whether San Francisco or elsewhere. Charles O'Finley, the Athletics owner, took the bait. A reminder that there was no stadium for the Raiders to play in their first few years, so they played in San Francisco, at Kezar and Candlestick, in 1960 & '61 .
I love how you can stroll around the stadium. Try that in most other parks and get stopped all over to see your ticket so you can be sent where you belong.
really nice point that despite the city/county's best efforts to kick the A's out, there are still a small group of fans that are probably the best in baseball. amazing. side pt: i grew up at Shea Stadium too, always upper deck. good times.

Then, during the 7th inning, a man and a woman show up to claim their seats. Who arrives at a baseball game in the 7th inning? It was ridiculous.
That stinks. I'm a cubs fan myself and I learned that they put seats behind the support beams for the blind. Fun fact of the day
I hate stadium security it ruins the fun before during and after the game
Dont blame the guards man. Blame their shitty managers that tell them to do that to the fans. Im sure if they didnt have to they wouldnt do what theyre doing. It bothers them too having to tell fans to back off.
@@nica711 well that’s a good point man thank you the ushers r only doin there job so🤟🤟🤟
Blame the policy set by management.
That is the most RIDICULOUS baseball stadium I’ve ever seen
Hey Zack - greetings from a fellow Guilford College Alumni / Scrabble enthusiast. Love to see you chasing your passion and being an inspiration for all the young fans. Hope you are able to continue finding great ways to encourage the youth and keep alive the fun in our national pastime. It's all about the fans! Would love to link up with you if your travels ever bring you through the Greensboro / Winston Salem area again!
Yo!! Thanks for the nice comment. Not sure when I'll be back that way, but maybe we can swing it someday. Email me?
Zack, if you could design your own mlb stadium, what would it look like??🤔🤔
thats actually a good question wtf
I've thought a lot about this.
similar to Houston cause he said it's his favorite stadium
You should let us know in the next q&a vid. Btw love your vids. Keep up the good work👍🏻👍🏻
@@zackhample You should make a video about your own stadium design
I remember in Tiger Stadium there were seats literally behind stanchions in left field and right field. I mean you literally had a big piece of steel directly in front of you approximately 10 feet away. On a good day you MIGHT see an outfielder make a play.
It was kind of cool though. Those old ball parks had their own quirks. Today's stadiums are ergonomic this or OSHA that. It takes their charm away in my opinion.
I love Zach he is the reason that I want to go to more baseball games early

The atmosphere in the Oakland Coliseum was second to none throughout the 1980s to the mid-'90s.
This is a very sad situation for Oakland fans. Both of them deserve better.
Lmao
I had the pleasure of attending games at the coliseum during the late 80's. Seeing the greats play from the 3rd deck through binoculars. There were the occasional 1st deck games under the overhang and then there were the bleachers. Fun times and great memories. Haven't been there since 1992. Thanks for that trip down memory lane.
Just recently found your Channel after getting back into watching baseball and collecting again. You are the kind of person that keeps sports alive! Love the videos and the passion Zack. One day I will make it over to the USA to see a game or two myself.
What country are you in?
What team is your favorite?
@@earthsucks9555 America , california
@@BookClubDisaster great comment. so true.
This team deserves so much more, and we deserve to see this team be treated right. Sell the team Fisher.
And here we are, May 15th 2023 with Fisher having basically destroyed a fanbase, a legacy, and doing his best to fleece Vegas into helping him continue being a rich swine. Every baseball fan should know the name Fisher as a disgrace to the game of baseball.
Charles Comiskey was a penny pinching cheapskate. At least, the White Sox have their new ballpark in Chicago's South Side.
@@RyanGiroux22 i live in Las Vegas since 2001. Losing our small big city feel. Dont need the A's.
Being Able to see The Iconic San Francisco Skyline is just Incredible
It’s frustrating that the A’s are my favorite team. I always wondered what it would be like to a support a team that could win a world series. that would be so cool.
In the early 1970s the A's were the best team in baseball& you saw empty seats during the playoffs( they did manage to sell out the world series.Reggie, McGuire, Canseco, Bando& more...hated that disease by the sleaze, my nickname for" Outlaw land, oops Oakland!

Anyone else noticed Zack ate paper at 12:05 lol
I just know that Dustin Hughs died a little inside when he said “you too” after you said “have a good game”
Hey Zack, I commented on this topic yesterday, but I think you should go to a aviators or river cats game. There are a lot of ball opportunities, and it is a ton of fun. Love the vids!
facts
100%
Welp, they're gonna build a brand new one in Vegas now!
Hey Zack it’s Dylan. I still have the Stanton ball. Thanks a lot
I liked how security was right there while you were talking with Dustin just wanting you to leave and lay into you so badly!
To be honest, I like when games have low attendance. I can just go and enjoy a baseball game.
Yes. This is why I like Tropicana Field. Usually their attendance is low, so I can go see them when the Cubs come to town, and it's just a chill atmosphere with mostly Cubs fans.
the "you too" at 9:28 has me laughing nonstop this morning hahahaha
WOW if you were to catch that ball in the end that would of been incredible! Hope everyone has a great weekend and thanks for the video Zack!
We have hella fans.
First part is untrue, and yes there is a protest
They have little fans, big fans, and fans of average stature. The A's organization has always prided itself on offering a diverse, inclusive atmosphere to anyone that wants to see the sport!
shout out to u for giving those kids the ball
It's a really rough situation all around for the A's. They have tried to build a new stadium in the past in various parts of the Bay Area, but every time they have some momentum, there's like a couple other issues that come up. sorta like one step foward, 2 steps back.
so while a's ownership isnt great, you can say that they have at least tried some solutions. It's just that there is a lot of local politics that really cause the A's to struggle getting anything going, and the city leaders/local politicians are equally to blame
You should see the seats behind the support bars at Fenway 🤣 I hate it
How is this stadium still around, they need a full renovation. That’s ridiculous holding professional games in such a run down stadium.
@@Viper631 I love In vegas so I’ll take it lol
The A's just recently in early July got over a city hurdle for progress on a new stadium. They are definitely trying, but some city officials are still resistant. It wasn't approved to go on the November ballot for voters to weigh in on yet. This year, the GM also let most of their top talent go, and the team raised ticket prices, especially on season ticket holders. There isn't a lot of love btwn the fans and the organization right now.
I can't imagine being an A's fan. The team, the stadium. It all just seems so sad.
I can't imagine living in Oakland. That's sad
I like when he showed the worst seat, there still was a raiders helmet logo on the little panel to the left😂😂😂
the Oakland Coliseum is the dive bar of baseball stadiums.
Is this baseball Luke Jackson, for the Braves?
The Oakland A’s is basically a minor league team in the MLB.
AND some historical games as well.
Nothing beats "The Catch" at Candlestick on Jan. 10, 1982 for Bay Area Sports! Go 49ers. Nothing also beats Oracle Park for a baseball stadium.
I'm sure that Oakland would have been fine with being awarded an expansion team, like Seattle got.
Looking like it’s Las Vegas bound for the A’s.
At 14:32 when that little kid also tried to shake your hand 🥺👏🏻
I love how you can stroll around the stadium. Try that in most other parks and get stopped all over to see your ticket so you can be sent where you belong.
that hot dog sales man was great lol i loved his energy
You know the stadium has little fans when you can hear the pop of the catchers glove. And the crack of the bat.
2:31 “Let’s go see just how high we can get in this weird ass ballpark.” underrated line 🤣
I wonder how many times a ticket for that seat has been sold in the coliseum's lifetime?
Probably like twice
They don’t sell those seats for baseball.
