- Today I tried my hand at reverse modelling: taking something tiny, and making it huge! Having created a giant NEM coupling, I then tested it on human beings....

You never want to stress the parts when attempting this kind of coupling.
Plenty of lubrication and a steady hand is advised. Keep some tissues to hand just in case you need to mop up any excess

Who would have thought a 20 minute railway modelling video could squeeze in more innuedos than a Donald McGill postcard. For real romance, you will have to treat Chloe to a bun and a cup tea at Carnforth station tea room.
I don't laugh or smile at many videos in general, but this definitely made me both laugh and smile and I could tell you both enjoyed making the video. Good stuff!
Fun video. The out takes were great! Those couplings look about the right size for a lawn & garden small tractor.
I wonder if those couplings could be used on garden railways. They seem cheap, yet sturdy. Genius!
At the beginning of this video I thought...yep Sam has lost the plot building big couplings but by the end I found it to be one of your most entertaining videos.

Did you learn about these things from the Karma Shunter?
Just because you're feeling Hornby, you should not rush into things. Always take a moment think about taking procurations before coupling.
I think you should contact your local model engineering society and try your couplings on one of narrow-gauge trains or do a James May toy story and try it on the real thing lol.

I think that what we've witnessed is not the future of O gauge, but of 1:1 scale. Obviously, this is a much easier way of coupling trains together. With some minor modifications (e.g. electric raising of the coupling hook) , these couplings are the future of rail transport! 😉

Yes my dear wife this year has been dragged round the Newbury model Railway show. Model Engineering Exhibition. 2 visits to Rugby Model Engineers track and 2 days at Bluebells Giants of Steam. Then enjoyed opening a parcel from Hatton's preloved selection. Love David and Lily.

I have a few packs of Kadee knuckle couplers that can clip into the pocket mount for the couplings on British made locomotives and rolling stock, I can send you some sometime if you want to try them

Oh my gosh such a cute Couple you 2 are and I love all the "family friendly innuendo's" that were uttered in this video. This video could've easily derailed itself but you 2 stayed on tracked even when there was alot of tension lock with those couplers and she didn't have a Cow about it.

It will probably never happen anyways. But if it does TH-cam gots lots of other videos to watch other then that video that might never actually happen in the first place. Only time will tell.
Amazing Sam and partner :D all them almost dirty references are gold. Also you should look into Helicoil Wire inserts for threads in 3d printed parts. We use them in engineering all the time, they will make any thread in plastic about 50x stronger.

How about printing a large piece of trolling stock - 7 plank wagon - and use it to store things? You could print the body in two parts - front and rear, then glue them together!

That's really neat. That's a crazy huge coupling. Also really cool you have your girlfriend being part of it. As one said very lucky that she don't mind the hobby. My soon to be ex wife couldn't stand it but also she never understood it. Which some older guy told me at a train show never explain something like that lol.
