I have a Bull Terrier ... Peppers is 6 now, she came into my life at 3. I'm 65. She is a complete nutcase. I'm single, alone and this is my partner. Just like myself, she can be both a laid back couch potato or run the beach body surfing (literally). Before Peppers was Chester, my Chesapeake Bay Retriever who joined me at age 1 1/2, dying at 13. I've been blessed to have two wonderful breeds back to back in my life. So similar yet so different, both were from RESCUE :):):) I would encourage anyone to go there first ....
I am 73 and just got my Bone Head McFace. He is my 6th one since 1980! Had one litter and kept 2 puppies. They all have a fire in their heart and like owning your own clown.

Someone says no , other say yes but you need to train them properly... there always been dogs from dobermann, pit bulls German Shepard to mutt in my family and I didn’t need to teach my dogs how to watch the house they simply did it without any training, of course I trained them to walk side by side with me , barking on command , sit, platz and other trick I taught them everything but to watch the house , I think that should be a natural instinct in every dog

I had a female I was walking very early one morning in a pea fog and some guy walked up on us and was about six feet away before she saw him. She let out a blood curdling growl that made us both want to shit our pants. He was terrified. But people used to come to my business and bring her food, as she slept in the SUV outside with the tailgate open. So your answer is no. I really don't think you could train one to be a guard dog and then be calm enough to be a lap dog which they prefer to be around people constantly. Thanks,Ronnie

My bull terrier is such a fun loving dog, but also extremely hyper, bull headed, and hard to train. They are awesome dogs but do demand a lot of attention, activity, and training. Not a chill and easy dog to deal with. On top of a need for more than average physical activity, they also require quite a bit of mental stimulation to keep them from getting destructive. On the plus side, they are super good natured, confident, playful, and cute as button.

I used to have a bully, and her best friend was a whippet. She used to chase the whippet until she dropped. She could never keep up or catch him. And that was perfect exercise for her. She would just about make it home afterwards, and flop on her chair for the rest of the day. Enjoy.

lol that point system , every dog is different. My dog absolutely love cats, isnt good with loud and running kids , likes old ppl and never goes near humans she doesnt know and ignores everyone who wants to pet her and even goes away haha.
I got two of them hands down the best breed out there no other better grade than the bull terrier they keep you on your toes to keep keep your doors guarded they watch your back to the fullest very intelligent they pick up normal everydailys quick I wish I can have more but choose my limit for now then I will own for if I could maybe six and maybe a little too much to handle for would be a perfect pack

Hi Stephen, thanks for this comment but everyone tells me that they need a lot of attention but what do you mean by that? My baby is only 9weeks old and yes playing is the only thing she knows when she is not sleeping, and off course eating every cable in the house and everything else she can get hold of, will "more" attention stop this behaviour or is it just because she is still a puppy? Would like to hear your opinion on a lot of attention if you don't mind
@@nathanielnats4373 You have to be rough with them, they are super rough themselves. This might be too late but if you still have one, here we go. They are made out of rock, if you hit them they think you are playing, I've had other dogs before, with bullies you have to literally scream when you want to get their attention and treats work better than physical punishments. These dogs are made of steel. Hitting them will just confuse them and you won't get any results.

Bull terriers are extremely active, and can at times be a bit demanding. The most playful and stubborn dog in the world. Must have strong foundation and let the dog know you are the one in control or it could lead to horrible disaster !
I have had 4 of these nutjobs. They are always fun and entertaining. They came from British dog fighting background and the old saying is this: they don't start fights, they finsh fights. Which is why you have made a mistake about their speed. They are fast, but have exceptional quickness with their relexes. That is why they will finish a dog fight with almost any other breed. The Brits eventually outlawed them from that aweful country sport. They are exceptional watchdogs. Great loving companions.
I had a bull terrier he was called buster and he was crazy but loving great guard dog great with kids and other dogs but hated cats i miss him so much if your thinking of getting one I would say go for it but only if your there for him 24 7 otherwise pick another dog because he will chew your whole house if left alone for long periods
loved this guy his name was shadow and he was my best friend.. he lived until he was 15 he died 2 yrs ago and i really miss him so I had to go out and get another one . I will never own a diffrent breed of dog they are the craziest and fun loving dogs that there is . but if you are interrested in owning one of theses guys you better read up on them they are not your typical dog they do have some health problems but nothing to worry about as long as you take care of them and they are great with children they look mean but they are so cuddly and funny to watch will make you laugh for hours ...

Each bully has the same characteristics but personalities differ. Our current resident bully, Jack, five years old, has an entirely different personality than Mitch, our previous. Jack has never growled in anger, doesn't lick, and prefers humans over other dogs. But he sure tests my patience.
I disagree that they are not for seniors . You can't put seniors in one basket.this is 2019 not only are seniors living longer they also are very healthy and active when a dog is trained well the dog knows how to behave around you
Once you have a bull, you will have a bull for the rest of your life. They're just so sensitive, funny, and they will make you laugh everyday. When I'm stressed or sad, my bully know it so she jump on my bed and start licking my ears until I start to laugh then she gives me a big hug.. Just, they really really need big attention from you, so if you don't have time for that breed, don't adopt a bull, they're like a child of 3 years old for ever.
Dont want another breed bcause our dog loves our kids and anybody who comes to visite and my wife feels very safe when shes alone home for he ( rocco ,male bullterrier) will protect her and our kids no matter what
The bigger the better. Absolutely fearless. Mine had a Mexican stand off with garbage truck. He walked onto the road that we live in and turned and faced the direction it was coming from and waited for it. He did not move an inch. The driver knew him and played along by revving the truck and moving it towards him then braking sharply that the noise attracted nearly everyone that lived in the street to come out and see what was happening. The driver got to about 4ft from him and couldn't see him anymore even while standing and leaning over the steering wheel. I thought I had seen it all but that morning we all experienced a very special English Bull Terrier moment.
Its an adult dudes dog...you and your mom wouldn't get one off another dog if it got loose out the home/yard and attacked...we literally made Labradors for you an your mom 😆
I've always loved bull terriers, though I've never had one. I'd like to, though, even though I am a "senior". OTOH, I'm active, do agility with my Sheltie, and I suspect the low rating with seniors is because most don't exercise their dogs. They are couch potatoes and want a couch potato for a dog.
errr you missed loyalty and courage in the face of protecting its master. I swear, like the reputation of the English in general. The only dog which will protect its owner from a beast 20 times its size

Young bull terriers need sooooo much excersize though or your gonna get a fat/unhappy one. There are better breeds out there for seniors.

A bull Terrier is for someone who really wants a dog. By that I mean someone who is willing to put in the effort of training them .

There’s a mini Bull so that’s why the wide range to include them. I’d start with a mini personally.
