I had enough of each video being 3-4 hours of recording followed by days and weeks of editing. I also had enough of getting stuck around the launchpad and on Kerbin just trying to induce glitches. I came up with Absurd Development to make release cycles shorter and more interesting for me while exercising my mad scientist side. I pick an idea, start working at it, and after a bit of recording I stop until I edit the episode covering the progress I made. I'm not exploring ideas, glitches, and contraptions fully before taking a ton of time to make a video. Instead I'm playing only for smaller chunks at a time that I can edit quickly, release that, then repeat, incorporating feedback if needed. I can also stream this process on Twitch. Since every project is going to be an ongoing effort, I make no guarantees whether any of them will be finalized. I may switch to something else midway, or just leave one altogether. But if a project fails, hopefully I still get good content out of it, while in the past it would've just been wasted time. I hope I can get back to the roughly 1 video per week schedule I had years ago. Still gonna have bigger, more edited videos. Next one is probably "25 Things To Do With Robotics". I hope you like it.
This shows promise, could be pretty interesting to see ongoing projects. The potential for cliffhangers and surprise breakthroughs. Its like a mini series!

I do not see how this should work in the end. I think it would be better to use pistons on the contrary, like springs: The projectile is mounted on the bed, a stack of several pistons rests on it. All pistons extend, starting to press on the projectile. We release the shell. Boom! It is pushed out by pistons and flies.
Damn, I'm early. I've got a suggestion, though - how about breaking Subnautica? I've played through it recently and discovered it's a rather buggy game with a lot of potential to be exploited by someone more talented at breaking games than me. Someone like you, perhaps.
Alternatively, have the pistons attach to a sled which the projectile sits on top of. One less thing that has to release the projectile might make it a little more reliable, plus then you could have the projectile sitting above the pistons so it is unobstructed for launch.
I used to use a stack of those ring fuel tanks as a flexible arm on orbital dredgers, I eventually moved away from it when I found how elastic the things were. Maybe you could put this to use?
Suggestion: why not use the stacked piston system to build a catapult like those found on aircraft carriers? Attach an under-powered/unpowered aircraft to it with a decoupler, or just push the aircraft up a ramp.
Piston assisted launch could be a thing, i don't know how strong the pistons are. Also, i would try a sort of a belt fed fuel tank launcher, with decouplers as links.
