If lightspeed is physically impossible then it’s likely that any civilisations separated by large distances across the universe will never know they aren’t alone!
I think that may be true ... if is in our Milky Way potentially 3,500 habitable planets ,but we will never know, because logically we cannot see so far, and most importantly, everyone is looking to the past. For example, someone from the Andromeda Galaxy would see dinosaurs running around our planet,or a planet full of volcanoes with an unbreathable atmosphere, etc ....
@@Sallamista exactly it’s so crazy and awesome to think about. The stuff in Star Wars could literally be happening somewhere in a galaxy trillions of light years away. It would seem the Milky way may well have been underestimated, it may well be as large as 300 000light years across due to some new studies, making it the largest galaxy in our local group. Hard to get a real accurate estimate on the Milky way however due to us being inside it.
What I’d like to know is, what the hell is inside each of those galaxies? Is it possible that each galaxy contain planets and see if there are any type of life that exist? I’ve always wondered.
There certainly are many billions of planets and it's very very likely that many of them to have life, even intelligent life. But distances are so absurd that we will only be able to guess about it, probably forever.

I don't know if this is a common thing or something you read in the news that tells you to look out for in the sky at night at certain times. I was at a music festival in rural Tennessee and a whole arm of the milky way was up there. It was amazing, I just laid there all night watching it. It was unbelievably amazing.
I noticed they don't put the Milky Way or equivalent dusty plane of the galaxy in star fields like Star Wars or Star Trek. Babylon 5 liked to use nebulae in the background of some of its shots.
We have to listen seriously to lots of stars over time and on multiple radio frequencies, and look for laser light which can transmit more data. Massive payoff versus small effort.
Imagine how many Earth like planets with their own civilizations and Animals are in those Galaxy’s it’s mind boggling . If u think we are alone in this infinite universe u are very short minded
Even if at this moment we're the only technological civilization in our galaxy (which I doubt), there are so many galaxies as to make it nearly certain there's another one elsewhere. Unfortunately, other galaxies are so far away we'd never know it. Fortunately, we're in a major galaxy so there's a good chance we could receive a message from another civilization.
No, just able to look at it from more than one angle. We don't know is the thing. Until we do it is silly to fantasize about this. People used to think different humans lived in the sea. Then they thought they lived on the sun and all the planets. We have a very old tradition of projecting ourselves onto the unknown. Earlier we thought large people lived on mountains and caused everyting from weather to bad luck. We called them gods. Some of us just don't do that and instead just wait to see what we actually find without expecting anything in particular. But we need one more sample. Just life somewhere. Anywhere. We can't predict anything at all until we do. A sample size of one is not a sample size. The only thing we learn from that is that this one thing is possible. But anything is possible. #1 question to me is if life can develop on tidally locked planets, and we don't know yet. Because if it can then most life in the Universe will be there. 90% of stars are red dwarfs = 90% of life lives in orbit around red dwarfs = 90% of life lives on tidally locked worlds. They are very different than earth. They can't help but be. Put the earth in orbit around a red dwarf, making it tidally locked, and it will become radically different rather quickly too. Extreme temps at the focus + extreme weather along the terminator + permanent darkness and cold on the dark side = most life in the Universe is aquatic and bioluminescent/blind. Because it'll probabkly mostly have to live on the dark side of tidally locked planets. That's an example of a prediction we actually can make. At any rate if we can find life on just one such planet. Yellow dwarfs are rare = earth-analogs are rare. We already know that for a statistical fact. Projecting earth life as the norm is therefore already nonsense. it is not. Well, unless life is impossible around red dwarfs. Then it might be. It'll still be rare though.

But the only notion of life we have is in the bathroom mirror!!
@@politicallycorrectredskin796 It's not silly to "fantasize" about this. You just use logic. The universe is very homogenous and infinitely large, the laws of nature are the same everywhere. So why would be more probable that we are this special unique thing instead of just another phenomen that is repeated throughout? We probably will never find this second sample, because distances are ridiculous, and the maximum speed is set, so even if the universe is popping with life, we'll be most probably isolated from it forever. But realistically, it's out there, and it was in the past, and it will be in the future. We're not alone. And we do not need red dwarves for this. 10% of infinitely large is still infinitely large.
Insufficient data. If we find an oxygen atmosphere around an exo-planet then that would be life. If we find pollution in the same atmosphere, then that would be intelligent life, like Romans smelting lead and silver. But what we really want is to receive a message from a technological civilization. That would be transforming and might help us survive.
What will be spectacular about the "collision" of Andromeda and the Milky Way? They are both nearly empty space that will pass through each other with not too much effect.
Our galaxy will probably have its spiral arms broken up and turned into a trail of stars and gas like the dwarf galaxies that collide with the Milky Way.
One thing to note is that we don't actually know the real shape of the milky way. It's a spiral galaxy, but it's hard to tell what type when you're part of it.
It seems counterintuitive that galaxies within our local group are merging even as the universe is expanding on a cosmic scale. This juxtaposition can give the impression of a contracting universe, but it's actually a testament to the complex interplay of gravitational forces on different scales. It’s a reminder of how local dynamics can differ dramatically from the overall expansion of space.
An alien civilization might see the gamma ray flashes from our nuclear war, or its long-term pollution, and be sad we didn't live long enough to join galactic civilization and tell them how life evolved on our planet.
When I first learned about galaxies in school, it was just about different types, not the structure of the Local Group. It's fascinating to learn that Local Group galaxies are gravitationally bound together, but not in orbit, so will eventually collide and combine. But Local Group won't with those beyond.

Serious planning and actions are unthinkable .Filtering and summarizing with purposeful linkage to human survival will give a humanly relevant dimension to this channel.
Dan….I understand AWE!! But why FEAR? As AI emerges, our chances of galactic travel will exponentially increase as well!!
I recognize Melody Sheep music in the background
+1 for your choice of Melodysheep’s music :)
Are people allowed to use his music? By the way, there is an interview with him on the SETI channel
Thanks for this fascinating video.
Just when I think I’m starting to understand bit more about how space works... I come across a video like this. The realization that I know very little is such a slap in the face. There’s always so much more to learn about! Thanks for yet another brilliant video! Love the channel 👍🏽
Think if we lived a billion years, we'd still barely scratch the surface. The universe is just too big for all to be discovered.
It's great that wonderful TH-cams exist so we can enjoy the magic of space.
@@johannapetroff8459 agreed 100%
@@johannapetroff8459 fascinating stuff??? With you tube we get the dumbed down version of cartoons and photoshop crap! Interplanetary travel??? Meeting our alien buddies??? We’re WAY too frail for low/no gravity living! BUT WAIT!!!!! And I personally like this! When AI is developed, it will have a strong, mechanical structure. AND if we infuse our collective, good, useful, godless intelligence into it, then much like our newborn, send it out into the cosmos??? AI’S body/frame would be so much stronger than we’ll ever be!! It would be almost like the next rung on an evolutionary ladder!! AND WE as good parents would see our seed thrive and go on, while living out our days until our home planet is destroyed by outer forces!
@@joejankovics3863 I think our planet will be destroyed by human ignorance long before external forces get us. But then again there is a chance we will wise up and treat the Earth with the respect it deserves.🌏

Could you please give melodysheep some credit for the music at least? I think you used his videos as an inspiration and you have done a great job with the visuals.
It would seem the Milky way may well have been underestimated, it may well be as large as 300 000light years across due to some new studies, making it the largest galaxy in our local group. Hard to get a real accurate estimate on the Milky way however due to us being inside it.
all theoretical guesswork .
could you do a video like this but on the galaxies a bit further out and around our local group? most videos out there are just our local group
I believe apart from our people. There are other creatures that live outside of our milky way galaxy
I love this channel!
Amazing video. Learned so much. Thanks.
Always brilliant and educational.
Amazingly beautiful! Thank you.
It's funny how people image that far, this universe thing is so funny to watch
Aaaah! The music adds to the Quality of your video.❤
Indeed. It's from the Melodysheep videos, if you haven't watch them I highly recommend them:
1. Melodysheep - Timelapse of the entire Universe
2. Melodysheep - Timelapse of the future
This is so awesome. I love the animations! You should make a video about starburst galaxies.
It’s called cartoons!! Something you used to do early Saturday mornings!!
Amazing 😍. Thank You for this video ❤🙏.
the CGI and graphics in this video is amazing
I thought i had a big head rush or a stroke @ 5:10.
Good content.
He has the perfect voice to narrate space stuff..lol
Awesome video love your stuff!
I just find it hard to believe that we have a galaxy that is massive in size and life forms exist only in the Milky Way?
Imagine alien beings from the andromeda galaxy can probably see our Milky way galaxy and wonder if there's intelligent life there too, just like we do. lol
What if they don't like us calling them Andromeda ?
@@dariakon Well they probably have their own name for our own galaxy and we may not like it either.
Adromeda gaxaly is originally home of transformers
@@givememybaconplz6061 you mean Optimus prime? Where are they? I believe they've gone back right
there isn’s any intelligent life in the milky way lol 😂😂😭 trust me we are far from intelligent .
This is the reason why I can never believe that aliens can go to Earth so easily
Cuz they not exist
But the living thing is exist on other galaxy but not Alien
Y’all have opinions that are based on dreams!!! Certainly NOT facts!! UFO notions are just current wishes, NOT facts!! Colonists from earth heading into the cosmos?? NOT….again!!! But….something useful…….lower your head, then look around and clean up the mess we’re making of our environment!! WAY easier than hurdling toward some inhospitable planet!!
Other civilizations might have been contacting us since then, but we cannot just detect it.
We have to listen seriously to lots of stars over time and on multiple radio frequencies, and look for laser light which can transmit more data. Massive payoff versus small effort.
This is absolutely fantastic. Subscribed.
Great work !!!
i love your presentation...just keep it up Kosmo
@@sandal_thong8631 message……like what?? How would anyone know?? Do they speak American?? Message 1. Goes……fire up the bbq….we’re coming….we don’t want granny, too old!! AND we don’t eat horse!!…..
@@politicallycorrectredskin796 Bub……it’s hypothetical, we are guessing about everything!! Mind you, our science is in it’s infancy stage!! Dreams, awe, fear, nightmares, some more guesses, then some scientific laws which are holy today!!! BUT will wind up on a garbage heap real soon!!
Excellent, thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
there's intelligent life in our own milky way for sure
one who can imagine the vastness of a single galaxy will obviously agree
Insufficient data. If we find an oxygen atmosphere around an exo-planet then that would be life. If we find pollution in the same atmosphere, then that would be intelligent life, like Romans smelting lead and silver. But what we really want is to receive a message from a technological civilization. That would be transforming and might help us survive.
Beyo…..better cross your fingers that the communication’s NOT from a malevolent race.. like us!!
Always watch these videos before bed its 02.54 now 😴👌
How is it that these videos have got good narrators no matter the channel
What will be spectacular about the "collision" of Andromeda and the Milky Way? They are both nearly empty space that will pass through each other with not too much effect.
Our galaxy will probably have its spiral arms broken up and turned into a trail of stars and gas like the dwarf galaxies that collide with the Milky Way.
One thing to note is that we don't actually know the real shape of the milky way. It's a spiral galaxy, but it's hard to tell what type when you're part of it.
Hard but not impossible.
We are so insignificant in the grand scheme of the Universe. Even if humanity blew itself up tomorrow, the Universe wouldn't even give a bleep.
An alien civilization might see the gamma ray flashes from our nuclear war, or its long-term pollution, and be sad we didn't live long enough to join galactic civilization and tell them how life evolved on our planet.
Nice vid pal. 👍
How does one figure all of this out...........
You make good video. Thank you.
Wow mind boggling
Love falling asleep while listening to it
Great Video!!!!!
When I first learned about galaxies in school, it was just about different types, not the structure of the Local Group. It's fascinating to learn that Local Group galaxies are gravitationally bound together, but not in orbit, so will eventually collide and combine. But Local Group won't with those beyond.
I know this is local galaxies but ic1010

Is 'Andromeda nebula' correct? Isn't that label... antiquated?
You can create lots of things when you are not limited by time or power.
Twice as little... Wouldn't that be 1/2 the size in normal terms?
These things dont just pop into existence, their sizes are ridiculous. Someone awesome is involved. God is involved.
And all of this has been created for our benefit? Give your head a wobble.
