Nhunt is same question. Entries from Mullins and Elliott 🐴 there are slightly smaller. Fields say 10 runners. 4 Mullins horses 3 Elliott entered. It's about owners. And they are perfectly entitled to enter there horses trained by same trainer
Didn’t Micheal Dickinson have the first 5 home in the Cheltenham Gold Cup no one was on about capping how many he had the field , some of the ITV team have a bit of a Anti-Obrien/Coolmore agenda
Absolutely not. If aidan had 15 in the Leger then so be it. Elliott declared 14 in the Troytown at Navan last winter, 2 got pulled out over the ground, otherwise that valuable pot wouldve only had 5 or 6 runners. Its a complete non issue and the onus is on trainers to get their finger out and get to Aidan's level. It must also be noted that the Coolmore based owners ie Tabor, Magnier, Smith and Westerberg do not have all their horses with Aidan , there was one of Westerbergs being trained by Richard Hannon the other day think it ran at Salisbury.
No not all ov em but most ov em. You mentioned 1 with hannon. Name a few more cool more horses not with Aiden. Not many he is a group horse trainer. Cool more have mainly group horses.
@roberttalbot6397 the one of Hannon's is a 2 year old, so could be anything. Plus the fact that Coolmore have horses trained (as well as standing as stallions) in the US and Australia.
Why should there be a cap ? If Aidan has 3 or 4 horses he thinks will run well on there merits why shouldn’t he be left run them? When he had the first 3 in the arc a few years back you didn’t hear the French complaining and talk about capping his runners in the race it’s just a few people not happy because the prize money is being taken out of Britain
I personally don’t have an issue with numerous runners so long as they are ran with the intention of winning themselves. The whole team tactics to help LA v AF this season at the curragh puts me towards supporting a cap, as does every time Hans A just flies up to set pace before finish last by 3 furlongs, that’s not him running them on merit.
I see he has the first 3 in the betting for the race and I agree he probable shouldn’t be running the 100 /1 shots as pace makers but the owners are looking at it I suspect and saying if we have the top 3 and we put all this money in we can run as many as we like and I also presume they couldn’t give two hoots what any of us or the so called experts think
@@Darren-g4wI think the moral of the story is don't back the pacemaker....we all know who thecpace maker is . I think peacemaking is great as it ensures that the best hirse will more than often win on the day and no hard luck stories as the poorer horses are blown out the back and out of the way when it comes to the business end of the race
@@mctropicalslothYes the thing with it, there could be multiple owners. I'm not saying for Aiden at present but anyone like Cheltenham or Royal Ascot in a big handicap. Imagine a big race ends up 3 runners either. For instance Los Angeles didn't run and another had a setback. I really can't understand how GB traininers aren't learning from Aiden, Mullins or Gordon Elliott. They regularly have 3-4 runners. It's similar in US with Chad Brown often 3.
Absolutely. Funny they didn't really mention that it is the end of the Galileo era, so Aiden will be counting mostly on Camelot colts at 1.6f like you say. Look it's fairly obvious he will try his best.
Definitely reduce a trainers runners to only two runners per race. O’Brien with six or seven runners in say the Derby is ridiculous. So are the Mullins runners at Cheltenham. No wonder he won the British trainers title with so many runners. For gods sake give other trainers a chance!!
Owners would spread their horses across more trainers, so the best horses would still be in the race, just spread across more trainers ... increases healthy competition and prevents trainer monopoly .... that's a good thing
@@jeanlawley6483 Owners like any other enterprise will ensure they utilise their investment in the best way for themselves. The problem in flat racing is that there are so few owners at the elite level and only Coolmore appear to be able to make it work financially.

It's always claimed that racing needs to be understood more to reach a wider audience etc. Start with scrapping numbers linked to weights... Instead cloth numbers must match stall numbers on the flats. I've lost count of the amount of times armchair punters who don't know the game have watched the wrong horse run in a race. Completely unnecessary confusion.
Would not work whatsoever, especially with tracks that have notorious draw biases like Beverley's 5 furlong track and Chester where low numbers are at a massive advantage.
@@paulallen1539 Why? Works perfectly well in the states. Draw numbers can still be randomly selected as they are at present, Just make them match cloth numbers exactly like in the US.
@racereads I wouldn't dare compare UK racing to the states racing, like chalk and cheese. The system that's there in the UK has been going for decades and just leave it as it is.

So O'Brien should only count in the Irish trainers championship and not the British ... obviously he can run his horses in Britain, but they would not count towards the British trainers championship ... They also need to change the way its decided as prize money alone is stupid ... if a sponsor came in and put up £10 million to the winner of a race a trainer would only have to win that 1 race to be champion trainer currently, that's stupid
On the topic of the trainers Championship, I think that's an absurd idea, if AOBs horses run in the UK and win or be placed then it should count towards the UK title as those horses ran there. Would you say the same the other way if say Ralph Beckett ( trainer of the Irish Oaks winner) ran his horses in ireland and mopped up all the big races would that count in the Irish trainers Championship??
Again irrelevent topic. They would soon complain if Aiden didn't enter any !
