@@CharlesNauck Most birds are highly promiscuous and rarely mate for life. Only a few species engage in lifetime monogamy. Most are either seasonally monogamous, promiscuous, or polygamous.
But by and large even the monogamous birds don't really have a system of child rearing similar to humans. Most bird pairs raise their offspring on their own, while humans in natural conditions everyone in the band pitches in with raising the kids (it takes a village to raise a child), in this way humans are quite similar to bonobos, which are a species of chimpanzees.
In fact, the notion of lifetime monogamy in humans is a pretty recent social construct in relative terms. In nomadic hunter-gatherers humans rarely mate for life, and can be best described as serially monogamous. But in terms of raising our offspring humans are similar to our closest relatives.

I had a male cockatiel once who I guess really wanted to sit on some eggs. We got him a different bird food and they added dry black-eyed peas to it. We wondered why he stayed on the bottom of his cage for the last couple days and checked. He collected the little beans from his food bowl and carried them to the bottom of the cage and sat on them like eggs. We honestly felt a little bad having to take the beans away from him. After that, we had to manually sort his food to remove all those beans so he would stop collecting them.

I have a pet cockatiel and it bites all the time and I don't feel a thing. They just do tiny pecks and it's not possible for them to penetrate. When she attacks aggressively I don't feel anything. It's really cute

The line between what humans will or won’t make a pet is solely based on whether or not that thing can kill us…. most of the time.

When I was a kid, my grandmother's bird used to hiss at me every time I came near the cage and would nip at the bars if my hand came too close. But I did it on purpose just because I knew it didn't like me and would taunt it. 😂
