3:32 -- Correction: Algalon doesn't move when phase 2 begins, it's perfectly fine to continue tanking him where he has been the rest of the fight although some choose to move him around a bunch.
True. Since we always took him to the center I assumed he moved there automatically so that’s my fault Learned a lot since making this video and probably going to redo it with updated info
A bonus tip on star killing, if you wait to kill the third star until *after* the new ones spawn before big bang it's essentially one less explosion to deal with. Example is you kill the third at 5:59 this vod and new ones spawn at 6:01, so delaying that third kill by three seconds (less than 10s on big bang dbm timer) means one less star explosion
So I'm a Shadow Priest, and I'm Vader's Apprentice for my raid (ha, get it?)... and I fuckin love it, it's super fun. New favorite fight in WoW Classic, not even kidding. We only have 1 week of attempts on him, though, so no kill yet, and I have a couple questions. 1. The Collapsing Stars deal damage immediately upon reaching 0 health, and not after creating the void zones or despawning, correct? 2. I started focus-targeting Algalon, and wrote some @focus macros for my dots to keep them rolling on him. It was pretty rough on my mana, and we didn't kill him anyway, so I couldn't get a good gauge on how long I could last. Do you think it's worth trying to keep all that damage on Algalon if my primary job is Starkilling, or should I be more conservative and just hit him when I don't need to worry about Stars? (side note, the focus-target thing is brilliant for any 2-target situation, I highly recommend trying it) 3. How many Stars do you kill before each Big Bang? I know it's gonna be a little different for each raid, but a starting point to work from would be good to have.
For our raid we kill around 3 stars each big bang. We nuke one at the start with a bunch of ranged DPS, then have 2 people kill the 2nd. Let the hunter work on the 3rd alone to time it after star respawn. He gets a decent amount of uptime on the boss after the first big bang as at this point decaying stars should be able to handle most of the damage needed to keep them dying with him dealing around 1/4 of a new stars health. Our first kill though was a mess we killed a ton of stars, in week 2 we started to only spawn 2 stars at a time and it made it much easier to heal. The stars deal their dmg like half a second after reaching 0 health, we have the star killer count down from 3 and announce whos cool downs to use. This way if its a bad timed one he can call for multiple to overlap. As for mana you should be pretty good on it as shadow priests normally soak which means you will be using disperse with the glyph a lot. We have only used a warlock/hunter in our 10/25 mans runs though.
@@Azsunes Word, thanks so much. I'm trying to get all the info I can lol. My aid's really excited to get Algalon down, and it's a lot of pressure @_@ This will definitely help!
How many stars are needed per bang bang phase? If we aren’t running a shadow priest what would you recommend for the star killer to do for the one you kill during big bang
This depends on how fast you kill stars. Cause if you have 1 star up when he resummons he'll summon 3 or if you have 2 up he'll summon 2, and those new stars will start losing health over time therefore needing to be killed sooner. The only big bang phase you need to kill 4 on is the first. You'll probably need to kill around 9-10 in total on a first kill. So something like 4 before first big bang, 2-3 before second, 2-3 before third, and maybe 1 more if you have a straggler that gets cleaved, before they disappear at 20%. The stronger your dps the less you need to kill though And any ranged dps can be the star killer. Hunters are good at it but I've also seen mages and locks do it, though they are pretty stationary so can be harder for them. Shadow is good because of their short casts and strong dots. Ultimately though anyone can do it, depends on who in your raid is comfortable doing it.
@@Pants_Gaming It's important to know that stars are re-spawned once a minute starting at 00:15. You want to only kill 2 before 1:15 so that only 2 respawn, then kill 1 immediately after and the other you can try to kill while ppl are phased. You should never have more than 2 stars being respawned imho
@@ryanjoslin totally agree. It's interesting, me and my guild know that's how the stars work but not sure why we never stopped to say "we should slow down on killing these". It's something we actually talked about yesterday for the first time. So yes, try to only kill 2 before the next set spawn and not 3
We have been trying to prog 10m but with 2 healers, and they are oom by the first big bang. Idk if we are just taking so much damage or they are mega overhealing. We have a Hpally and a rsham
2 is max healers you can use. I highly suggest using an hpal/disc priest especially for prog kills. Also make sure to utilize your paladin sacs. Cooldown line ups are absolutely vital
What's the WA being used to track star HP on top left?
Also want to know wich WA?
Tag me pls, if anyone knows that wa

Really good video once again. What is the name of the "Projekted time to kill" WA?
TTD on wago (Time To Die)

Check my ui video. I have Elvui and plater profiles. Also going to set up a Dropbox download with my addon folder in it this week
For 10 man, how many ranged are focusing stars?
Just 1. Stars die really fast in 10 man so no need for multiple people on them
how the F are these tank(s) both barely getting any dmg.. he hits like a truck on XTC on ours? :D
isnt this warlock pov ? :D
Watch the walkthrough. The beginning is just going over boss abilities
