    Very well explained, thanks for the video

    Wow, you nearly did it. If you put the knot on from the other way it's faster and it wont slip as much.

      I'm currently working on an updated and expanded version. Should be done in a few weeks.

    great video, very well explained, but, forgive me, I don´t know what a bubbling net is intended for... why is it triangular?
    best regards

    Very well explained! But whenever I try to make it the knots end up acting like slip knots, so my nets are never perfectly square 😕

      When you make your net, the knots can indeed slip if you force them. I soak & wash my new nets in a strong solution of soda ash (a.k.a. washing soda, sodium carbonate; 1 tbsp/2 c) and Dawn. The material swells and helps secure the knots.
      If the knots slip, slip them back and tighten again.

    Was wondering if u could show instruction on ur leader finishes, n how to make them. In this video, u showed three types. The ribbon one looks braided it seems, howd u do so? Im going to begin my first fishing net, n would like a secure leader finisher that wont come undone n unravel my work. Any suggestions from ur experiences would b great. Tu.

      I use a knot called a whipping. See the website called "animated knots". However, I start my whippings with a simple overhand knot.

    Do you think it would be possible to make a 13ft by 13ft by 13ft version of this with a heavier non-stretchy rope?

      Sorry so late to reply. I believe there are some already out there on the web. They are where I learned the basics for making my net. Check this out... www.ecosnippets.com/prepping/how-to-make-fishing-nets-video/

    would the end loops be helped by using a slightly smaller guage then go back to the original guage?

    • @glowbytube
      @glowbytube  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry so late to reply. I suppose that might work. I haven't tried it. I think it would be very difficult. Another way I've discovered is to pull very tight and stretch the material as much as possible, when making the stitches near the ends.

    how much rows to start expand on a 8 ft net

    • @glowbytube
      @glowbytube  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That depends on the size of the mesh. I usually knit until I reach some target weight, usually 50 grams. With a 2.5" mesh, I think you'd reach 8 ft (not including leaders) after about 42 rows.

    an 8 ft net how much mesh to start with

    • @glowbytube
      @glowbytube  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The yarn I use in the video weighs 0.45 grams/meter. To make an 8 foot net having a 2.5 inch mesh, you need about 52 grams of material.

      Triangles are for bubbling. This shows making a fishing net. www.ecosnippets.com/prepping/how-to-make-fishing-nets-video/

      You can also make square netting with “filet crochet.” It’s only two stitches, you just skip two, knot one

    What is a bubbling net?

    • @glowbytube
      @glowbytube  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a triangular net. If you attach 2 of its corners to 2 poles, dip it in bubble solution, and hold it up in the wind, it produces a cloud of bubble foam.
