Thumbs up for those Bass Pro employees. First, they didn't kick you out. Second, they made useful suggestions. Third, at least one was a fan. Lastly, they knew how to string a reel properly. Give those dudes a raise, and hats off to the corporation for understanding the fact that you're inadvertently advertising on their behalf. They're FINALLY catching on. 🤣

You guys missed out. I was there June 12 and ran into another employee who I thought was going to be a hassle ended up telling me what to return what to buy and where to fish. Older guy long white hair. He was a character.
@@axellopez9400 Ok, so clearly they have a good manager in charge of this store. Those are worth their weight in gold, and recognize good "on the spot" thinking. The good manager recognizes this skill, and encourages it.
Hey lojo when is pbj jig color good idea to use I have used black and blue no luck I have also tried sexy shad ones to no luck as well so just trying different colors I have noticed for me most things that work for everyone doesn’t always work to good for me
The X cut in the butt of the rod is for rod holders they have a metal rod in the bottom of them that locks the rod in place to prevent it moving or falling out/over board going over waves etc :)

I run a Shimano Twin Power FD on my 7’2 MHF spinning combo. Absolutely love the reel, but it’s a 3000 size. Imo it’s one of the best value spinning reels you can get. Not absurd like a Stella, but smooth as butter with the 10 bearings. Plus you can get them for $300 if you order direct from Japan. That braid color you got is also my favorite.

That setup will still be great for deep diving cranks, bigger swimbaits, and pitching!
Although a baitcaster is usually preferred, this is a great oddity to have for freshwater fishing.
He absolutely butchered the combo. Built a bass fishing style setup for inshore.

A 4000 would have been a better all around though.

The x cut out I’m pretty sure is for locking into the rod holder to keep it from spinning back and forth. I love fishing brackish water. I live on the Cape Fear river really enjoying it. Love the videos brother God bless you all. Love the new rod and reel combo great pick.

You should come over to Louisiana , Bass Shop in Denham Springs, then Trout fish in the brackish water bays.
Another most expensive combo idea. Online fishing combos. Pick the most expensive thing from each store. Or just pick things out online. Sometimes they have stuff online that isn’t in store. Great videos always fun to watch.
You need that stella and a rod to match! I had mine on 4 different rods. It's a great reel. I also like my van Staal

Stella and a Megabassor a Graphiteleader will do nearly 2 G's, i have the same setup you bought but with a 4000,i have gotten 36 inch snooks and 80 lbs tarpon easy on it,you are set and good to go brother...Bubba Tidal Pro is an excellent rod too for inshore

Love the saltwater shop and fish challenge. You should come to jekyll island ga and let us put you on some land based sharks. You paddle the bait out with a yak and come back and wait for a bite. We fish with 1000 dollar reels and 800 and 1000 dollar rods and 3 to 500 in line and a 26 dollar leader. Hook and sinker and usually free bait sometimes we have to buy 20 dollar baits. I think you would enjoy it.

Love that set-up. I won 2nd place tournament for heaviest Redfish with a 27 3/4 inch. Love catching those and grilling Redfish on the half shell with some lemon garlic butter.

Always an entertaining video 😊 I caught some monster crappie today for my native fish tank
Great video idea. Really got fired up when you finally found the St. Croix Medium Heavy. That's the rod. I was hoping you'd find the Shimano Stella FK 3000 size reel to pair it up with. About $800. The reel you got was pretty awesome though. Wasn't a fan of the big knob, but then again, I've never fished with it. For longevity, you have to rinse after every trip! Enjoyed the trip. Great to see you try something a bit different. I would have suggested a 1/4 oz. red jig head with some type of swimming plastic on it. I used to use 2 1/2 - 3 inch Sassy Shads, Cocahoe minnows, etc., in Chartreuse, White, smoke, or purple with multi colored flecks. Caught many reds and speckled trout along with black drum and even a catfish or two, not to mention the Brackish water bass. Started of with 14 lb. mono on a baitcaster. One day we were having trouble catching anything so I started throwing 1/16 oz jigs (red heads with white white or chartreuse twisty tail grubs) and started catching the fire out of speckled trout. Always took my ultra-lite for just such "emergencies." Started using 8 lb. mono and 4 lb. mono on all subsequent trips. So much fun. You should touch base with KickinTheirBASSTV and try to do a colab with him fishing brackish water for reds, bass, etc. That would be a fun trip to see! Cheers!

Lojo hear me out heres a dope video idea! you and andrew go fishing and go pro chest mount it and then you each try to catch fish to cook. you guys have a 1v1 fish catch cook comp and after you catch the fish you go to walmart and then get what you need to make your dish and neighbor darrell is the judge of the food and picks a winner and you create a punishment in the beginning. banger vid ! lol
the bottom of the rod is like that for a fighting belt/ harness. Called a gimbal

But I think it would be an awesome video to see yall try out some surf / saltwater type stuff. Go get yourself some gotcha plugs and rip some lips on Spanish mackerel/blues/ribbon fish. G😊2 St Croix rods and love them both they work for almost any type of fish your after even fishing through weeds but some lures work better with different rods.
