Canteen, yes, e tool head yes, the helves leave a bit to be desired though. As for bayonets it's always better buying an original. If you live in the UK, Chelmsford militaria just took shipment of 900 originals, so go for them. :)
Don't buy a sof one they're like most things they sell bad and not worth the money. Get a dicky knight or Pegasus militaria one, they're the correct size, they've got the correct poppers unlike the fake newey press studs sof use and have decent whip chord attached.
@@cosmorogers9617 Chances of you actually getting a Pegasus or Dickie Knight ones are low. Very low. The turnaround time is incredibly long and the Americans need the stuff much more regularly than in the UK.

Hi there! I'm afraid outside of looking at photos, i've got no real further insight into officers kit as its not my sphere of knowledge. The excellent 'big blue book' Uniforms and Equipment of the British Army of World War 1 by Chambers will be invaluable for it. Good hunting!
Was the haversack always intended to go on the back at some point as I noticed it has pre set straps for the buckles on the straps and buckles for the straps, or did they have another purpose, or did it originally not have them and it was changed?
Yeah its definitely built with adjustments in mind. Bear in mind in 1908 its a peace time army so they can afford time to spend on tiny detail and minutiae, whereas in 1914 everything has to change and all the tiny fiddly bits go out of the window.
Hi mike, need some advice as to where I would purchase an officers tunic to the 1914-16 Cuff rank spec of high quality. I have an original from 1917 and would love to match the quality!
You need a custom fitted job then. If you are in the UK, Richard Knight will do a good one, if you are in the US then head to Joe Blunt in Florida. Both will be expensive , but the quality will be excellent. The material for it is called Hainsworth Whipcord. Good luck!
Recently i got what it looks like an 08 pattern webbing but it has only 2 ammo pouches, a large pouch on the front and another bag on the back, and a pistol holster, made by me.c.o and dated 1918. Any info on what army used this set?
I reckon that might be a 'Specialist' 08 rig for things like pistol order or Bren Gun carriers. If you have a link to the pic I could see would be very interested
@@TwoMikesProductions i'll post some photos later on my Instagram and will leave the link here, thanks! Since it's dated 1918 i'm gonna use the equipment with my portuguese impression

We saw one recently from Cambrai, and there are guys wearing Valise packs but no haversacks at all. I think its to do with them needing to carry different things in assaults, like as many bombs as possible or supplies etc.
