    That guy should get guitar tech of the year!, that rig was unnecessarily complicated but the dude is keeping on top of it and knows it inside and out!. Beats that A7X tech who couldn't even tell you what pick ups were in the guitar... that episode should have been done with the band themselves.

    Awesome!. So glad there are bands out there still trying to push technology. That Jazz master is amazing. Every guitar company stamps out the same copies of tired designs from last century. It's so hard to find guitars with even a piezo or sustainer and yet there is all this cool shit out there untapped.

  • @officialmetalwill

    I'm not a bass player per se, but I have a couple basses for recording things. I have a 4 string Jazz bass and a 5 string Jazz bass. The low B always throws me off, however that 5th string really opens up a lot of possibilities. To write off 5 string basses (and 5 string bass players) is completely ludicrous. Just because you're uncomfortable playing them doesn't mean people who play them are in the wrong.

    wow, so many people here are so butthurt. "ehrmahgerd, this isnt real music, its all electronic". "ehrmahgerd, theyre using fake instruments". "ehrmahgerd, this is not real music LOL".
    grow up. learn that music is changing, and that theres not one style of music. not everything is going to be entirely unedited and forever.
    Im not saying you cant not like them, but if you dont, it doesnt make it "not real music". if you dont like it then for the love of christ, *dont bash those who do.*

      Sparkzz777 Friedman perfects the old Marshall tone, by giving it the same bite and power but control as well. In my opinion, neither the new or old Marshalls compare

    • @mattRRgraham1996
      @mattRRgraham1996 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sparkzz777 I agree, why not just get the Marshall JVM410H? they can easily afford it and get pretty much anything they would want from that amp

    • @jameswilson1628
      @jameswilson1628 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      matt graham Yeah, I agree with TheCollisonofworlds. I had a 410H for a few years and I went back to a JCM2000 DSL100, noting beats that crunch channel for me. The JVM sounded way too artificial in clean and OD...

      What a hipster😂😂

    • @imythicalbear
      @imythicalbear 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Collin Scarborough think of me what you will. Brands like Fender are making guitars on the cheap and raising the price, while small brands and companies are not getting any attention, especially when they make quality instruments with a pretty decent price, like SX. The difference between a hipster is they only like things that are mainstream, just to be liked. Me? I'm a musician with actual knowledge. Not to mention I abhor coffee. But...hmm...okay, if that makes me a hipster!

    • @SamOwenI
      @SamOwenI 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Collin Scarborough As much as hipster culture annoys me, I think MythicalBear has a point. Because massive guitar manufacturers like Fender and Gibson pay people to get musicians to play their instruments, people assume their favourite musicians have shopped around and have got what they think is the best. That's why I think it's good when musicians do shop around themselves and go to manufacturers they like. Give those making good products the support they deserve and need.

    • @imythicalbear

At that time they were using Lab Gruppen amp stacks, can you tell me what they are using by way of main speakers for stage?. That would be great. Thanks again.....

  • @BreakingBanksRS
    @BreakingBanksRS 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I love it when no-name internet musicians or non-musicians try to tell us what is and isn't music or who is or isn't a good musician.
    If you truly knew what makes a musician or their music great, you wouldn't be sitting behind a screen telling us what it is, losers.
    These guys have made a name for themselves, it means they're doing something right, just because their genre doesn't suit your taste, doesn't make it bad.

    This is a wildly expensive rig! Good to see some Eventide stuff

  • @Eventual420
    @Eventual420 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    In the Eventide manual they talk all about how to set up and provide signal to them. You can plug them as loops, but you're getting a preamp signal and effects are based on it. When Eventide suggested a microphone for non loop amps, it sounded like 'oh, what a pain' but once I eventually got around to sourcing signal that way it hit me. You get a tube/speaker source, which excels in comparison. I was hooked, now any amp is easy to run, effects are a breeze. Vibrochamp? No problem, can make it sound like a twin. They don't really talk about their speaker mics and I wish they would. In a WDW setup, you typically have the wets in a loop but those old Vox don't have them either so must be mic'd? If so, we aren't making sense running 3 amps when 1 would suffice. I think it is brilliant having a Switchblade GL, and patches changed auto by click, I will have to watch again to find out what software they use to control all of that. The Eventides also run digital signals so I send/receive only digitals and skip an additional conversion. The GL can also muddy up signals, but since they're effects, typically hidden underneath walls of dry signal, not noticed. Staying digital at that point, anything going thru the Eventide is done being converted. To analog and amplify it is quite baffling... its just another wasted step. So this is the 3rd viewing, and has to be one of my favorite RRs, because I run an Eventide much differently. I plug guitar into amp, that's it. The Eventide is a whole post process using mic preamps and a digital audio interface to blend them down to a stereo output, or mono for simplicity. In hindsight, the # of times that I reamplify using a speaker and mic pre could also sound redundant to outside listeners, but that's exactly what a PA does. Will watch again. Also on HRI/Slutz...

    I hate it when bands link their pedal switches and stuff to a click track or the lights. It kills the soul out of the gig as you have to stick to the pre programmed set list and sound. You can't just have a random jam or extend a guitar solo when you feel like it

    That's a sick rig but since they're playing to a click with auto patch changes etc why not just go fractal?

    • @MusicMan642
      @MusicMan642 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's wrong with playing to a click?

    • @FiveseveNp90

      BenFairbank Like they said, "it looks cooler". Another instance of more money than sense :).

    • @BenFairbank
      @BenFairbank 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not just playing to a click. All the patch changes are automatic and synched to the lights etc. so it takes away a lot of possibility for spontaneity and improvisation.

      +BenFairbank To be fair that's called a rehearsed performance. There's an audience for spontaneity but this isn't it.

    Not a ID fan, I like a couple of their songs. But let's get one thing out of the way wen people trash em, but Danny is a Berklee graduate so he has A LOT of skill up his sleeve.

      Well I like them but I think they need to lay more feel in there songs (groove and stuff). I started playing bass because of ID and im planning to go to berklee.

    Gear heads should all consider taking a basic electronics course. When this tech says “they’re the only company that does the top-boost mod correctly” he doesn’t realize that the top-boost circuit is a patented schematic that anyone can access. A little education can save gearheads a lot of money.
