    • @youtubesecurity7992
      @youtubesecurity7992 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In albanian it's "pite" and not "byrek"; Byrek is the turkish word for the same dish, wich is known in albanian as "pite". Still, this was not a "turkish invention". A dish like Pite exists since at least antiquity in the Balkans (it was known as "pita" in byzantine era; obviously the same as albanian "pite").
      However, the Albanian word "pite" derived from the albanian word "pet" and not from the Byzantine word. The byzantine word is a mediteranean "wanderwort". I see that Gashi actually doesn't know what the _true_ difference beteen burek/pite. But hey, he's a musician - not a cook or linguist or whatsoever. But he should know better, because "pite" derived from "pet" and means literally _flat._

  • @youtubesecurity7992
    @youtubesecurity7992 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Bro, the word "pite" literally derived from *"pet"* and means *"flat".* Tf you're talking about?
    Traditional pite is flat. With layers, several flat layers and you can out different things in the middle of it (like meat, spinach, cheese, potatoes or onions - whatever you prefer).
    To give it a different form ain't going to change the fact that pite and burek are made of very flat dough layers.

    As much as I love Gashi, he he has no clue what he's talking about. Literally none of these are Albanian. Like, instead of showing us bootleg Nutella that is basically Serbian or Turkish Borek, show us proper Albanian stews and braised meats and all the other damn things.
    Listen man, again, love the dude, but it's frustrating to watch him talk like he knows his shit, because he knows Albanians brought him up. Fucking hell, how can you have Kosovo tattooed across your torso and then talk about food that got left behind from countries that invaded us and had us under their thumb for a while.
    This is double frustrating as somebody whos into culinary things. Dudes from NY too, he should have had proper Albanian food at Dua Kafe.

    • @veki_m3628
      @veki_m3628 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Being from Kosovo, a lot of our dishes are the same as Serbians, Croatians, Turkish and more. Thats just how it was and we even called a few of the dishes the same as Serbians would call it like "Pasul" or Palacinke... Its in our culture too for us Albanians from Kosov. And mind you, most of these dishes like pite/borek all originate from Turkey not the slavic countries like Serbia. We all share the same food in the balkan region lmao we just call it differently. But im actually quite shocked at your comment, your mom didn't make pite? Wtf thats such an Albanian dish even if it originated from somewhere else. Pretty sad hearing that.... And lastly, you need to chill out. All those dishes shown is exactly what Albanians eat, well at least people from Kosove...

    So Gashi is basically representing the other nationalities food as his country's. Albanian style, stealing everything they can and presenting as there own. Cevapi is a Balkan thing, certainly not Albanian, ajvar is Macedonian, burek type of pastry is Turkish and Eurocream is Serbian. Are u joking man?
