Hey, I have a question; At what point would we see training start to get A LOT more fast paced/intense to mimic actual combat? I know enough vets/active service members to know, of course there is a piss load of hurry up and wait with an emphasis on wait...and maybe they just dont show the stuff I assume we should be seeing but, from everything I have seen, it feels way too "peace-timey" for the current situation the world is in...
@Arbiter710 Of course. I acknowledge that in my comment/question, that it may just be THAT simple. I hope that is the case. The thing is, I don't see/feel a sense of urgency from anyone other than a little birdy (or two or three or five) that may or may not be deployed near the eastern European theatre. The leadership, the personnel in country, most people in general, just don't seem to have a sense of urgency befitting the situation we are in.
@@joshshepherd5660I’m a retired Army 11H/11B and spent 6 1/2 years on Ft. Campbell as well (D co. 2/502 INF) and I retired in 2009. What makes us better than other militaries is a mix of things. Our dedicated helicopter support allows us to deploy quickly and deep into areas an enemy wouldn’t expect and we also deploy with artillery support so when we push onto an enemy we use artillery to “soften” them up a bit and there’s a damn good reason why the artillery is called the King of Battle and the Infantry is the Queen of Battle. Light Infantry units can also coordinate CAS missions from the Air Force or our AH-64 Apaches. We rely more on stealth and camouflage since we lack armored vehicles so we have a lot of practice in field craft and road marching long distances. Another critical skill is ensuring we pack important items that we’ll need during a battle including spare batteries for various items and back up items where possible and critical. We watch how much each item weighs since we have to hump it around wherever we go, food included (we usually carry 3-4 days worth of food but not complete MRE’s, we dig through each MRE and toss out stuff we won’t need or eat so we save space and weight in our rucks.). Each unit has Rappel Masters so we can do various types of descending as a mission dictates. Our unit had a requirement to have 2 qualified sniper teams per company so I got “volunteered” to go to sniper school which in a way sucked since it meant I sat in a range in the summer heat for 8 hours a day. We also have the opportunity to attend Master Gunner schools that teach us advanced tactics and known enemy tactics so we can have an idea of their likely actions upon contact so we can either slow them down or stop their advance. We often do a retrograde action as we take out tanks because we can’t kill all of them at one time so we have to bound backwards and force them to channelize their forces on roads or terrain of our choosing then call in artillery or CAS strikes to help in the culling. So it’s never just the Infantryman, we have many options to choose from while the enemy often has only a couple. We do a LOT of night training so we can safely drive and fight during nighttime both with and without night vision equipment. Even little things like knowing how to drive off road is a critical skill since if one of our vehicles gets stuck, it can have drastic consequences so we take things far more serious and don’t accept assumptions. There’s so many other little things we do but I think you get the idea from here. All my best.
in this video we saw; a dude trying to semi auto an open bolt weapon, an LT with a class ring trying to qual, sling load operations, and the actual infantry using m4's while Mr. semi auto and the sir use the latest and greatest the military industrial complex has to offer.
anytime I watch these im like "fuck I miss that shit" then as I keep watching my enthusiasm slowly goes away. best times I never want to have again lmao
The M250 has a select fire lever that includes semi-auto as a setting. Also the Army didn't issue the M250 to every infantry battalion in the 101st the same month. It's a roll-out gradual replacement. The Army's BOIP or Basis of Issue Plan, is replacing the all the Infantry & SF M249s with M250s, but not all infantry & SF units at once. No MP, you don't rate an M250.
The XM7 (Formerly XM5) has not entered into full-scale production yet. It's currently undergoing testing with the 101st to identify issues not found during development. There's already been an issue where the new sights experience a critical failure with the computers after about a 1000 rounds. This doesn't mean the weapons system is bad, only that there are still bugs that need fixing before full-scale production, so it's a good thing these problems are ironed out now before going army-wide.

They should have gone with 6mm max. They wanted to get rid of the 5.56 and went with essentially an AR10 in a different caliber. Lot less round count and heavier platform. If they ever encounter urban cqb scenario they will dump those for 5.56 SBR'S. Someone at sig and the government is lining their pocket at the expense of the american soldier. Sig is leaving alot to be desired if you ask me.
Your comment is absolute rubbish. You think with the advent of drones and robots we're still going to have humans clearing other humans from rooms? In Ukraine they are delivering hand grenades directly to individual point targets with drones. Robots are issued at the squad level now. Safe bet we're not sending men into rooms or trenches. We're not doing attrition war in with the US Army. The Army is building itself for standoff war from top to bottom. So, the Army DETERMINES *REQUIREMENTS* in part by threat analysis. What enemies are our American Soldiers going to face in the future? How will those enemies be equipped? How are they best defeated given the force structure that we have / can afford? In this case the Army's requirements - sent to all MFG's - was to be accurate on point targets out to 600m and destroy body armor wearing enemy infantry targets within that distance and to have a very high 1st round hit probability, in ANY conditions, day, night, rain, fog, obscurant. Sig submitted a design (like so many other competitors). THE SOLDIERS tested the various designs submitted, at Aberdeen, MD in down select field testing. This is the rifle THE SOLDIERS chose. The 6.8mm ARMY DESIGNED cartridge was the requirement because it delivered the external and terminal ballistic effects required to strike and defeat all targets from 600 meters and in. You and I cannot even lawfully purchase or possess the actual DoD 6.8mm cartridge, it's a restricted munition. The 6.8mm DoD cartridge is SIMILAR to the .277 Fury by Sig, but they ARE NOT the same round at all. The .277 Fury is similar to another cartridge that was a clear Army test winner. The Army got it's testing right in 1931 prior to WWII when it had the .276 Pedersen. Only the jackass MacArthur rejected the .276 Pedersen for the 30.06 - not because the 30.06 was better - it wasn't in Army testing - but because he already had 30.06 ammo. Logistics over ballistic performance! NUTS. The M1 Garand was designed to fire the .276 Pedersen, MacArthur had them change the design to fire 30.06. After WWII the British tried to bring us to our senses with the .280 British. But we would have none of it, we went with the heavier 7.62 NATO. It didn't perform as well as we liked in Afghanistan. Here we are almost 100 years later, adopting a very close cousin of the .276 Pedersen as intended for the M1 Garand and Army test winner in 1932. The .277 or 6.8x51 Army is a rejection of bad decisions of the past. The US Army did testing TWICE and arrived at this cartridge, the British did similar testing and arrived at another similar cartridge. We have three test results, and current Army tactical REQUIREMENTS telling the Army, "You've got this right!"

What's your damage? There hasn't been any major issues reported with the ISV. You think it's bad or something because it doesn't have weapons or armor? It's not a fighting vehicle, its a transport to get to just before the fight.

Aren’t the chicken men air assault and not airborne?
101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).. yes they’re AA. The Airborne patch is kept for historical purposes. 1st Cavalry Division doesn’t ride horses anymore, 10th Mountain doesn’t specialize in mountain warfare anymore. They keep it to honor all the men and women who fought and also were kia wearing said patch. I earned the 101 combat patch overseas and had friends die over seas wearing that patch, i’d be pissed if they changed it to AA. They’d have to change a lot of other patches too

I wonder if the US army will be able to defeat the Russians in a direct conflict
Definitely. They can barely beat Ukraine and USA did better with Afghanistan. Best thing to do is probably ask the Taliban because they fought both

Still carrying waaaayyyy too much shit. Some things never change. And now nearly everyone’s supposed to get a rifle that weighs more and carries less ammunition? Seriously officers really should be conducting these training exercises alongside their subordinates before they green light more stupid ideas.
Idk what brigade this is but keep your heads up, Gentlemen . You’ll be out of the army some day and the taste of self determination is something that never gets old.
Army doctrine must have really changed since my time. Used to be; keep your head down. Stay alert, stay alive. Charlie Mike.

What's your damage? There hasn't been any major issues reported with the ISV. You think it's bad or something because it doesn't have weapons or armor? It's not a fighting vehicle, its a transport to get to just before the fight.
