The BNSF railroad helped restore this trainset for a heritage tour on the BNSF. They also helped restore the sister trainset that is in the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago. =^.^=
No, there is not a mail room in the loco of this trainset, not entirely sure why there are windows back there but assuming very similar to the f series locomotives that I've been on its just the engine room. The engine and generator take up pretty much all the space behind the cab sorry its taken two years to respond to this :)
If looks could kill, you'd be lyin' on the floor. That engineer must be retired from a real railroad. What is the clear (glass or plastic), bulbous thing in the center, near the windshield?
The only surviving e5 unit in the world and that too in its unmodified form with its twin 12-567 engines from 1940.Really suprising that it hasn't been rebuilt with 645E parts
This shows how wrong people are by assuming the driver just sits there and.......you know.....drives. AND to do that job and be able to stay awake at night? Forget about it.....I couldn't do that. I go to sleep using train noise. And you don't mess with the deadmans pedal if you have a shred of intelligence.....
...rode behind this engine on the Texas Zephyr in the 1960s...Denver to Trinidad Colorado...
9911A is the only surviving EMD E5 in the world.

Surprisingly quiet in that cab.
I wanna see the engine room on one of these beasts. There are windows near the back, is it like the pioneer zephyr with a mail room or something?

Been up there whilst running myself! Quite a trip👍🏻

I always thought it was an e9
9911A has 2 horns wierd
A tab-back Leslie S2M and an old Leslie A200 single chime.
Most E units had two trumpets. Normal...Not weird. Only weird to you because of your ignorance of railroads.

Way too much video spent on the engineer!! Video the OUTSIDE!!! Not the fricking engineer!!!! Damn rookie! 🤬🤬
Calm yourself. Some of us enjoyed watching the engineer, seeing how he handles the train as though it's an extension of his own will.
