      @@linusandhiscamera When you mount the body to the lens, rotate it 45 degrees and you can mount it with the tripod plate facing "down" for vertical shots. That way, you won't have you lean the tripod head sideways. The YT channel Michael Carter posted a good video about the lens 7 years ago.

    400mm converts to about 200mm in 35mm, which is very common in the digital world, and was in the film world as well.

    It can be really difficult nailing critical focus on these longer lenses since the thing you’re trying to focus can be so small on your focusing screen. Whenever I’m shooting the 150 or longer wide open I always use the little flip up magnifying eye piece and it makes landing focus so much easier! Sometimes use it on the 105 as well when I’m shooting wide open.

And you can also pick between the well corrected multi element Cinelux lenses and older technologies like ISCO Kiptar (petzval design) and Super-Kiptar (planar design) and the daddy of all bokehlicious lenses - the Aero Ektar 178/2.5 (also planar) which can cover up to 5x5" so on a Pentax 67 you can do some crazy tilting/swinging with it :)

    200mm is as far as I went on the Pentax 67 and it is a glorious lens. It’s a big lens and one of my lesser used ones. But it allows for a longer reach which is useful at weddings and really useful when trying to photograph landscapes from far away. I took some shots in Iceland with it and am waiting to get home to develop them now

    man these look phenomenal. Everytime you zoomed in to show more detail, it just looked crazy. Usually when you get compression this strong, the depth of field looks usually too narrow. But here you get the compression but without that annoying shallow DOF, so the entire thing just look expansive as hell.
    What lens even is this?

  • @marcossuarez5622
    @marcossuarez5622 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I have one of those lenses, I really need to find a moment to test it.
    Regarding the light leak, the fact that it's at the end of the roll and transversally leads me to think that the roll was not tight when it was removed from the camera. The cinestill fill doesn't have anti-halation layer, if the light hits the side of the film it's pipeline to the interior like an optical fiber. It's recommended for these films, no matter the format, to be manipulated in shadow or lower light and a bit more careful.
    Really nice and interesting video.

    Quick question, if the film is a bigger size are images more sharp and better than say a regular 35mm roll of film or is it just dependent on what film stock it is? Thanks! Love the video as always ❤️

    • @musa7606
      @musa7606 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bigger film has more room for detail. Situations will vary, but you should always get a "better picture" from medium format, its just a matter of how much better vs cost of film and ease of use.

    • @linusandhiscamera
      @linusandhiscamera  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes! 35mm is physically a smaller film, and because of that is not capable of the same resolution, detail, or sharpness as medium format film is. But 35mm can still be quite sharp depending on the lens and scanning method 🤍🤍

    It’s roughly 200mm as 35mm equivalent which is not unheard of to shoot portraits with. Why talk about it like some crazy never before seen thing lol. Is it just because it’s so big? Canon used to make a 200/2 that people would shoot portraits with and would give similar effects. Lovely images for sure, but I’m not sure if I understand your bewilderment here
