This is how I feel putting 6 Soundgoodizers and cranking them up to the max in the master bus in FL Studio
Literally every time when the band's late and you're left with 10 mins of soundcheck.
Meanwhile in my ProTools: "hm, I think I need to listen to this at least 100 times more to be sure about this bus send..."

@* AnimalHeadSpirit * Hmm, I wouldn't compare learning to mix to mastering an instrument. I thing as I've gotten better, i learn to go by feel rather than purely cold technical decisions. It goes a long way!

@* AnimalHeadSpirit * Can't argue with that. Most "Mix Engineers" these days have a ton of plugins and other tools at their disposal to close the gap between themselves and proper Engineers. But the mixes I here from the latter have always sounded better to me, subjectivity be damned. And yes, I strongly agree that our Engineers deserve far more credit than what they get now.

There are far more capabilities in the box than on a console....So no, SSL mixing is not “how you mix” in 2019.
He mixed this so good, the mastering engineer is going to be confused.
The ME shouldn't have to do extra work. Mastering should be minimal
@@freshproduce2170 As an ME, yes. I always tell my clients; I can make a good mix sound great, and a great mix sound amazing, but I can't make a bad mix sound good.

That Ssl just looks like a joy to use, of course it helps if you've a couple of racks full of lovely comps, distressors, eq's etc to fire those sends/inserts into. Great work, love your setup too

Nothing short of masterful. If you do tracking, I would to see your process. Harder to do it in a video like this but gaining up, dialing in a tone, patch play (probably not much experimenting left for you to do lol) beautiful set up. My dream wish list, right down to the cable ramps lol
I love your videos truly, I live my dreams through you. I’ve always wanted to mix on a console, using outboard gear and printing to tape. I’m stuck in the box and get fantastic results, but’s it’s not quite the same of course.

A little bit of prep work, yes, but not as much as other songs.

I'm not knocking mixing in the Box call but the fluidity of reaching for a knob turning it until your ears feel good, has a pretty sweet payoff, it's quick, and it looks dope like in this video.

Probably not required for this song but routing FX returns into stereo pairs of channel strips on the console will give you far more dimension. You have some amazing stuff (AMS/Eventide/Lexicon) and it will allow far greater control of the tonality and dynamics of these units.
