I love the elevation of the mounds along that parking strip! Brilliant curb appeal! ❤ Another thing to keep in mind is the Desert Museum tree shade is dappled or lacy and not complete and total shade. IMO. Plus when the flowers fall they’re more like decorative little yellow specs rather than bothersome debris.

What a great refresh. This beats a plain ole yard any day. Waterwise as well. So much more gorgeous. AND the section around the mailbox is just perfect!!!

I am really relating to this Chatsworth job you are doing. The house is much grander than mine, but there are similarities in the yard. Like tree roots! I like the way you just pile on topsoil. But I still have sprouts of that olive tree coming through that I’m constantly dealing with. I have to take care of that.
I recently purchased a ponytail palm of decent size at Costco. I like the way you planted this one in the front with the mound. I have zero boulders, what a difference they make, your rocks and bolders are making this yard. I think they were done the best you’ve probably ever done them. The yard doesn’t look cluttered. It just looks neat and natural. I don’t have a desert museum tree, I have a Chilean mesquite. Within two years, my tree became a humongous umbrella of shade in my backyard. My little $70 stick turned into a giant shade tree in no time! It does drop those pods. I have to rake them. I’ve never seen a Chilean Mesquite on your videos. It is really a pretty tree.
You all are doing a fabulous job with the Chatsworth house. I will bet the homeowners are thrilled! Come to my house in LV and finish my front yard. 😫

Hi Laura! Palo Verde trees are gorgeous, we have them all over the place in Phoenix. The flowers do drop like snowfall in the late spring, and when the tree gets some size, they will make a carpet of yellow all around. It also might have a second flush of bloom in the summer if it gets the amount of water it likes. The pretty, delicate flowers will get in the needles of the barrel and they'll nestle themselves in the leaves of the agaves. The tiny leaves will filter well through the rocks and feed the soil but they will leave detritus in the succulents that tend to catch that sort of thing. The golden barrel will catch all of that. Just so you know. :) The good news is that this one is a hybrid so it won't make very many seed pods.

I have become a rabid fan of you and your family’s passion and am watching every video from day one forward! I live in Echo Park near DTLA (downtown Los Angeles) and was wondering if I could visit tomorrow? I know that you are working so it wouldn’t be a sit-n-tell-me-evrythin’ chit chat, but to see this live with all y’all there would mean everything and give me life!

Yard looks beautiful, can't wait for the grand reveal tomorrow ❤🎉. To funny I was going to ask what you do with the containers too. I heard the nurseries don't take them back and you have to throw away. I hope that's not true 😂

Really loving the parking strip can't wait to see what it looks like finished! Have you guys checked out Thompson's building materials? They have one location in Fontana and I think another in Orange. I have visited the one in Fontana and they have lots of different rock.

Amazing that nearby place have more pricy plants and rocks. I get used that in Australia for tiny little half dead echiveria or faded cotyledon orbiculata with just 5 leaves would be $20-25. The 5 gallons buckets with succulents I have never even seen...

Seeing the two little boys running around, playing on the turf makes me worried about all the spikey and prickly cacti and succulents planted near that grass turf. Just a thought.

Hey Laura, have you look at corten steel rusted edging instead of plastic edging? Not sure you have in the US but very popular here in Australia.

I know very little about my life... But what I know that I need is an aloe ferox. I don't how, when, or where... But it's gonna happen.
    That or an aloe rubroviolacea.
