I have a 15-year-old daughter, and a 10-year-old daughter, and I can't imagine a situation where my 15-year-old daughter would so much as even *THINK* of doing this!
This poor girl must have been raised by terrible people. If that wasn't the case, her parents would stop at absolutely *NOTHING* to track their daughter down and drag her ass home and get her the help she so obviously needed.

MrBallen is amazing. He’s covered two cases in my county, and they were so well done and respectful. One was a case of a guys who went somewhere he shouldn’t go, but another case is actually rather famous and sensationalized. The victims were family and church friends of ours. I always worry about watching someone cover that case. Rolling Stone Magazine dropped the ball, but MrBallen did a good job of being respectful and just giving facts.

I completely understand not wanting to do a polygraph test. They can't legitimately detect if someone is lying, it just takes general vital signs like blood pressure, pulse and respiration. "Lie Detectors" have kind of infected the world of law, and many people still think they are interpretable as "lying" or "not lying". She was 17, she was a prostitute, so being young and into illegal activity probably gave her a general distrust of law enforcement. And, apparently, rightfully so. Just because she didn't take a polygraph doesn't mean they can just drop the case, that's fucked up.

3:55 I would definitely dispute that statement. 223 is legally too small to hunt with for anything except "varmint" animals like coyotes. Because it's such a small bullet, it's deemed inhumane to deer hunt with (wont kill the animal fast enough to prevent suffering) and up in Alaska, there are way better animals then in the lower 48. The traditional hunting calibers would be way more common.
Edit: fuck me, this was a hard watch.

Lie detector tests are notoriously inaccurate. It is this reason that they are not admissible as evidence in a court of law. Police will often ignore the results that clear a suspect for this very reason. Despite this unreliability police and investigation agencies will use failed lie detector tests to incriminate, target suspects and witnesses and some employers disqualify job applicants for some jobs, and even fire employees based on failed tests. So many factors can influence the results of a test from minor and common psychological disorders like anxiety and depression, the amount of coffee a person had in the hours prior to an exam. Even the way a question is worded can influence the results by causing momentary confusion as the subject processes the question and that looks like deception on the test results. For these reasons many people do not want to take lie detector tests.

I just got around to looking into some stats about different states and in Alaska there are 8 men to every 1 woman.... that is some heavy competition . It's not an explanation to why domestic violence is high in Alaska but it does shine a light on the stats . I do know that if the violent offenders keep thinning out the women population in Alaska they will have to pick another state . It's best to just be a trust worthy nice man willing to work at a healthy relationship or hope to find your woman hasn't up and left you after having put up with enough beatings .

this case is so sad. i was raised deep in the country, the closest town was very very( population 600) town. no police station, no fire department, and no ambulance, the closest town with all that was a 30m drive. i was taught from a young age of 6 how to safely use a gun and to not adventure out past dusk, due to animal predators. Now as a 30yo moma bear and a truckers wife, and live in a different small town, but 20m from fort smith arkansas, i now have animal and human predators to watch for. thankfully i live in a state where i am legally able to carry my fmk 9mm on me always, everywhere. i still don't go out at night, always aware of my surroundings, and i still train and will continue to train till the day i die. It's sad to know there are folks in this world like the killer in the video that have yet to have been caught, but i know that i refuse to be a victim and will not hesitate, in my neck of the woods predator have to chose they victims wisly.

Robert Hansen was an infamous serial killer that was known through out his community as a mild mannered family man that owned his bakery business in Alaska and also a known avid hunter with his own plane and cabin in the woods . His main targets were prostitutes and exotic dancers... in all his murders there was only one that survived to tell what happened to her . I haven't finished watching this video yet but I will be beyond belief if this is not about Robert Hansen .

Criminal profiles are based on certain aspects of victims. So age, career, and economic status can be inferred by things like how orderly the crime scene is. Frustration by things like poor relationships (friends, families, significant others etc...) other traits like speech, physical, or other issues could be shown if they take out rage on the victim. Race is usually chalked up to intra racial violence. Most people commit crimes against their own race. It isn't perfect, and it does get tweaked based on interviews with criminals or by comparing victims with the known profiles of criminals. But it tends to be fairly effective as a tool.

If you think this is hard to hear and has maybe scarred you a little, I suggest you stop researching murders now. This story doesn't reveal even close to the limits of human depravity. I've heard such horrible things that this story doesn't even phase me at all nor did any of it surprise me one bit because much worse has happened many times and I'm used to hearing about horrible things like this and worse. It's just another one of the hundreds of thousands of horror stories of humanity. This story is about as surprising to me as hearing about a child who likes candy.
