I’ve seen and heard some people complaining about how the first few episodes focused on characters who don’t really matter.. They’re missing the point. This season is Michael’s season. Though he’s the anti-Christ, he’s the protagonist. Just like infinity War was Thanos’ movie, this season is Michael’s season.
They can't say for sure those characters don't matter. there's a lot of mis direction. in ahs everything is there for a reason. the story telling structure if the season suggests there might be more to their story then just suddenly dying.
Ryan Murphy is such a genius connecting the past seasons stories for one bigger storyline. It's all leading up to this season and the next. I cant wait for the last episode. But I really want Micheal to be able to defeat his destiny and have a happy ending but i dont know if that will happen. It's sad because we all feel for micheal and we know he didnt want to be evil or hurt people. Even Cody Fern said "he isnt evil he has urges but no one to help him control these urges." Its true though. Micheal is too much for any human to handle however, if the powerful good were to have found him first before the evil, he could have been saved. Anyway, they casted the perfect actor to play the antichrist. Cody fern is amazing to say the least.
I think the reason people like michael so much is because he hasn't actually done anything evil yet. I mean, it's heavily IMPLIED that he caused the apocalypse, but so far, we haven't actually SEEN him do anything out of malice (yeah, he killed that cop and that butcher and sarah paulson's character, but they were all asshole victims, so they don't really count). I'm sure that'll change soon enough, but I think it's a nice little trick to get us on his side until later in the season when we see just how much of a monster he truly is.

Caring for and sticking up for Ms. Mead, running excitedly towards her when he sees her, nervous that he wouldn’t pass the 7 wonders, crying when he’s alone in the jail cell. Maybe it’s all an act, but it’s only episode 5 and he’s already arguably the most dynamic and intriguing characters out of all the AHS seasons
