We bake like that in Jamaica. We do puddings this way. We call it hell on the bottom. Hell on the top and hallelujah in the middle. Delicious

Yes the smoke is not good for the lungs. But we cooked for many many years with it. And I want to say that many things in Africa look dangerously weird to many western people but when Covid-19 happened the death ratio was 10:1.
How ironic???
My conclusion therefore, just relax with the smoke.
