In this video I will show you how to unlock your AT&T iPhone for FREE.

If your iPhone is locked to a carrier, you will see "SIM LOCK" under
General - About - Carrier Lock
If your iPhone is unlock you will see "No SIM Restrictions" under
General - About - Carrier Lock
When you put a SIM card that is not from the original carrier on an iPhone that is locked, you will see this message on the iPhone: "SIM Not Supported"
Only when you unlock your iPhone you can use any SIM card from Any Carrier in the World. In this video I'm using a SIM card from Google Fi on an iPhone that was locked to AT&T.

Do you have an Unpaid Bill with AT&T check this first:
"Your device installment plan must have a $0 balance to request a device unlock. To pay off your installment plan or check your balance".

Ok, but I got an email that says in order to complete the unlock process using my ATT SIM card (basically to get an eSIM) I have to backup my phone, then wipe it, then set up as a new phone from my backup.

Try it, but looks like they are too new to unlock, unless you paid off your bill

Want to pay off your device early? Make sure your number has been active on the device for at least 60 days. Then, sign into your account to review and pay off your installment plan. Wait 48 hours after you make your final payment to submit a new unlock request.
