This song was banned on radio when it first came out when i was in high school. Serial killer rapist the NightStalker was happening at the time. It was creepy the timing. It also was so different to other songs by them.
@@RobertBreedon-c3b true, but this was his anthem. He glommed onto AC/DC like Manson glommed on to the Beatles. This song is forever tainted because of him.
Bon’s voice still does it to me!! Saw them live so often as a teenager in Melbourne in the mid 70’s. They were brilliant then, and he will always be their frontman to me!! I have never wanted to see them without him, he was perfection (no disrespect to Brian) but I saw the best!!
A very underrated and under played song - it occurred to me that AC/DC is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The band is the bread, Bon is the peanut butter and Angus is the jelly! Slow Burn FIRE
@@b.bkrueger1394Bon was a legend and he is still so sorely missed. Not only his incredible vocal ability, but his stage presence and cheeky personality. There are many great frontmen/women, but no one will ever match Bon.
The gods of thunder sang out, "Rise UP out of your chair Silas! Thou shalt go forth unto the people spreading forth the rock & roll message! And so Silas rose up out of his chair, several times!! SO IT SHALL BE WRITTEN! 🤘🤘
I’m a 67 year old Australian woman and have seen AC/DC in all their formations numerous times. I’m so glad that younger people are listening to and enjoying these older great bands. This is one of my favourite songs and albums. Faith No More and Rage Against The Machine are more of my favourites among many, many others. I admire your appreciation of good music. Lead guitar is God. Keep on head banging. 😄
Hey Silas from Ned from Spain. A great closing track to this classic incredible album. As others have said it has a nasty creepy vibe from the riff to the lyrics and especially Bon's performance. AC DC have said it's just song about a young guy sneaking into his girlfriends room but that was in 1985 after serial killer Richard Ramirez a big AC DC fan, stated that he listened to this song over and over before he went out to kill. Chilling to say the least.
I've never thought of it that way but that's a really interesting take on it, that by the time you hit Night Prowler, congratulations, you've made it to hell! 😂 What a way to end a totally kick-ass album. RIP Bon Scott.
EXCELLENT PICK from one of my favorite bands of all time.. Thank you for this little reminder of yesterday and your reaction to this selection of this most wicked, killer song from back in the day. Ac/Dc, Def Leppard, and Pink Floyd pretty much provided the soundtrack to my coming of age in the late 1970's and early 80's.. Long Live Rock and Roll !!! And great big fu***ng shoutout from this old, longhaired, rock and roller from the mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Much peace and lots of love, dude, to you and yours. Keep-a-rocking, brother. See you on the next. Later.
Man, every single song on that entire album is so good. I can't remember how many cassette tapes that I wore slick out in the tape deck of home stereo and my truck. Ac/Dc truly ARE the backbone of rock and roll. They have charted so many hit songs through the years it is unreal.
If u like the real bluesy style of ac/dc, you should try The Boogie Man with current singer Brian Johnson. The meaning if song comes from long touring trips in Australia across Nullarbor plain in the south from east to west. They likened the long drive to a Highway to Hell!!
Bro, I've been listening to AC/DC my whole life, easily my favorite band and I've never come up with the theory about the Night Prowler being the final iteration on the journey to hell, but that has some resonance! Thanks for that, something damned interesting to think about.
My fave song off this album. Just great hard rock blues. Agreed. Bonus best vocal on whole album! And wasn’t this song boycotted some where due to a serial killer at the time it was released? Oh. And the little nod to Mork and mindy at the end. All you youngsters go look that up online
It's 1 of there best period. But hell they all r. ACDC is probably my 2nd favorite band but I got like 3 other # 1's LOL. Thanks for doing this album with Bon on vocals he's a real musical lyrical genius.
Great song, love the tempo...the song is a bit ominous in that a Los Angeles serial killer in the early 90's I think always played this before going after his next victim...he is on death row st San Quentin prison now
What a great album, not hard to expect with Mutt Lange (he was a wizard)...the only album with Mutt and Bon Scott, I wonder what would have been if Scott was still around. However ACDC did okay (sarcasm) actually great with Back in Black. What would Back in Black sound like with Scott? I wonder.
Nevermind it was written about Ramirez, 4get about the meaning, the bluzy rhythm of this and Ride on, cmon, is there any better. I'm 60, never get tired of Bon or Brian, Scorps,Priest, Zep, Floyd or the Stones.
Highway to Hell was about the tour. So ya you are right. It was there Highway to become our night prowlers. My greatest Rock stars ever. With Metallica, Motorhead, Ozzy, and Megadeth. Let me please add Pantera . Good stuff my friend.
Walk All Over You is my other favorite by these guys. I can totally jam with you. I bet you would like Eagles Those Shoes but they are finicky on copyright. Subbed
AC Fuckn DC. This album to date has gone Platinum 22x.22 million albums sold of Highway to Hell Great band. 240 million albums sold. Back in Black. Is the biggest selling album in Rock history. 2nd only to Michael Jackson's Thriller it has sold 60.6 million copies worldwide you could take Kiss the band their six best albums and combine their sales and they would still be Millions short of one AC DC albumACDC greatest rock band ever
I think this was one of Bon Scott's best vocal performances. He really sings his ass off.
Great, creepy, simmering blues riff. What an album closer.
Shazbot. Nanu nanu. Bon's last words.
In my humble opinion this the best AC DC album they ever made hands down.
Dirty deeds or powerage is better i think
I have this in the car. I LOVE this album!!
@@arandomturd3775powerage is hard to beat
Totally agree
It is a solid number 2 for me, Powerage is unbeatable
You gotta love Bon Scott's voice. RIP
Such a good story teller as well
"You don't feel the steel, til it's hangin out your back" This song is incredible, on an incredible album of course. RIP Bon 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This entire album is just raw and kicks a**
That " shazbot nanu nanu" at the end was a reference to Mork and Mindy, a very popular sitcom circa 1979
This is what you call "The BLUES!" I effing LOVE IT!!!
This song was banned on radio when it first came out when i was in high school. Serial killer rapist the NightStalker was happening at the time. It was creepy the timing. It also was so different to other songs by them.
Yes i was living in riverside cal at the time and we all were so scared Richard Ramirez. Every time I hear this song I think of him.
No it wasn't this came out in 79 that freak Richard Ramirez was active from June 1984 till August 1985
@@RobertBreedon-c3b true, but this was his anthem. He glommed onto AC/DC like Manson glommed on to the Beatles. This song is forever tainted because of him.

Love this song, probably my favorite on this album. Bon's vocals are insane! Thanks Silas!
This song provides goosebumps everytime
Angus Young never holds back he is amazing and my favorite guitarist

Got to love the slow blues shuffle going on.
Going chronologically in reverse, 'Powerage', should be the next album from AC/DC you react to.
*Shazbot! Na-nu, Na-nu!* line taken from 1978 TV sitcom *Mork & Mindy* staring *Robin Williams* RIP
Silas considers this foot slappin' music (6:51). "Shazz-bot, nanu nanu".
Richard Ramirez loved this song. He was the Night Stalker serial killer.
Still the best AC/DC album of all time. Bon Scott was awesome RIP

Listen to the live Bon Scott version of "The Jack" from the Apollo in 1978.

You should do Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks. It might get blocked, though. The guy has won a Nobel Prize, for goodness sake.
