    Not to make this a competition or anything… but thanks to Mr. Studebaker, I completed this repair in about 43 minutes. Thank you very much for this video, John! Wonderful job!

    This video is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much. As a minimalist van camper the DVD player was unnecessary and not having the top console gave me more freedom of movement in a small space.

    Thanks John, followed your steps to the T and it worked great. By following in your steps I was able to get it fixed in around 2 hours. Thank you so much, my youngest son is autistic and the TV DVD player is a life saver for my wife and I.

    Thank you so much for making this video. This is exactly what I needed to do in order to get the DVD player to work in my 2016 Town and Country. My four kiddos thank you the most as now they have a DVD player right before our family vacation.

    Thanks so much for this guide! I was able to get it knocked out in a little over an hour today! I found out you really only need to remove the screw and bolt at either end under the caps to remove the entire console. No other screws are necessary to pull it down. The hardest part was taking apart the DVD player for sure. Thanks for the location of the hidden screw and on the tip for opening up the case of the DVD screen!

    2013 Chrysler town and country here. This was pretty much spot on. Only recommendation I have is check your ves cable you are replacing to ensure you get the right ribbon (it will have branding info on the ves ribbon). I bought mine prior to doing this and my ribbon cable was a 1/2 inch short from connecting to both ports. I bought the correct one and the video works now. Thank you for posting this video this helped me out greatly!

    Thank you for the video. I completed this job today - just a small tip; I left the console attached at the rear and hung the front of the console down. I supported the front while I reached up and removed the tv screen. Job was completed in an hour and a half thanks to your video!

    • @sarahgreenscookingdemos5066
      @sarahgreenscookingdemos5066 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How did you reach up in there to remove it with the back still attached?

    • @corkyc6015
      @corkyc6015 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to complete the job again after an aftermarket ribbon cable failed. This time I purchased an OEM cable. The job took 45 minutes. I still left the rear console section attached, dropped the front section down and supported it and reached over the front console to remove the tv. Once the front console section is hanging down, you can disconnect all the wiring harnesses and reach all the torx bolts holding it in from the topside.

    This saved me 850 dollars that the dealership wanted to charge me. I have a dodge caravan 2016, the clips holding it had an ac controller also. Thank you, it took me 3.5 hrs total start to finish! Your video really highlighted the correct areas to safely apply pressure. This was crucial in removing the entire center console, and prying the monitor to expose the ribbon cable. This would’ve taken me an entire weekend without your guide, and I likely would’ve broke some plastic.

    Watching your method was a mirror of my own down to the kids popping in from time to time. I got stumped at the 4 pins that held everything up too. It was then that I came across your video. Was good to watch someonelse taking the inital risk of breaking their stuff to give me the confidences to do the same. You ended up with 2 extra screws while I lost those 2 same screws. They are for the back compartment where a second monitor would go.

    Can’t thank you enough for the video. It was a great help. The ribbon was not the issue in my case I guess the monitor went bad, but it made things much easier after ordering a used monitor to replace it, we’re back in business now.

    One thing I’ll say is when your ordering the ribbon get it from Amazon and before you order look at the circuit board where the ribbon is disconnected/ connected for the number 34 or 68 …. I believe the models 2013 and later are 68 and that’s a different ribbon that is used…

    2 years later and a useful video. I did have to use a pry bar to get it from the plastic anchors but I got it down.
    I did notice I had a wire in one of the connectors that was bare looking. I went ahead and inspected it was pushed in all the way and put electrical tape. Might as well check everything while it is down.

    have a 2014 Town and country van. All the lights on the dash are lighten, and go out, and come back on ever so often. The windshield wipers come on and don't shut of, so I pull the fuse. It's say the Blind spot system needs to looked at. I took of the bumper and took a closer look. Connections were dirty, and the moguls were in good shape. So I cleaned up the bumper, and all the tape to hold the wiers up out of the rain. Blinkers work most of the time. Still don't know where the lose wire might be. Each connection I find and can get to I clean it out and put some electrical grease in the connections.

    I believe our 2016 Town & Country DVD screen is on its last leg. It will sometimes turn on when we open it to just the right angle. But sometimes it just stays black no matter how we adjust it. Very frustrating. Definitely a design flaw among countless others seeing how many owners are experiencing similar issues. Our van's AC, window motor and regulator, door lock motors, and transmission have all failed or are failing. Although it would be pretty cool to fix this next issue in my own, not sure if I should even put more $ and effort into repairing things as it falls apart bit by bit, or if I should just cut my losses and get something for it while I still can. Sure as heck never touching another Chrysler again.

    OMG thank you for taking off the overhead console!! Please help. I installed 5 cab lights on the roof of my 2014 caravan. Usually in my other vans I would run a positive wire(Screw from the cab lights provided ground.) ALL THE WAY from under the dash and wiggle it up the headliner and find it under the dome console. Then wire up my cab lights. BUT in your awesome video I see wires!!! Hot wires right??? In your video each dome light has a connector. With two red wires and one gray wire. Can I connect my cab lights to the RED for POSITIVE and GRAY for NEGATIVE?? And I presume they will be on ALL THE TIME right? So I can install an overhead TOGGLE switch in either the red or gray wire?? Thank you.
